9 Year Anniversary!

Hello once again my good peeps! I love sharing stories with others, it makes me feel like I get to gift good memories. Whether it be an epic story of fantasy, a story of romance and friendship that gives you hope, a story of sorrow that gives you permission to feel sad, scared, or whatever else. Stories are such a powerful tool to share a part of yourself with others and this project has kinda become my way of being part of that experience. I'm grateful every day that I made the choice 9 years ago to share the comics I have gathered with folks who can appreciate them.

You might have noticed I've slowed down to a bit of a crawl these past few months with updates to the Webcomic Library Database and I feel the need to be transparent that I'm in a bit of a low spot. I've had a lot of things going on with trying to keep my medical situation relatively stable as well as some insurance, financial and job related stressors. It's been a lot to work through with truly obscene amounts of paperwork that have been taking most of my energy.

I'm still reading in the background and maintaining my social medias to help yall find some great comic projects, but adding new works hasn't been as high on the priority list. I can't promise that things will get more consistent but know I'm still trucking away as best I can. Honestly, it seems there's always something trying to keep me away from doing the things I genuinely enjoy, but they haven't kept me down for good yet!

I wanna thank yall for continuing to stick around and support this project. I often struggle with putting some pretty high expectations on myself and I have an intense desire to do my best to support the comics shared through the Webcomic Library. Knowing that folks will keep enthusiastically engaging in whatever I get up to within the comics community means the absolute world. For as long as I'm able I'll keep sharing stories with yall in whatever ways I can!

Hello, my good peeps! This Hallowed season is associated with a broad variety of genres and tropes. Over the years The Webcomic Library has accumulated many of these into tags to help you find a story that'll suit your taste this season! Let's begin with the classic horror genre. From the surreal to the fantasy to the ones with a bit of truth there's a little of everything to explore!

For disability awareness month it's important to remember a lot of folks in the comics community are working with physical or mental issues. Encourage folks in the community to take care of themselves and advocate for better working environments on and off the web! So many peeps I know struggle with burnout due to the long hours art takes. A lot deal with back, arm, and joint pain from sitting for long periods. All that's while working with any spectrum of physical or mental disabilities! It's a fantastic medium for expressing all the variety of the human condition but it also poses distinct challenges. The number of people working in the industry who aren't sufficiently paid with the effort they put in is staggering. It's a field that often encourages unhealthy standards even if you're fully able and since many work contract getting proper medical support is a battle. Support your comic creators!

Happy Pride Month, my good peeps! One of the big motivators early on in the Webcomic Library's creation was the fact that one of the biggest questions I regularly came across in my circles was where others could find stories that represented their identities. Being an aro/ace queer myself, I had found solace myself in finding comics with lgbt+ identities and being able to point people directly to a medium with such a vibrant queer presence brought me a feeling of purpose. The power of seeing a facet of who we are in the characters who inspire us and feel more comfortable being ourselves is something valuable that's worth sharing. When the Library of Congress picked up the Webcomic Library to archive the comics community due to its documentation of LGBT+ representation it only furthered my enthusiasm. Today I have over 30 tags dedicated to showcasing LGBT+ representation and over 1,500 series have canonical queer characters.

I hope to continue exploring stories with you all and I hope yall will find stories that speak to you today!

Hello, my good peeps, and happy Webcomic Day! It brings me so much joy to see people enthusiastically sharing their little corners of the community and want to offer mine. I have been working for over 7 years documenting stories that the webcomic medium has to offer. I keep track of everything from the basic info publishing platforms and genre to more the more subjective like lgbt+ representation and content warnings.

I've been involved with many a community building project over the years like discords, virtual cons, and the Library of Congress actively uses my database and this very tumblr to document stories! I currently have a new major project I'm hoping to give more details on soon so keep a lookout for that.

Thanks for taking the time to today to see what this medium has to offer and I hope you have found some stories that bring you joy today!

I told a stranger this little bit of advice earlier today and I think more people need to hear it: People not interacting with your work is a morally neutral thing, especially when you're just starting out.

Not getting the interaction you're wanting doesn't mean your work is inherently bad. Doesn't mean your stories are not worth the time to be heard. Doesn't mean you're incapable of growth.

Being a part of the comics community is less about trying to fit in and finding complete validation from others and more about building a space all your own and inviting others to join you. People will come and go but you're the one whose opinion and attention matters most. That space is gonna grow and change as you go through that but the thing is you've gotta put in the work to make it exist, and we all start somewhere.

Be kind to the present you, look forward to the future you, and be proud of what those two yous can make together.

Hey jsyk I think this blog is shadowbanned, I can't see the library in my notifications at all. It happened to my friend last year and she had to email support and wait forever for them to fix it

To be completely transparent, this has been an ongoing issue I'm not sure I can ever get fixed. In fact, I've been dealing with posts here being buried since a little over a year from when the Webcomic Library first started.

Tumblr's system isn't that big of a fan of external links. Now, most social media sites aren't, but with the sites history of struggling with bots and less curated format it gets more obvious. If you look up "webcomiclibrary" on the search feature the only posts that come up are the handful of ones with no links and a few made by others. My blog won't even show up.

Being someone whose dayjob is in content moderation I can empathize with why this is in place. The sheer scale of what tumblr has put together is a battle to keep clear, especially when you take into account guideline put in place by app stores, banking platforms, and other organizations that community spaces like this have to rely on for income.

For this blog, however, this is a major roadblock. The Webcomic Library is a space built on sharing the works of others and promoting ways to support those efforts. The extremely vast majority of comic creators aren't souly publishing on Tumblr, including me. The Webcomic Library's biggest features are the database and its documentation by the Library of Congress. I make an effort to source all the works I can to their original creators and include ways to directly support them.

