Not to continue to be negative but I hated the detail that Mr. Clarke seemed to find Erica annoying. He was endeared to Dustin for the same behaviours, but when Erica is over eager in class raising her hand because she's so bright and excited to participate, he sighs and asks for anyone else? But when Dustin does it he loves it? Get real.
Suddenly interested in what a potential friendship between El and Steve could look like.
Both have their intelligence challenged or overlooked despite both being intuitive and visual thinkers. I think that Steve would at first think that El is super weird and off putting, but once they start talking and El actually listens to him respectfully and starts to bounce ideas off of him, he'd be like. oh shit. This kid gets me.
I feel like he'd start to find her funny little mannerisms endearing. I think that she wouldn't necessarily think that he's 'cool,' but she'd appreciate that he doesn't have as many nerdy inside references that she doesn't understand.
I feel like there could be untapped potential there.
Imagine being Nancy Wheeler, leaving your small town and moving out to Massachusetts, going to a prestigious university, getting a job offered at the Herald, potentially finding love (with Robin) and getting to shed her old life and move on.
And coming home to see her baby brother still sitting in their parents basement, writing fantasy novels because he no longer wants to engage in the real world or his life, stuck in grief. Imagine how that would feel to her.
Me 🤝Mike Wheeler: Never getting over El
I wrote a fic called The Album before the finale came out because I wanted to write a story about El's humanity, showcasing her meaningful relationships with the other characters and to give her a memento to remember that love and humanity (plus Jonathan and El bonding). A gift for her to remember all of her little happy moments between the bad ones.
Now I'm picturing Jonathan gifting Mike the photo album because it is too painful for him to hold onto anymore, and Mike being able to relive all of his memories with El through little snapshots of time.
Duffers saying that the reason that the Demogorgon's and other creatures weren't present during the final battle was because 'it was a sneak attack' and 'Henry never in a million years would have guessed this.'
He looked into El's mind and saw out her plan??? Also it's a hivemind and the creatures should have been alerted to Henry the moment they attacked or be drawn to protect the hivemind? Huh???
omylife number 6 is made for henderhop, surely (not sure if this is meant to be an ask request game or not but consider this cheerleading either way)
New Years Dialogue Prompts
El swings open the door to the pub, holding it open for Dustin so he can quickly huddle inside. He’s shivering. Icelandic winters are no joke. His toes feel like they’re on fire even with two pairs of thick socks on. He’s certain that he has frostbite somewhere, but Dustin can’t bring himself to care. Not tonight. El closes the door after him, already taking off her coat and bouncing towards the counter.
“Halló elskan mín,” Says the old woman tending the bar, a smile blossoming onto her face as soon as she sees El. She peers over El’s shoulder at Dustin, and her eyebrows raise to her hairline. She cocks a coy smile at her and asks El a question that Dustin doesn’t understand. El quickly says something in Icelandic under her breath, like a secret, even though even if El was speaking at full volume Dustin wouldn’t understand.
There’s an old man playing the fiddle in the corner while other bandmates set up their instruments. El loves the music here. She had never seen live music before discovering this pub and now she goes once a week. It was the first place that she had brought Dustin two months ago when he found her.
I hope that now that El is free, she will be able to grow her hair out long and colour it when it starts to grey. That now that her body finally belongs to her and her alone, she gets tattoos of butterflies and flowers to represent the members of the party and her family (a blue butterfly for Kali, a tigerlily for Max). That she learns how to sew, and how to play piano, and a hundred other hobbies that she was never able to explore before. That she learns to ride horseback and moves freely through the mountains. That she sits next to the waterfalls and reads her books now that she has the time to do so and remembers how her loved ones used to read to her. That whether she goes by Jane, Eleanor or Elle that it is her choice. That wherever she is, she has found peace.
Max and her bff <3
I haven't cried this hard over a fictional character since Rose Tyler in Doomsday when I was twelve btw
You know that they should have gone with Henderhop from the start because if El was Dustin's girlfriend, he would not accept the whole 'oh yeah she is in a magical place with three waterfalls, no we can never see her again, yeah so sad.' He would work his ass off to figure out where she was hiding and try to find her.
