oh so he "understands her better than anyone" but even in his deepest imagination he still envisions her in the colours that reflect the costume she had to dress up in to conform to society when he first met her
they made will and el have almost the same experiences, switched their roles, gave them the same romantic interest, even cast actors two years younger than the other kids, and STILL never explored their relationship. I guess that’s just too complex for those brothers.
Both of my thoughts watching this scene
Every day I think of the apocalyptic Hawkins we could’ve had. Like mmm yes give me the party exploring their abandoned past, the decrepit halls of their old middle school, the overtaken railroad tracks and car junkyard, the haunted creel house, the quarry and lover’s lake…the abandoned city as a metaphor for abandoned childhood instead of El…impeccable horror vibes from the run-down buildings and fend-for-yourself from Vecna and the military…Vecna memories being for the party and forcing them to reckon with their pasts individually and with their counterparts…do you guys pick up what I’m putting down like ugh the vibes of what I hoped it was were so peak
I have to admit that the scene in the finale where hopper gets vecna‘d is actually SO GOOD, like I knew that el wasn’t dead (plot armour bla bla) but still, THIS is what I wanted the entire final battle to look like
a battle of the minds, showing the main characters their darkest fears come true, slowly driving them insane
THIS is how you do a final battle with horror instead of action, to show that you can’t win with guns, but with love
it could’ve been so good
they both found someone to share a little morning coffee with
Dead Poets Society (1989) dir. Peter Weir
Everything I said about you being a traitor and stuff… I was wrong.
