Soulmates aren't just lovers you know

@smoozie / smoozie.tumblr.com

helloooo, I'm Smoozie and I'm super indecisive so everything here is changing all the time

“A kiss may be grand, but it won’t pay the rental, on your humble flat, or help you at the automat.”

Like literally the most famous song about how much girls love jewellry is just explaining the importance of getting jewellry for when your partner leaves you penniless and alone.

The founder of Girl Scouting in the US, Juliette Gordon Low, funded her first troop by selling her pearl necklace, which was her only belonging after her husband died and left everything to his mistress.

She founded Girl Scouts to teach girls self-sufficiency so they wouldn’t have to go through what she went through when her husband died and she didn’t know how to take care of herself.

I support the "fiction isn't real so nothing matters" mindset but tbf at a certain point it can tip over into "the curtains are just blue" territory

like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point

not all depiction is glorification but sometimes it is and you need to be able to tell the difference. not because your immortal soul will be tainted by reading The Bad One, but because you need to have reading comprehension skills

If you're in the US, now is a great time to talk to the young people in your life about the US military:

  • The recruiter is not your friend. The military employs child psychologists to learn how to make you think the recruiter is your friend.
  • The recruiter is allowed to lie to you and makes more money if they do.
  • The recruiter is paid a commission to groom children into cannon fodder.
  • The recruiter will tell you you're special and will go into special smart soldier programs instead of combat. They're lying.
  • The recruiter may tell you they can tell if someone can get PTSD or not and only recruit people like you, who won't. They're lying.
  • The recruiter may tell you you'll be too busy attending free college (!!) to go overseas. They're lying.
  • The recruiter may ask what countries you want to travel to and promise you bougie placements on military bases in those countries. They're lying.
  • Even "It's just four years!" is a lie - the government is allowed to hold you past your enlistment period with a stop-loss order.
  • The recruiter actually has zero power to decide anything that happens to you after you enlist and they more importantly don't care what happens to you.
  • If you enlist, you will be brainwashed to make you willing to do things to other humans that you would never be willing to do today.
  • You will be ordered to do things that will kill children. And you'll do them.
  • The military is not the only way or even the best way for you to go to college or start a career.
  • Military brainwashing will actually make you into a terrible university student because it degrades your ability to think critically and question your sources.
  • Having PTSD and/or a TBI will make it harder to be a student and keep a job.
  • Veterans' benefits suck these days.
  • Being a veteran drastically increases your risk of homelessness, suicide, alcohol and drug dependence, prison time, and becoming an abuser to your loved ones.
  • The military will expose you to chemicals that will drastically increase your chances of developing cancer.
  • The military will withhold information about your rights to conscientiously object after enlisting.
  • A lot can change in four years.

i know repeating gimmicks is kinda eh but they should.Do another 3rd life. Only the life system, no other special stuff . Maybe even another Last Life if youre feeling spicy. Last life was incredibly fun to watch

I would love a repeat gimmick, but I don't think 3rd life is the gimmick to repeat. I love it to death, but what made it good was that it was new and unexpected. The life series has become routine for creators, and it desperately needs a gimmick that will disrupt this routine. Doing 3rd life again will just force them into the same routine but without an eye-catching gimmick to distract from the rehashed plot beats.

Doing last life again, however, would be much more interesting. It's unfair to start, something that no other season plays with. Last life also forces alliances to break because of the "no team with red" rule, and the boogeyman drives a wedge between players. Maybe some tweaks could be made like removing the /give life command and allowing lives to be taken by killing green players instead, and maybe employing the "no sacrifices" rule on the boogeyman. But I think last life has the highest potential to break the current life series formula, especially if they take a long hiatus beforehand.

imagine going to a house party and ask to go to the bathroom and like theres a dark souls silver knight guarding a chest in there. and like you ask him to not look but he doesn’t respond at all. He’s not like agro, or staring at you with intent, but he’s FULLY aware of your presence and watching you like you intend to steal

Really enjoying the bathroom knight rp

Incredible Stuff. Based.

Okay the WEIRDEST THING is going going down right now

So some guy in Michigan in the US has just found a letter in his grandmother’s house; it seems to be a pen pal letter from 1973ish, and it’s from a young Welsh girl. In it, she lists:

  • Her name, and the names of her brother (Gwynedd) and sister (Catrin)
  • Their ages
  • Where she lives in Wales (Denbigh)
  • Her hobbies, including horse riding and reading pony books.

So this American dude decides to take a photo, whack it on Twitter and ask the only Welsh person he knows if there’s any way to track this Welsh girl down, because you know, ALL WELSH PEOPLE KNOW EACH OTHER, OBVIOUSLY

Except

I am furious to report that it has worked

Welsh person he tags doesn’t know, but takes up the challenge. Someone reckons the Catrin might be a woman who translated a hymn book once, and checks the foreword to see that the dates and ages do seem to be about right. Someone else suddenly has a brainwave - wait, isn’t she the mother of Steff, the comedian?

My husband gets tagged, takes one look at this letter, and is like “That is 1000% my aunt.”

So now it’s 20 to midnight, Steff’s aunt has obviously not yet seen the excited message to put Twitter out of their misery, and my mother-in-law is currently on the phone gleefully telling us that when that letter was written her sister had never sat on a horse in her life before, and she’d lied to an American pen pal for clout before the internet even existed.

Post Cymru Swyddogol (Official Wales Post)

official michigan post

A Welsh comedian, Elis James, does a radio show which has a segment called ‘Cymru Connections’ where another Welsh person calls into the show and he has 1 minute to question them about their life until he finds someone the both know. I’ve never seen him fail.

a lot of people say that if you dont have children or get married youll be lonely in your old age but from what ive seen retirement gives you so much more time to make friends. like all my grandparents are on good terms with their neighbors and have clubs and events and old friends they go on vacations with. my great aunt organises a secret santa with the people in her care home. its never too late.