Because of this I had to pull back on making original posts and the few I do make often get missed by other people like yourself for the same reasons you described. For a number of years now I've played with the idea of making an independent site, but I lack programming expertise and am not confident in my ability to keep it filled with completely original content on my own.

All this to say that The Webcomic Library relies more heavily on word of mouth than the average project. If you enjoy my work reblog posts, share the database with your friends, submit stories you think are worthwhile. This tumblr is where the project started and I'm far from abandoning it anytime soon.

Hello, my good peeps! I wanted to give a little update to where I'm at with my work on the Webcomic Library. As many of you may already know, last year I had to step away for a while due to medical reasons. While my condition lot more stable now I still have a lot going on with doctors, treatments, and some major procedures to plan for.

Right now, however, I'm calling this the year of the "Get Luma to Touch Grass" initiative. I went to Ikkicon this Winter and got an offer to potentially panel with a comic creator. I met some lovely folks at the Bunt! signing who I'm hoping to meet up with as well. I also been seeking out opportunities to volunteer at my local libraries and learn more about the more formal side of things. Plus, at the beginning of the year I got onboarded to a special project I've been working on these past few months! It's still in the early stages so there's not much to share yet but if you already enjoy the work The Webcomic Library is doing I'm sure you're gonna love this!

Next month is going to be busy as well. I'll be going to Staple! in Austin on April 13th and 14th and in May I've finally got the clearance to go to TCAF in Toronto, Canada. I'm extremely exited to meet up with more comic friends locally and beyond!

All the while I've been playing catch up with the Webcomic Library database. Series by series I've been catching up my reading while updating tags, art, and other information while also working to add more new comics for yall to check out. I've even been getting a bit of help from folks submitting new series and helping to update previous entries.

There's still a long way to go but I'm so glad to find my stride again. I have so much to be grateful for and I'm glad that one of those things is that I get to keep sharing stories with you all. If any of you are interested in helping support this project and what I'm doing, I encouage you to check out my linktree. I have links for submitting and updating series, different places on social media I inhabit, and different ways to donate so we can keep exploring this community together. Thank yall for joining me here in my little pocket of the internet!

One of the things I enjoy about working with webcomics is that I get to grow along with the stories. Time passes me by, I get new jobs in the background, more experience, and bond with friends.

While I do that I get to see how an art style changes overtime, the characters I fell in love with become a little more experienced. I watch creators find their confidence, build something for themselves, and build something completely them.

At the end we're all growing a little closer together through a medium filled with love and it makes my days a little brighter!

Hiya peeps! today marks the 7 year anniversary of the Webcomic Library. What started as a way for me to sort my collection of comics and recommend stories to friends has become something beyond anything I could have imagined. I look at what we've accomplished here and can't help but feel awe. It's hard to comprehend how much this project has changed my life. I've made so many friends, watched so many people I have come to admire grow, switched careers, made something that will be used for generations to come, and so much more.

As I've stated previously my journey over this past year regarding my health has been rough to put it mildly. While I hope the darkest part of it has passed I still am looking at countless doctors appointments, treatments and surgeries for my Ulcerative Colitis and other conditions in the next year(s) to come. This time last year I was just starting to try and get answers and fighting to stay out of the hospital due to the immense amount of pain I was in.

I've had to put so much on hold to make sure I could come back, including the Webcomic Library, and the fact I had to make that decision at all still breaks my heart. Despite all of that, I'm still proud to say that I'm still here. Granted, I'm not in any position to put in as much as I've been able to in the past, but I've begun picking up where I left off. I've started posting to Bluesky and been having a ball! I've also been slowly adding more comics to the database.

Most importantly, the step back has given me the opportunity to look and see where I wanna take this project. I've done a lot over the years and the central point of everything has always been the database. In the coming year I want to get back on top of my backlog of updates as well as adding new stories for yall to explore.

I'm starting with revamping my submission form to be a bit more user friendly in the hopes of documenting more than I can on my own. I'm always asking for help with this and now more than ever I need it. I'm also looking into working more closely with comic groups and publishers to expand my collection. When I get caught up with my backlog I'm hoping to work on adding and editing my tags.

It's been a long road and there's a further stretch ahead, but I'm far from done yet. Seeing how the Webcomic Library has helped people find stories that touch them, creators find inspiration and motivation, and just helped the broader community... it keeps me going. I'm so lucky to do what I do. Thanks for giving me that chance.

Hiya, peeps! The Webcomic Library has spent a lot of time documenting comics from all over the LGBT+ spectrum over the years. On this Bisexual Visibility Day we have over 375 comics from all over the web with canon Bisexual representation! From sweet romances to dramatic adventures I hope you're able to find a story in our collection that speaks to you!

Welcome to The Webcomic Library!

Of course, I do more outside of the database. I'm active on Tumblr, Twitter, and Bluesky boosting comics, sharing resources, and general comic ideas and news. I also currently have a discord for people in the community to meet (PM for an invite), I've run a virtual convention in the past, and collaborated with many platforms and collectives including Hiveworks, Webtoon, and Screentones. Thanks to the work I do here, my dayjob currently is at Tapas as a Content Moderator . The Webcomic Library is currently actively archived by the Library of Congress, including my Tumblr, as part of their efforts to document the broader comic community. To put simply: I get around!

Being a one person project I do a lot of legwork to maintain and expand my efforts. That being said, I could always use help and support to bring the Webcomic Library to heights I couldn't achieve on my own. You can help this project by:

I'm really proud of everything I've done with the Webcomic Library over the years. I love working to bring stories to others and support the creators that make them. The plans I have to continue bringing that passion to yall is exiting and I'm elated to share what I have in store. If you're interested, I'd love to have you join me in this journey!
