being tenna in chapter 3 is like if you were locked in a dark windowless room all alone, with nothing but your own (very mentally unwell) thoughts and regrets to keep you company, for years and years and years, so many years you don't know how much time has passed or why the people you used to know look so much older or why some of them have left to go do different things with their lives, all without you. and after long enough of this you're finally let out of the room by one of your beloved family members, your best friend your nibling your kid a friend's child you babysat for a while, but they're pointing a gun at you and they tell you okay you have to get up on stage and put on the best talent show this town's ever seen for a few hours or i'll have to shoot you. and you're like holy shit okay, yeah, sure, btw i missed you, and they don't say anything but they're still pointing a gun at you. so you go and you put on the best talent show this town's ever seen, you give it your all you get into character you make it fun for their friends, and the whole time they're sitting in the audience silently and still pointing a gun at you, so you keep going, but above the stage you can see a timer counting down and you know when it hits zero you'll finally be done and you get to go back to living your life the way it was before, and you're kinda scared because they're still pointing a gun at you but you're a little excited too, because hey, you've been in a dark windowless room for a while, getting to live again will be fun! so you keep going until eventually the timer reaches zero, and you're looking up at it with hope because it'll finally be over soon and you think you did a pretty good job with this whole talent show thing. but then instead of staying at zero and playing a little noise or fanfare or something, it starts going into the negative numbers: -00:01, -00:02, etc. and you're like what the fuck, that was supposed to be it, i did my time i did what you asked, and you look down at the audience but they're still not saying anything and still pointing a gun at you, so you're like. well. fuck okay i guess ill keep going then, and so you keep going and the timer just keeps ticking up, and eventually you can't take it anymore, your legs hurt your head hurts you're exhausted you're frustrated you're stressed out, the rest of the audience is getting bored and some of them are even getting up and leaving, and the timer's still going and you have no idea when it's going to stop anymore because this is so far past anything you were told to do. and they're still pointing a gun at you
