For those who don’t know Mort, he’s a friendly guy who likes to try everything life has to offer. He may look scary with his big teeth and maybe a little dumb with his goofy eyes, but he’s as kind as kind can be.

Happy Mort Monday! To continue the weekly trend, I’m drawing a different image of Mort every Monday, and I encourage you to do the same!

Mort is the protagonist of the game I’m working on, and he’s a friendly, independent person who loves to explore and make friends. Here he is enjoying a net he found lying on the beach.

The background was generated using Stable Diffusion and some quick Photoshop. Seed: 742628001, prompt: “a soft watercolor of a beach on a warm day”.

Here’s a vector illustration of Mort with a background that’s made of a composite of a couple of AI generated watercolor backgrounds.

The style of the game is going to be 99% pixel art, but I do want to have some of these situations where you feel out of place against the visual style of the area you’re in.

This is a character I made a while back named Mort. On first glance people would think he’s scary because of his teeth, or dumb because of his goofy eyes, but Mort’s a kind hearted person who loves to make friends and help people.

Recently I’ve been working on an idea that’s been sitting in my head for years to make an RPG where you never have to fight. A cozy game where you meet people, make friends, go on a journey, and have fun while learning about yourself.

I think this game’s going to take me a long time to make, and I’ll probably end up needing some help, but I’m excited to spend more time with and thinking about Mort.
