i'm of the opinion that the depp/heard trial didn't change peoples' perspective on female abuse survivors but gave them a chance to express the violent misogyny they already harbored. similar to men who speak violently about "onlyfans girls", they're overjoyed when they find an acceptable target. the depp/heard trial just revealed how widespread the issue is, and created an environment where it's even more acceptable to degrade survivors. i've heard someone say in real life "how do we know [rape victim] isn't another amber heard".
people keep saying they want to see the conversation where shane tells ilya about the two other guys he hooked up with (as related in the book) but i just don't think it works in the show! i feel like we're way too close to shane/immersed in his headspace and it would feel weird that we as the viewers didn't know that! like he was being an unreliable narrator to us. i also just think this boy is too careful to go hooking up with randos. hooking up with another player = mutually assured destruction if anyone tells. hooking up with a total rando = there's no way this man would be able to come he'd be so in his head panicking about this somehow getting out. i really deeply believe that shane has maybe had some mediocre sex with women when he feels like he has to perform heterosexuality for the boys but that ilya is his one and only gay hookup for reasons of: it's way too risky and (unlike ilya) shane does not get off on risk.
