Being disabled/chronically ill tends to take up a lot of energy while simultaneously narrowing what you can accomplish in a day. And that's okay.
You're not a bad person for choosing to use your remaining available energy for things that make you happy (and are thus necessary for your mental state) over activism. You're not a bad person for not overextending yourself to do it all.

One thing I've noticed recently is that people treat RSVPing for a party or event as a suggestion and not a commitment.
I had a little party today and literally half the people who had RSVPed yes just no-showed without saying anything.
It ended up being a delightful event with some of my favorite people and I had a really good time, but I can't help but feel a bit hurt by my friends who said they would come and just...didn't.
Even beyond my feelings, I had put a LOT of work into preparation, so there was way too much food.
If you say you're going to an event, especially a smaller one, at least tell the host if plans change. Like, no one is forcing you at gunpoint to go to a party, but it's super rude to just ghost your friends and usually significant work has gone into putting together the event.
Also like, part of the reason you RSVP is so the host knows how many people to accommodate for something (i.e how much food to get). By no-showing in advance you are making them waste money, cause they'll be spending it on thing that will go to waste b/c the person they were allotted to didn't show up.
Which is rude as hell.
And the reverse is also why you SHOULD say if you're coming and not show up randomly without warning, if they haven't planned for your attendance there won't be enough stuff for you(like food.
The wanting to know who's coming isn't just, because the want to know. They want to know so they can accommodate the right amount of people.
It is with the deepest frustrations that I must report Microsoft has pushed out Copilot onto Microsoft Word no matter what your previous settings were. If you have Office because you paid for it/are on a family plan/have a work/school account, you can disable it by going to Options -> click on Copilot -> uncheck 'Enable Copilot'.
(Note, you may not see this option if you haven't updated lately, but Copilot will still pop up. Updating should give you this option. I will kill Microsoft with my bare hands.)
In addition, Google has forced a roll-out of it's Gemini AI on all American accounts of users over 18 (these settings are turned off by default for EU, Japan, Switzerland, and UK, but it doesn't hurt to check).
To remove this garbage, you must go to Manage Workspace smart feature settings for all your Gmail/Drive/Chat and turn them off. Go to Settings -> See all settings -> find under "Genera" the "Google Workspace smart features" -> turn smart feature setting off for both Google Workspace and all other Google products and hit save. (If you turned off the smart settings in your Gmail, it never hurts to open Drive and double-check that they're set to off there too.)
Quick Edit: I found the easiest way to get to the Smart Feature settings following the instructions above was to do it through Drive. Try that route first.
Okay, all other Microsoft settings addition: If your Microsoft 365 apps don't yet have the Enable Copilot checkbox, you can turn off Copilot by changing your account privacy settings. This worked when I tried it, but it's a fucking pain.
- In your app (for example, PowerPoint), go to File > Account > Account Privacy > Manage Settings.
- Under Connected experiences, clear the Turn on experiences that analyze your content checkbox.
- Select OK, and then close and restart the app.
SECOND UPDATE: Someone in the tags mentioned they could uninstall Copilot. Previously, you were unable to do so, however it looks like that option has been updated. Hurrah!
(THIRD EDIT: You still have to do this and disable Copilot in Word/other apps because it's built in. I hate everything.)
On your computer/smart phone, go to Settings -> Apps, and uninstall. Be aware that if you update from Microsoft 10 to Microsoft 11, it will reinstall Copilot. You also have to do this on your smart phone, as it is likely installed there as well.
If you use a school computer/family account that you don't have admin rights to, you may not have this option. You should hopefully be able to follow the steps in the first two posts to disable it.

