starting a collection of my favourite AO3 author’s notes
honourable mentions

saw an elderly woman walking around with a tote bag whose design were the four AO3 fic category squares and she very excitedly asked if i was a reader or a writer bcs nobody else at the con had recognized it, and after telling her that i've been writing fic since fanfic.net, she solemnly nodded and explained that she'd been reading fic since "the days of personal websites" but that she only started writing fanfic when she was 47 and oh my god when i tell you that i genuinely teared up on the spot!!!!! like!!! HELL YEAH???? LITERALLY NEVER TOO OLD TO START WRITING. NEVER TOO OLD TO WRITE AND SHARE YOUR FIC.
her enthusiastic "i'm a very nice and bubbly person, i swear! but i love writing angst and major character death :)" nearly took me the fuck out.
icon. legend. diva. i wish her nothing but a kajillion million comments and kudos. i hope her fic updates crash AO3. i hope she knows i'm promoting her to my personal patron saint of AO3.
Actually you don’t have to pick an aesthetic. I think picking an aesthetic kind of kills your creativity and individualism. No one was supposed to fit inside a mood board. Don’t turn art into a performance. Your expression is supposed to be messy, and felt, and you, not for the algorithm. Your expression is meant to be whatever you love, not altered to fit in.
Quick Argos sketch!! ft others sorta
i had no idea what to do for a background so i just threw... a little bit of everything up.
Anyway, i really wanted to give the way @thatgirlwithasquid draws Argos hair a go at least once! I find it very charming.
I sometimes like thinking about the mental/physical side effects of Lawrence going to The River so often. I had a conversation with someone once about how I think it affects his brain too, as if it was rotting from the inside out.
It affects his emotional stability and makes him experience unpredictable mood swings, becoming excessively angry, sad, apathetic at the smallest things. He can hardly regulate his emotions anymore and it will only get worse from there. If his social skills and social withdrawal were bad before, they will get progressively worse if he keeps going back to The River.
As the rot develops, his sense of identity and memory will be affected. He will experience pretty severe amnesia, and while at first it was only short term memory, it will spread to his long term memories- his history, personal facts, even his own name and people he considers friends. His identity will become muddled and he may, at some point, live in a weird state of existence where he doesn't know what or who he is (this would be in later stages when he's becoming The Lich).
The only real thing he may have a connection to is the river.
I think he will still find certain things, people, animals familar, but he will not know why. He will not know their names, or the connection he may have had with them.
Humble beginnings. <3
Following around your favorite plant monster before introducing yourself in a totally NORMAL way.
nothing wrong with... gathering a bit of info first...
Just gotta make sure you know enough to make the best first impression, ya know??? And if a few photos are taken in the process, that's fine! It's just a reference for... stuff... that's all.
It's fine to admire the environment!! And if your favourite scenery happens to have other people in it well, that's totally normal too!!
Even if the same person keeps showing up in all those scenic shots every time...
Every
time.

Argos strikes me as the kinda guy who doesn't drink enough water.
Too busy with all his jobs + his show + taking care of all his plants. Then there's all the time he makes sure he can spend with Mr. Plant.
I bet Argos makes 1000% sure all his plants get watered, but he constantly forgets to water himself.
He seems like the type to neglect himself accidentally cause he's too preoccupied trying to keep up with other things.
I kinda touched on this on a very old post, but it was focused more on his eating habits. Like, Argos to me is the kinda motherfucker you'd catch running out the door with a piece of toast in his mouth cause he didn't leave enough time for himself to make food.
Eats on the go all the time and is mostly eating whatever is convenient- so a lot of junk.
But don't get me wrong, to me he WANTS to cook for himself and eat healthy, he just doesn't have the time. But he'll do it when he has a moment to spare.
Whatever "healthy" looks like in the Void...
But when it comes to Mr. Plant, he 100% finds the time to cook and bake for him.
The silly eyeball manz.
Hiii if you don't mind i'm gonna mention a small headcanon of mine because it kinda ties to what you said about Argos's eating habits
So, in the newspaper in the unexpected visitor Argos talks about Mr Plant making him breakfast (ofc his specialty's fried oranges lmaoooo)
Basically, i think there's no way Argos makes himself a proper breakfast. And upon noticing that Mr Plant thought "there is NO WAY i'm letting this man not eat anything before starting his day" and took the matter into his own hands by making sure Argos at least eats something
internet friends are kinda like illegally downloaded friends. you don’t get the physical copy but you still get all the great content
reblog if you’d illegally download your followers
