Hello! This is @cyanocoracinae's bird rescue blog, where I will post about my own personal birds as well as my rescue and rehab cases.

I do assist with some native species. Though I likely won't post much about them, I may mention them occasionally - wild native birds are not pets, please remember that I am trained in rehabilitation and work alongside professionals!

For more information on a specific species, see:

also, some quick notes under the cut

Manco showing off for Iris and Milo! And Iris showing off a bit too 💜

Manco is my oldest male, likely around 7, and has a pretty extensive vocal repertoire. In this video alone, you can hear a killdeer, Canadian goose, gulls, and part of his mallard quack lol. He can also mimic red-shouldered hawks, robins, crows, blue jays, and grackles. A very talented boy! 🧡

I mentioned poor Daisy's beak in the last post, here is a closer pic of what the poor girl is dealing with. Was told the beak "looked much worse, but he trimmed it for us right before we arrived". Genuinely suspect he did it with scissors based on all of the gouges in the keratin.

We are kind of shocked she could even eat, given that it was apparently much worse. We are hoping to get the poor little thing fixed up over the next few days, but wanted to let her settle and make sure there weren't any more immediate concerns. Poor lady.

Going to be really inactive indefinitely, sorry all. There's a little left in the queue but after that it'll be quiet from me. Having some delayed surgical complications from my hip reconstruction back in August and have had my walking + weight-bearing privileges revoked indefinitely while we wait for x-rays and my surgeon to make decisions on next steps. Currently scrambling to find help around the rescue and things are going to be a mess for a while. Hope to be back soon ♥️

Update, with good news!

They were able to book me for a follow up surgery to remove the screws that are causing the pain + complications I am having. That'll be in a little under two weeks, at the end of the month. It's supposed to be a pretty short recovery and I should feel infinitely better after that 🤞

I have also been given tentative permission to walk limited amounts until then, as long as I use a cane or other mobility aid - which means I can still be with my birds! Which is really the best I could ask for.

I still won't be super active because I am sleep deprived and sore as hell, but I am just happy it won't be another two months of not being able to go to the aviary.

Thank you very much to everyone for the kind words, it meant a lot!
