@yeoldecryptid

So, I watched Farinelli recently, and there was a scene where the main character was writing… in front of like seven candles on a wooden table in a wooden barn. This gave me an idea…

Rules I was thinking of (constructive criticism encouraged.)

  1. No fantasy films, the reason being because for are we know, the characters have some magical solution to prevent the dangers of over-candling.
  2. No ‘vegetable films,’ aka, films that tackle serious, dark parts of history, (slavery, colonialism, genocide, etc.) basically, if it would be inappropriate to joke about, it’s not going to be included.
  3. No Gaiman, Orson Scott Card, or Rowling, (I don’t think they have any historical fiction, but just to be safe.)
  4. While I won’t say no to suggestions, I’m not going to watch a film that doesn’t interest me just because people keep asking for it.
  5. No films that take place after the year 1880, as it is the year the lightbulb was patented. I am well aware that people used candles as their main form of lighting long after that, but this is just to standardize things.
  6. If the over-candling does start a fire, the count will not start over, (because I can tell the characters ‘I told you so.’) however, I will mention it in the post.
  7. Tv shows are allowed. However, they will be counted by episode in a separate series.

I will provide context for the scene of over-candling, and, if I feel like it, a thought or two about the film.

Example: it has been 0 films without an over-candling incident.