I want to explain this a bit more since 'health' and 'biology' are loosely speaking, special interests of mine and also what I went to school for.
People SAY that your health 'suddenly' starts to decline in your 30s but that's not really a good way to put it A) bc that's not really accurate and B) bc it frames this decline as something inherent and unavoidable, which does nothing to convince you that you have some agency about this.
So I'm going to explain this in LOOSE NON-SCIENTIFIC language:
When you are an infant or child, you are actively growing. Nature is throwing tons of new cells into you bc your body needs to BUILD BUILD BUILD. What you're able to do, eat and heal from is all largely dictated by this-- for example little kids often LOVE sweet foods or dairy-like foods and are relatively less interested in anything else. This is bc their body is running on HIGH all the time since building body parts is very energetically intensive. They can eat a fistful of sugarcubes and burn them off in an hour. Ask me how I know.
When you are a YOUNG ADULT you are actually still developing to a secondary extent, but your bones and such are fused and now that development goes into solidifying the structure and also finetuning its reproductive capabilities and features-- these, too, are HIGHLY energy consumptive when they first come online. Nature is STILL, thus, throwing tons of energy and new cells your way hoping you'll do something cool with them. You regenerate very quickly, and recover from harm rapidly-- But please note: swift recovery from harm is not absence of harm. This most relates to the consumption of 'junk food' and alcohol-- many people say they could 'eat whatever they wanted and nothing would happen' when they're in their 20s or that they could go out drinking and 'not be affected'. You were affected. You didn't notice.
Once everything has come online you go into maintenance mode. Nature stops throwing excess cells and energy your way bc you don't need that-- your body is yours and you are now responsible for maintaining it...hopefully with what you learned by experience in your 20s. IF YOU WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION, you did not learn this, and are in for a surprise in your 30s bc your 'free recovery' subscription has ended. Recovery and maintenance- processes that are constant in the human body- now cost MINERALS & ELECTRICITY. You can go into DEBT now, and that debt will come in the form of joints that pop, inability to recover well, lowered immune function, and feeling like shit.
This debt accrues interest RAPIDLY once you hit 36-- the age of around 36 to 46 or so is a kind of reckoning stage where Nature assesses how well you've managed your body and you will be SWIFTLY downgraded if the result is you were just winging it.
So how do you build this account? 2 main things ( LOOSELY SPEAKING this is so not 100% scientific but I have to be general here): MINERALS -- you get these from eating well, mostly. You might want to take supplements based on your unique needs. But you need Minerals & Vitamins (i'm lumping these two together) bc they are the chemical building blocks (currency) your body uses to rebuild and fix up cells. ELECTRICITY is- again loosely speaking- having the proper chemical voltage throughout your body. This 'voltage' drops when you don't move enough, or when you're dehydrated. The building and repairing process your body wants to do may have the materials (minerals and vitamins) but there's not enough power in the factory, or the AC isn't working and the workers are overheating and can't work well. To fix this, drink lots of water and MOVE AND STRETCH your body. The action within your muscles and bones GENERATES ENERGY and it keeps your cells happy.
So the thing is, it's not that you suddenly find yourself taking damage after 30+. You were taking damage the whole time. You're just kept from really feeling it bc you're young and full of extra juice and given time to figure things out.
But at some point Nature expects you to do that, and you will pay if you don't.
Best to start out giving a shit, even if none of your friends think you're cool, even if you get called a 'health nut' bc you will still be able to frolick at 45, 50, probably so on while everyone who said it was dumb to have 'balanced meals' shares memes about how they wake up feeling like shit every day.
Sidenote don't let our shitty fatphobic society obscure the fact that it's okay to care about what you eat. Counting calories or being preoccupied with physical perfection is a sad way to relate to your body BUT that doesn't mean that paying attention to your diet AT ALL is bad. Baby, bath water, etc.

Btw, this also goes for things like ergonomics. You may have never needed good sitting posture, or lumbar support, or proper typing technique, or a monitor riser, or good shoe insoles, or... but the thing is, you did, though. You were taking damage the whole time, you were just healing so fast that you didn't notice. Back problems and repetitive strain injuries aren't inevitable in your 30s – but they're pretty inevitable if you go on treating your body as badly as you could get away with treating it in your 20s.
Just to add on, there is a global pandemic of lack of sleep occurring across the planet. Your body uses sleep to do an incredible amount of healing, recovering, growing, and cleaning out gunk in addition to encoding memories.
All the nutrients and exercise and drinking water won't truly help you if you're sleeping like shit every night, because you're not letting your body getting critical healing and recovery periods.
You don't get a second chance at sleep. If you learn something or experience something lovely & awesome and that night you sleep like shit, studies show you will NOT recall it nearly as well compared to if you sleep well.
You're not going to feel the impacts of poor sleep in your teens and 20s, but you increasingly will as you age. Your sleep quality WILL degrade as you get older, but there's things you can do now to improve what you've got, while you've still got it.

Some first-hand information on the current state of Venezuela
Tonight I had the privilege of hearing by video-call from Prof. Cira Pascual Marquina, political science professor at the Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela and popular commune educator in Caracas, as part of an event organised by Britain's Revolutionary Communist Group, and since there is a dearth of actual Venezuelan perspective here I thought I'd share some of what was discussed.
Firstly, if there were a single pair of Western journalistic eyes in Caracas it would instantly put to bed any notions of Maduro being an illegitimate leader, a dictator, whatever else. There are daily marches seeing tens of thousands of people take to the streets in support of Maduro, in support of the government - not only could we actually hear them in the background of Prof. Marquina's call from inside her home, but we also briefly heard & saw from another activist who was out in the streets elsewhere right at that very moment, we could see with our own eyes the massive support for Maduro and his government. Anyone telling you that his kidnapping is being celebrated, of all things, is selling you the most egregious of lies.
In fact, this attack has in actuality galvanised the Venezuelan people - many who were apolitical or even opposed to the government before have now come out in support of Maduro, in support of their national sovereignty, and explicitly in support of Chavismo. The Western reports of rifts, ruptures, divisions in the government or the army or whatever were never true but they are truly laughable now, unity between the people, the central government and the military has never been higher. Enormous numbers of people have flocked to join the militias, self-organised armed units supported by the government, to show the imperialist powers that they will not simply lie down in the face of aggression and they will never again be a colony.
Yes, there is some way to go in building socialism in Venezuela, there remain capitalist elements of the economy, but Maduro's government is committed to continuing the Bolivarian revolution - he directly supports the commune system, allocating funding from the government to the communes which people organise themselves and decide for themselves what their areas' priorities are, as well as centrally funding and building great amounts of public works and housing. Their education system too remains steadfastly communist, teaching Marxism-Leninism Bolivarianism-Chavismo alongside the sciences necessary to develop Venezuela's productive forces, which are as yet inadequate for the complete elimination of capitalism.
