Shrimp checking out the box Prince was inspecting. These two have been mates for three years now, and while they always end up picking the same box for their nest, he has to make sure he is selecting nothing but the best for Shrimpy.
If you turn the volume up you can hear him go "Hiiii, whatcha doin?" when she lands on the box lol.
I've been housebound while recovering from a major surgery that I had at the end of August, but my husband has been caring for all of my babies for me 🥹 He got some photos for me today, I'm so excited to see that everyone has finished their molts and looks wonderful! I can't wait til I can walk again.....I've been hearing them sing from my bedroom window but it's not the same as seeing them 💔
thanks to a lot of help from my husband, all of the health checks are done and the aviary is totally cleaned, re-perched, and re-planted ❤️ I am so so relieved to have this finished - I normally do a huge deep clean in the fall, but we weren't sure if I would be up and moving again before things started to freeze. they seem pretty happy, so I'm happy too 🥰
Hello! This is @cyanocoracinae's bird rescue blog, where I will post about my own personal birds as well as my rescue and rehab cases.
I do assist with some native species. Though I likely won't post much about them, I may mention them occasionally - wild native birds are not pets, please remember that I am trained in rehabilitation and work alongside professionals!
For more information on a specific species, see:
-> Starlings
-> Pigeons

also, some quick notes under the cut
today is poggy's birthday!!! my sweet boy is 4 years old :') I am so happy you're here, buddy, you've changed my life and I love you so fucking much.
I will probably celebrate everyone's birthday this week since most starlings in my area are hatched in early May, and the only four who I have a rough estimate of their hatchdays all fall this week (Iris, Shrimp, Onyx, and Pog!). they are getting daily dinner treats, I'm planning to make them some birdie bread, put the kiddie pool in the aviary for a few days, and maybe find some new perches and plants for them!
here's a quick pog from today :] he's in horny jail (the solitary aviary) because he wouldn't stop harassing my girls. he usually gets like this at the beginning of spring every year and just has to be separated for a couple of days to chill out! it's nice to spend some one on one time with him since he was my first bird ❤️ but i do not think he appreciates our time together very much since he just wants to get back to the girls lmao.
sorry for being a bit inactive here, i've been struggling with some serious health issues ever since we got back from our trip- my mobility is very limited and I am looking at a probable surgery 🥲 so I have not had as much time to spend with my darlings. hoping this changes soon.
