Hope everyone is weathering this liminal space that is new year's eve โœจ

As we step into the many unknowns of this coming year, so do 2 million people under total siege in Gaza. I wanted to remind you that you can still help alleviate the situation of many displaced families by donating to mutual aid groups in Gaza, especially now as Israel placed a ban on multiple humanitarian aid groups like Doctors Without Borders from working in Gaza starting tomorrow, January 1.

You can also donate directly to families fundraising from Gaza like my friend Amal's campaign, with donations aimed at keeping her toddler and 1 month old baby warm this winter. Any amount donated is highly appreciated and nothing is too little, especially as we do this as a collective.

I really, truly hope that 2026 brings justice, the kind fuelled by radical hope and resistance โค๏ธ

While the world waits for midnight, we count the nights of cold, hunger, and struggle for survival. Thank you for not forgetting my family during this difficult time. Every act of solidarity warms my family, keeps our child alive, and gives us hope.

May 2026 be the year when justice is finally served. โค๏ธ

New Year, Same Questions

We talk about rising living costs, healthcare systems under pressure, wars that never seem far away, and a world that feels more divided than ever.

A new year doesnโ€™t automatically mean a better one.

Change doesnโ€™t come from fireworks or countdowns it comes from empathy, responsibility, and choosing to care about people beyond our own bubbles.

If 2025 is going to mean anything, it should be about protecting the vulnerable, listening more, and acting when we can.

And sometimes, that action starts smaller than we think like helping one child get the medical care he desperately needs.

As we begin a new year

๐ŸŽ†We in Gaza don't ask for grand wishesโ€ฆAll we wish for is warmth, safety, and a meal to feed our children.

If this new year brings you the ability to give, your help, or even just your participation, could be a start.

Please share, Please donate

As the new year begins, our biggest wish is something simple: a safe roof for baby Mina. She was born into genocide, cold weather, and displacement โ€” and the cost of rent in Gaza has become unbearably high. Securing a home for her is not comfort, itโ€™s survival. Your support helps us keep her warm, safe, and alive. Thank you for standing with Mina. ๐Ÿค

It's baby Mina's first new year!

She is not yet a month old and the weather in Gaza is endangering her. (yes, even in warmer climates, the winter is an extremely vulnerable period for newborns.)

Her mother, Amal (@amal-ashour-new), and Amal's other daughter, Mariam, are also struggling in their cold tent, unable to rent an apartment.

Baby Mina turned one in a world of cold, fear, and uncertainty.

She should have been warm and safe, not battling the bitter winter cold in a tent.

Mariam, baby Mina, and I are doing everything we can to survive in conditions no family should ever have to face.

If you can help, please donate. Sometimes a donation is the difference between a freezing night and a warm one, between fear and hope.

Little Mina, the baby, sends you all her love and appreciation and tells you that thanks to your support, we were able to buy her winter clothes and enough milk to last her a whole month. โค๏ธ

Please help this adorabile little girl with even a 5$ donation!

as the year ends, I want to thank all of you once more for the care and support you've shown to my friend Amal ( @amal-ashour-new ), her brother-in-law Fahed ( @fahedshehab-new, @danashehab ), and the rest of their family as they work to survive and rebuild after enduring more than two years of genocide. more than anything, the contributions of people like you bring the Ashour and Shehab families hope amid the ongoing circumstances of deprivation and hardship they face every day. I inexpressibly grateful to each of you who have pitched in with your funds, time, energy, and resources to help Amal and her loved ones; you have truly made a difference.

unfortunately, the future is still precarious. Amal has a newborn daughter, Mina, to care for amid the harsh winter cold, her husband Mo'tasem is injured and in pain, and 12 people in total are depending on the campaign for survival.

Amal's current hope is to rent a house for the winter to protect Mina as much as possible from the threat of exposure. although the family was able to successfully persuade their prospective landlord to lower the monthly rent from $1,500 to $1,300 USD, he is asking for three months' rent in advance, which means that in order to secure stable shelter for herself and her family for the next three months, Amal needs to raise about $4,000 USD.

this is a large amount to raise, but with your help, I know it's possible. you've stood by Amal for a long timeโ€”please don't forget her now, when she needs our solidarity more than ever. if you don't seek it out, you may not be encountering as much news about Gaza as you were this time last year, but conditions are only worsening and growing more unlivable. it is of dire necessity that Amal and her family raise the funds they need to get through this winter: at this point, it is survival, Mina's and everyone else's, that is on the line.

if you are reaching the end of this year with funds to spare, please consider contributing a dollar or two to the Ashour and Shehab families' campaign and helping to keep 12+ people warm and fed! no effort, monetary or otherwise, is insignificant in reaching this goal.

