Thought about this today, thought I might share. I made it on Picsart so enjoy the low quality. Hope you agree. (this was an excuse to show off some of my plant collection)

the best part of goncharoving doctor who is that you can throw in very real but obscure stories in amongst the fabrications, and unless your audience is comprised solely of nerds who've read all the vnas, it's nigh on impossible to tell the truths apart from the lies
the cruel shining light of heaven may not be a real story, but if you asked the average person, nor is the tomb of valdemar. so who can say really
i was taggged by @izzyv1o to post 9 books I plan to read in 2026.
tbh several of these were on my library hold list for all of last summer, then when i finally got them in oct, my library hold lapsed because i was moving and starting a new job! so i'm hoping i can get them again when i actually have time to read.
who knows what i will end up reading! books kind of just happen to me. i am sensing a narnia reread this year.
tagging.... @erulasse23 @spiderwebbed1 @grassangel @queenmeriadoc @harfootscribbles @lilyhandmaiden and, as always, anyone who wants to participate can say i tagged them.

you've heard of death of the author, now get ready for death of the audience: where instead of basing your reaction on a thousand uninformed opinions online, you actually read the text and engage with it
you guys are so annoying. why do i have to see discourse every year that's like "was tolkien really a woke king or was he your conservative uncle?" the guy was a devout catholic and a genteel misogynist who maintained lifelong friendships with queer people and women, and this isn't even paradoxical because that was part of the upper-class oxford culture he was immersed in. tolkien told the nazis to fuck off (and in doing so demonstrated a real understanding of what racism is and why it's harmful, beyond simply "these guys are bad news because they're who my country is at war with right now") but his inner life was marked by internalized racism that is deeply and inextricably woven into the art that he made. he foolishly described himself as an anarcho-monarchist, and it's kind of crazy to see people on this website passionately arguing that he likely never meaningfully engaged with anarchist theory, because...yeah, no shit, of course he didn't. tolkien didn't have to engage with most sociopolitical theory because as an upper-class englishman of his position, he was never affected by any of the issues that this theory is concerned with. what is plainly obvious from reading both his fiction and letters is that tolkien's ideal political system was that the divinely ordained god-king would rise up and rule in perfect justice and humility; he didn't want a government, he wanted a king arthur, even though (obviously) he was aware that outcome was impossible. why is it so hard for people to accept that he was just some guy! his letters aren't a code you have to crack. no amount of arguing or tumblr-level analysis is going to one day reveal a rhetorically airtight internally consistent worldview spanning jrrt's fiction, academic work, and personal writings, thereby "solving" the question of whether he was a woke king or your conservative uncle. his ideology was extremely inconsistent because, at the end of the day, he was just some guy.
You’ll all sleep a lot better when you realise that actually most people, rather than being purity in human form or evil incarnate, are in fact just some guy.
He was some teacher that didn’t like teaching
disa/galadriel flirting and sexual tension for @jobot935 on bsky, in response to a liminal week prompt.
Rated T for sexually suggestive content.
“No elf has ever stepped foot in this cavern,” Disa says as she hands Galadriel an unlit oil lantern.
“Then I am the first,” Galadriel says.
“Or perhaps the last,” Disa warns.
Galadriel laughs, her voice like a bell bouncing back at her from the stone walls. Disa’s mischievous giggle joins the echo.
Clearly it's been a mad few weeks that I forgot to reblog this beauty of a fic.

inspired by Gold by Imagine Dragons
First comes the blessing of all that you've dreamed
But then comes the curses of diamonds and rings
Gil-galad dreams of a flourishing realm, the restoration of the glory of Lindon. The Great Tree is bare, only a mere handful of golden leaves clinging to the branches. He waits, the limits of his patience tested and pushed.
When Galadriel and Elrond return from Eregion, they bring both good news and bad. They have a chance to halt the fading and preserve the elven lands in Middle-Earth; however, the Enemy, Sauron, has successfully infiltrated their ranks and influenced Celebrimbor in the making of the rings.
Rings. An elegant solution, if they are deemed pure. Gold and silver from Valinor itself, gems handcrafted with power, a triangle of balance. And yet… Will they prove to be a blessing? Or a curse?
Only at first did it have its appeal
But now you can't tell the false from the real
Galadriel is stubborn. She is willing to admit it, at least to herself. The rings seemed the perfect solution, the idea of three holding balance to correct her mistake in trusting Halbrand. It would work. It had to work.
Yet part of her quailed under the weight of Elrond’s words. What if Halbrand did influence Celebrimbor? Influenced her? Could she really know her own mind in this?
She doubles down. If she is wrong about the rings, what else might she be wrong about? She has to trust in something.
Who can you trust? (Who can you trust?)
Elrond backs toward the cliff edge. The waterfall roars beneath him. Gil-galad’s expression is a thundercloud waiting to break, fingers outstretched with demand to be obeyed. Galadriel’s eyes hold betrayal, fear, anger.
Who can he trust, now that Sauron has poisoned their minds? How much of the last few months has been lies and manipulation?
He cannot allow the rings to remain here, twisting reality even further. He cannot trust anyone so long as their influence remains.
He jumps.
