This week's fixation

Profile pic by Primo Banksy. Banner by @jk-bees. I haven’t been pieced back together with gold: There’s only crazy glue in these cracks. This pot leaks. OCCASIONAL N🍋S🍋F🍋W. This is a drama-free zone. Ship and let ship. Let me know if there's anything you want me to tag!

Too much movement makes your joints hurt and too little movement also makes your joints hurt. This would imply that there's an optimal amount of movement that allows your joints to not hurt. This is a lie.

The ideal is not doing too much of either at a time. Same with back pain, sitting too long and standing too long both trigger it, so you want to sit for a while, then move around for a while, keep changing.

btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:

Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!

especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)

Also good for artists drawing with pencils/on a tablet/with a pen!

Also good for writers

Naive question: What do test knitters get in return for testing a pattern? Are they paid? Do they get free yarn? They seem to be providing a valuable service that is demanding of time ($), yarn ($) and attention. Are they compensated in some way?

''I can be alone with you here'' actually means just as much, if not more, than ''I love you'' and I will die on this hill clutching spuffy to my chest
