This phrase has already entered my vocabulary re: media criticism where like. The viewer has a concrete view of what they expect a story to be based on the tropes and cliches they're used to seeing together, and when that doesn't happen, they judge it as a failed depiction of what they assumed it was going to be instead of judging it as what it actually is.
"This show is problematic because the hero didn't kill the villain at the end": When does he steal the bread?
"These two characters who were close friends throughout the series don't kiss at the end! What the fuck?": When does he steal the bread?
"This feels like it's missing a conclusion! Like, the protagonist does bad stuff and because of a critical decision he makes as a result of his major character flaws, meets tragedy in the end! Where's the part where he learns better and brings is love back from the dead and becomes a good guy and gets a happy ending?": When does he steal the fucking bread??
コミミズク(Short-eared Owl)
A wizard that discovers a potion that has no other trait than giving you 15 minutes of intensely gay thoughts. It doesn't seem to work on anyone else.
It's not magical. The brew just contains plants rich in iron and several key nutrients and vitamins that the wizard is chronically deficient in.
awesome
“So this fic has been abandoned but you should read it anyways because…” hold up. Have you not been reading all promising fics regardless of completion this entire time
Today I learned that an alarming number of yall are filtering fic by “completed works only” which is WILD to me because some of the best shit I ever read was incomplete. Just like how some of the best friendships fade, the best experiences end, the best partners pass away before you’re ready. Nobody wants good things to end but they do and that doesn’t make them less meaningful. And sometimes a tree must be nurtured before it can grow
Not a clean metaphor but that’s like being at a potluck and someone who’s already left the party left their trifle cake behind, it’s been picked into with only some layers left intact. You don’t see anyone else eating it and people are just walking by it without much mind. Why would you say no to free cake? Even just partial cake? Sure you’ll miss out on some layers, and the original baker is not available to talk to about their cake but at least to give it a try, it could be delicious
hey sorry. can you stand a little further back and we try again

"THIS ISN'T A SEX THING" I exasperatedly yell as my leitmotif and that of my mortal enemy are arranged and mixed to play as a single track during our final climatic duel.
"ON MY MOTHER'S NAME, THIS ISN'T A SEX THING" I desperately howl as my nemesis and I pull off a seamless, perfectly coordinated team attack on a greater threat, with no prior training or practice, our skills and habits mingling and mixing perfectly and naturally due to our dozens of duels with each other, leading to immensely intimate familiarity with each other's martial habits, combat tendencies, and overall skillset.
I want a dachshund or other small dog because it seems like a good middle ground
Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but please do think it over. Dachshunds (and many other small breeds) actually require quite a lot of activity and exercise (mental and physical)*. If those needs aren't met, that can cause so many difficult behavioral problems. They're working dogs, after all: if they aren't given a job, they'll find one themselves (and it'll be likely something very annoying or unpleasant to you)
*yes, it does depend on the individual dog, but the general tendency points to those breeds being high energy