Verification info: Amal's former fundraiser is #175 on @/nabulsi, @/MohAyesh, and @/el-shab-hussein's spreadsheet and was shared by @/bilal-sala7 and @/90-ghost. The Shehab family's former fundraiser is #764 on butterfly effect project's spreadsheet, was additionally verified by @/el-shab-hussein, and shared by @/90-ghost. Their current joint campaign has been shared by @/bilal-sala7.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with my family. Your support truly keeps us going.

Right now, our most urgent need is renting an apartment for the winter. With a newborn baby, Mina, and freezing conditions, secure shelter is not optionalโ€”it is essential for survival. The landlord requires three monthsโ€™ rent in advance, and meeting this cost is our only chance to protect Mina and the rest of our family.

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to warmth, safety, and dignity. Thank you for standing with the Ashour and Shehab families when it matters most. ๐Ÿค

happy holidays and happy new year! as we move into 2026 and reflect on the past year and what we hope the new year will bring us, i want you to consider the things you may take for granted each year; food, water, shelter, clothes, and warmth in the winter and relief from the heat in summer. take a minute to consider your friends and peers in gaza who have been without these things for 2 years now. those suffering from genocide are your peers, they are just like you, with families and friends and hopes and aspirations for a new year that is better than the last.

two of these families are the ashours and the shehabs. these families are friends and peers of mine not just because i've had the pleasure and privilege of speaking with them and getting to know and love them personally, but because we have a mutual knowledge of the fact that we are all people who simply want the best for those in need. they have suffered countless displacements, injuries, starvations, and hardships, the newest of which being that my dear friend amal has recently given birth to her second daughter, mina, and must now worry about how to keep herself and her baby safe and healthy after birth.

i hope to appeal to your hearts. if you know me you know i've been fundraising for both of these families since last summer. reem and amal are both dear friends of mine. reem has a massive, kind heart, and it is clear that everything she says and does is motivated by a love of her family and a love of life. amal is wise beyond her years, and as an educator she has cheered me on in my own academic career, a support and motivation that is more than she knows. they are more than a statistic of individuals living through genocide, more than a chuffed url, they are true, genuine people.

their chuffed campaign is linked below. their former fundraisers are both verified here. any amount you're able to donate helps, i promise you. if you're unable to donate, please share. thank you.

Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time ๐Ÿ’” While the world bids farewell to one year and welcomes another with joy and happiness, we in Gaza greet it with fear, cold, and insecurity.
Sharing my family's story at this particular moment means so much to us, as it reminds people that there are families struggling to survive amidst fear, hunger, cold, and displacement, and that we were unable to celebrate this happy occasion with our Christian brothers and sisters.
Your words and support have given us a sense that we are not alone.
We are grateful to you and to everyone who has chosen to see us and stand with us. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ

amal @amal-ashour-new is going into labor within the next couple of days. she is in a lot of pain. her husband is still injured. the least we can do for her is ease the worry of financial insecurity while she's in the hospital. she's going through a lot at the moment. she needs baby clothes and diapers, at the very minimum. please let's do something for her! fundraiser - proof

Guys, I'm about to give birth and I need your support. Is it possible that my baby will arrive without a place to live, a mattress to protect him, a blanket to keep him warm, or clothes to cover him? Please help me, I desperately need your help. ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

Every donation makes a real difference in our lives.

"Amal is about to give birth any moment, and we still have no shelter at all. Weโ€™re running out of time. Pleaseโ€”if youโ€™re able to donate anything, we desperately need your help to secure a safe place before the baby arrives. Your support right now could be the only thing protecting this newborn."

Please please join with me to help Amal and her family! This little baby is being born into a terrifying war, but she has a strong mother and a loving family who are protecting her. Letโ€™s help Amal stay strong and show our support ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

please donate to support Amal and her family, especially since she is now in labour. Even 5$ matter!!!

Help Maram and her children leave Gaza๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ

Important ๐Ÿ’ข

I am Maram from northern Gaza. We have been displaced for 9 months, and the situation is getting worse every time.

We are in a genocidal war. We lost everything we owned: our house, my husband's job, and my own business.

