cw: some dancing and fluff
Summary: Mornings in your shared apartment with Vi were always a mix of quiet domesticity and unexpected moments of joy. The two of you had settled into a comfortable rhythm after all, yet every day held a spark of something new, a reminder of how much you cherished these simple, intimate times together. This morning would be no different.
The morning sun filtered through the window of the kitchen, casting a warm, golden glow across the room. You were in your element, swaying your hips to the rhythm of a reggaeton beat blasting softly from your phone. The aroma of spices filled the air as you hummed along to the song, completely unaware of the presence now standing at the doorway.
Vi stood there, leaning against the frame with her arms crossed, her trademark smirk playing on her lips. Her eyes were fixed on you, specifically on the way your hips moved in perfect time with the music. Her short, slightly messy pink hair caught the sunlight, making her look even more like a dream. She didn’t say a word, content to admire the show.
You reached for a jar of seasoning in a lower drawer, spinning around mid-step, and that’s when you saw her. Your cheeks flushed instantly as you caught Vi’s grin, her eyes sparkling with mischief and something else that made your belly flutter. You froze, your hand hovering over the drawer as your heart raced.
“Good morning,” Vi said, her voice low and teasing.
You quickly turned back to the counter, trying to calm the heat rushing to your face. With a nervous laugh, you grabbed the jar, walked toward her, and planted a quick kiss on her cheek. “Good morning,” you replied, your voice soft and a little breathless. The kiss lingered just a moment longer than necessary before you pulled away and returned to your cooking, hoping she wouldn’t notice how your hands trembled slightly.
But Vi wasn’t about to let it go. “What was that dance?” she asked, her tone laced with amusement. The question made you falter, the knife in your hand slipping slightly as your heart skipped a beat.
“It was nothing,” you mumbled, though your blush deepened, betraying your words.
“Nothing?” Vi pushed off the door frame and sauntered closer, her boots making a soft thud against the wooden floor. “Didn’t look like anything to me.” She was behind you now, close enough that you could feel her presence without her even touching you.
You swallowed hard, turning your head just enough to glance at her. Her eyes held that playful, challenging glint that always made your knees weak. “It was just a little… dancing. No big deal.”
“Dancing, huh?” She leaned in slightly, her breath warm against your ear. “Can you teach me?”
The question caught you so off guard that you nearly dropped the spatula in your hand. Your face felt like it was on fire as you turned fully to look at her. “Teach you?”
“Yeah,” she said, her grin widening. “You know, show me how to move like that. Seems like it’d be useful.”
“Useful?” you echoed, raising an eyebrow.
Vi shrugged, her smirk softening into something more genuine. “Or just fun. You looked like you were having a good time. Made me wanna join in.”
Her honesty disarmed you, and despite your embarrassment, you couldn’t help but smile. “Fine,” you said, setting the spatula down and stepping away from the counter. “But don’t laugh.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” she said, holding up her hands in mock surrender.
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t fight the laugh that bubbled up as you reached for her hands. Her palms were calloused, a reminder of the countless fights she’d been in, but her touch was gentle as she let you guide her. You placed her hands lightly on your hips, feeling a fresh wave of heat rush through you at the intimacy of the gesture.
“Okay, so just… follow the rhythm,” you said, your voice a little shaky. You started to move slowly, swaying your hips in time with the music. Vi’s brows furrowed in concentration as she tried to mimic your movements, her usual confidence giving way to an adorable awkwardness.
“Like this?” she asked, her lips quirking as she stumbled slightly.
You couldn’t help but laugh, the sound light and genuine. “Close enough. Just relax. Let your body move with the beat.”
Vi nodded, her grin returning as she caught the rhythm. Her hands stayed on your hips, steadying herself as she got the hang of it. The two of you moved together, the music filling the space between you until it felt like the rest of the world had disappeared.
“See? You’re a natural,” you teased, glancing over your shoulder at her.
Vi chuckled, her eyes meeting yours. “Only because I have a great teacher.”
The moment hung in the air, the playful banter giving way to something softer, deeper. Her hands lingered on your waist as she leaned in, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “Thanks for the lesson,” she murmured, her voice low and warm.
You smiled, your heart swelling as you leaned into her touch. “Anytime.”
The two of you stayed like that for a moment longer before the sound of something sizzling on the stove broke the spell. You jumped, turning back to the food with a laugh. “Oops, breakfast!”
Vi laughed too, stepping back but staying close enough that you could feel her presence beside you. “Guess I’ll let you finish cooking,” she said, grabbing a piece of fruit from the counter and popping it into her mouth. “But don’t think I’ll forget about that dance.”
You shook your head, smiling to yourself as you returned to your task. With Vi by your side, mornings like this were quickly becoming your favorite part of the day.
