Okay but now that the show has ended. Can someone go back and rewrite a Volume 2 that actually takes advantage of gothic husband Mike Wheeler who’s so sure of Will being a magical sorcerer and acts as an actual foil to Vecna who says they’re not his powers and that he infected the world. Will being the light and not the darkness that needs to be expelled from the world.

I still like byler but tbh the byler that I think about in my head has to take place in an alternate canon where the season went differently. as things happened in actual canon idk if I want byler to reunite in the future and I really don't want will to hold onto his feelings for mike after allat. free my boy

i still stand by everything i said in my stranger things aids essay by the way. despite the pitfalls of s5 i still think my interpretation holds up, despite my own personal opinions nothing in my analysis was based around ships or even that heavily focused on the ending of s5. what does upset and frustrate me though is the duffers' attitude towards the show in recent interviews. i'm unsure of whether it would be worth making a follow up video like i planned, though there's a LOT i can talk about in terms of the aidscoding this season, purely because i'm so fatigued by the loose ends and unsatisfying conclusions that the duffers have deemed uneccessary to care about. their consistent admissions of the lack of attention to detail and dismissal of their previous attitude of everything in the show being intentional is so demoralizing as someone trying to analyse the series. i do still maintain that despite this there has been at least some intentioniality from the writer's room in displaying this narrative, whether subconcious or not, and that it all holds up. and either way my essay was based more around my interpretation than the show's intentions and any follow up i may or may not do will be too. i just am frustrated by the show's drop of quality and the pervading narrative that none of the small details matter that the duffers have been pushing and if i were to make a follow-up it would probably have to include a level of critique as well which would make the whole thing more opinion based rather than analytical which is what i specifically chose to avoid as much as possible in my essay.

There is a universe where Mi/even is a beautiful story about an abused girl finding herself and family, and then falling in love. A story where she realizes she does belong, despite the world telling her otherwise

There is also a universe out there where Byler was endgame, and we got some of the best queer representation on TV ever.

Unfortunately for us, we get the double kill misogynistic, homophobic ending. Yay.