Today, I am in need and urgently requesting your help. Your donation saves our lives. Do not forget me and my family from these massacres that happen every day.

๐ŸŸฅโ›”I want to share a very important update about our lives.

My children and I are still facing daily hardshipsโ€ฆ hunger, fear, and harsh conditions are still a part of our lives.

But every interaction, every share, and every support we've received has made a huge difference.Even the simplest share from you has given us hope that we are not alone.

โ„๏ธ Winter is approaching, and the cold is biting.

My children and I are living in a worn-out tent that barely protects us. Hunger, fear, and harsh conditions are still a part of our daily lives.Every support and every share we've received has given us hope that we are not alone. We urgently need a new tent, warm clothes, and blankets before the situation gets even worse.

PLEASE SUPPORT THEM THIS IS VERY URGENT

Please spare what you can for the Amal @amal-ashour-new and Shehab @danashehab families. Fundraising has been slowing down for them a bit, and they're trying to gather the funds for a new tent to help survive the winter. They're getting close, but need more support.

This fundraiser is legitimate, having combined the fundraising efforts of two families who were previously verified but who switched from gofundme to chuffed because of gofundme's shutting down of various palestinian campaigns.

Itโ€™s been more than 22 hours since the last donationโ€ฆ and honestly, every hour that passes makes our situation harder. Weโ€™re trying to reach our goal of $4,000, not for luxury, not for comfort โ€” but simply to survive. Here in Gaza, every dollar truly changes something real in our lives. It means food, warmth, medicine, safetyโ€ฆ things most people never have to beg for.

If youโ€™re reading this, please donโ€™t scroll past. Your help matters more than you can imagine. Even a small amount can push us closer to our goal. Please, stand with us. Share, donate, spread the word โ€” anything you do makes a difference. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™

last year, i met two families from gaza. amal ashour (@amal-ashour-new) was one of the first people i helped to fundraise for - she's one of the kindest and wisest souls i know, and she has shown me great friendship in the year we have known each other. the other, the shehab family (@danashehab), is one full of love and warmth, who would always bring a smile to my face with kind words of affection for her family as well as my own. it was a great delight to find out that they are also family to each other

their families are fundraising together for survival. they recently regained internet access after 50 days, in which they suffered extreme hardship. they were trapped by the occupation, unable to flee, and amal's husband moatasem was injured and unable to receive care for 10 days until the ceasefire was announced. they moved south for his care, as well as for amal's care, as she is nearing the end of a pregnancy made incredibly difficult by the genocide. you can watch amal and sahar shehab tell their full story in this video.

they have a joint chuffed campaign to support their families and gain necessary funds to provide moatasem and amal with the care they need to heal and remain healthy, as well as for the survival of the rest of the family. a ceasefire may have been signed, but the suffering in gaza hasn't ended. any amount you can spare, and effort in sharing and promoting makes a difference. their verifications are listed in this post here. please, make a difference in the lives of these beautiful families - if your places were switched, they would do the same for you.

Hello everyone,

A few days ago, I was contacted by the Shehab ( @danashehab ) and Amal Ashour ( @amal-ashour-new ) families from northern Gaza and heard their story. Believe me, what they told me is not easy to say or hear.

Please listen to the message they convey in the video to understand what they've been through.

The Shehab family and the Amal Ashour family were cut off from the internet for 50 days, during which they were trapped while their area was under siege by the IDF. Amal is in the last months of her pregnancy, and her husband was seriously injured during the attacks by the zionist occupation. They are currently displaced, and are struggling to make ends meet. They need these funds so that they both can get the treatment they need, and provide food and shelter for the young children of both families.

They asked me to amplify their voices, and I'm conveying their message:

The whole world is watching, but true support begins with those who, upon hearing and seeing these families' stories, stand by them and donate until they reach safety. Today, we desperately need your supportโ€”not just prayers, but action. Help us by donating, sharing, speaking out, in any way you can.
Every share, every dollar, every word can change a life.
We can't stop the war, but we can stop a family's suffering.
You can be the reason we experience a day of safety after all the fear.

Here is the link to the joint chuffed campaign for both families:

Their campaign has been shared by @bilal-sala7 who appears on @/el-shab-hussein @/nabulsi and @/moayesh1 's list of vetted fundraisers. Amal's campaign was previously vetted (#175 on the list) by them as well, but they had to restart the campaign on chuffed since their previous gfm was shut down.

๐Ÿ™ Please donate, share this post.

