I've been thinking about how shocked Trent was to discover Essek was leading the Kryn raid on Zadash (also a major deviation from the campaign I think?)
Like the last shot of him in season one is just mouth agape in disbelief that Essek turned on him, and not just because he had been underestimating Essek (which he was of course. Underestimating anyone who isn't him is one of Trent's favorite pastimes).
It was a good reinforcement of how narcissistic this old man is. For all his reputation as a master manipulator, he truly didn't realize he had been making an enemy out of Essek with his behavior when they were together because he's not capable of seeing other people as anything but potential pawns. That works at the Dwendallian court because his peers are all narcissistic sociopaths so he can understand how they think and what they value.
But people with moral compasses or professional ethics (which Essek has, even if he makes bad choices)? He can only guess what they care about, and with Essek he was wrong. It just does not compute.
He's thinking "We got away with it and we were making progress. We had so much power at our fingertips. How could you be so stupid?"
And he's never going to realize he was the stupid one. Good shit.
So @avatarinquisitor pitched an artistic collaboration where I would send them some loose pencil sketches that they would paint over and send back to me to finish with inks.

the thing about tumblr is that I'm so entrenched here that they can make stupid ugly updates to the site all they want. I'll just sign in and go "ugh fine, I'll work around it" and then continue to post things I wouldn't even tell a therapist.