Your donations are more powerful than you can imagine.

Amal's husband Mo'tasem's treatment is very expensive so theyre in desperate need for funds right now. Please donate whatever you can spare.

Tagging for reach

Iโ€™ve been away for a while because of everything weโ€™ve been going through ๐Ÿ’” Itโ€™s been some really hard and painful days, but thank God weโ€™re still here ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Thank you to everyone whoโ€™s stayed kind and supportive, even in my silence โ€” it truly means a lot ๐Ÿ™ Right now, I need your support more than ever. Your presence gives us hope to keep going ๐Ÿค

The war destroyed everythingโ€ฆ our home, our memories, our safetyโ€ฆ nothing is left for us.

My three children โ€“ Alma, Lama, and Lina โ€“ spend nights in a small tent on the ground, their little bodies shivering in the freezing winter. Every time I look at them, my heart breaks and aches with pain.

We urgently need a warm place, even a small room, to give them warmth for at least one night. Any donation, no matter how small โ€“ to rent an apartment, buy warm clothes, or anything that gives them a sense of safety โ€“ can make a real difference. DONATE NOW

You are our only hopeโ€ฆ my children are waiting for your kindness and mercy to save them. All I want is for my children to live in safety after this war.

Oh my God, two whole years have passed! We have witnessed what no human being could have imagined.

We have witnessed childhood wrapped in cardboard... and meat divided by the kilo. We have witnessed all the contradictions, and what breaks the heart and tears the soul apart. We have witnessed the support of the people. We have witnessed cowardice, shame, and the fall of leaders and presidents.

Two years, and the bitterness and extent of their physical, psychological, and visual destruction still remain. For that to change, a miracle is needed.

Yes, we have lived as if a stone is being rolled off your chest...

Two whole years that cannot be contained in a film, cannot be borne by stories, and cannot be sufficed by memory.

Two years in which we asked God that when we die... we all die at once.

Two years have passed, and we still need to repair our minds, hearts, homes, streets, schools, and infrastructure, and, most importantly, to feed those whose dream was a piece of bread that they only get every now and then and that is never enough for everyone.

Two years of these difficult days have passed, and every day we are saved by a miracle. But what I remember most on a personal level, the one ray of hope when everything was dark, is you, my friends.

Thank you for saving us.

Thank you for your humanity and your struggle for us.

Thank you for your living consciences and pure hearts.

Thank you for crying over us, expressing your feelings for us, staying up late following our news, worrying about what was happening to us, and praying for us.

Thank you for your demonstrations and pressuring decision-makers in your countries on our behalf.

Thank you for your generous moral support.

Thank you very much for your donations. Without you, I would not have been able to feed my children and buy them clothes and shoes. Without you, I would not have been able to leave the dangerous areas, even at the last moment. Without you, I would not have been able to build a tent over the rubble of our destroyed home and rebuild it after we were bombed again. Miraculously, we survived.

We will remain indebted to you until the last day of our lives, and we remember you.

We remember people who did not know us personally, but who fought so that we might live in dignity, with all their strength, courage, and determination.

Your friend and brother in humanity,

vetted by @gazavetters, and (#287) on their list of verified campaigns.

The war has stopped and we are still alive and hopeful that we can rebuild our lives. We lost our home, on which we spent everything we could save. I deprived myself and my children of many things in order to build our home, and now it is a pile of rubble, but I still have hope that I can build a new home, even if it is of a modest standard.

Today, my children and I were walking in the market and my children saw chickens. We have not eaten chicken for almost half a year, but unfortunately I could not buy them chicken because its price is very, very expensive. Unfortunately

we have not received any donations for a while, so please, my friends, try to help us and donate to us if you can and share our post so that it reaches everyone. I trust you, my friends, so please stand by us.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ We are Palestinians trying to rebuild whatโ€™s left of our livess.

Israel promises ceasefire after ceasefire and breaks it every time. Weโ€™ve celebrated peace, only to wake up to bombs and screams before sunrise. We are exhausted, hungry, and holding onto hope with trembling hands. Please, help us rebuild our lives piece by piece, dream by dream.

Before the war, I was a teacher, and my husband Ayman was a fisherman. Our school was bombed, our boat destroyed, and our home turned to rubble. Our little boy, Hamoud, was born into this chaos growing up without toys, only memories of running and hiding.

We lost everything that made life beautiful.

Now, weโ€™re just trying to start again. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน
