Chase is already House by the end of season 3. They really rub it in by making him do the whole detective thing where he deduces Foreman's reason for leaving through a bunch of House-esque assumptions based on behavior that just turn out to be true. I don't think it was some masterful writing that caused the show to "tell you Foreman's becoming House while showing you Chase becoming House," I think they pretty obviously just decided it should be Chase instead at some point during season 2 or 3.
As a fandom we don’t talk enough about how Foreman pretended to be the homeless woman’s dead husband and forgive her for the accident (that wasn’t her fault but has plagued her with guilt for years) just so she could finally experience some peace before death. Like what a risky but hugely sympathetic and merciful thing to do. He wasn’t really messing with her emotions, so to say, because she already thought he was her dead son or husband coming to take her to the afterlife and she was in such a vulnerable state.
There’s so much fight in dying, she was delirious and exhausted. Sure the doctors kept her alive a little longer but that forgiveness was the most valuable thing she could have gotten. It was the one thing she needed more than anything in order to let go and, in this case, pass away

im gonna start making coherent posts again some day but im. just thinking hard. about how house for some reason knew that wilson was wearing this lavender shirt "for someone" like why does he keep track of his wardrobe. or that other episode where he knew he was wearing that one tie to "look pretty" okay gregory house who doesn't even remember his patients names sometimes why are you keeping track of your best friends entire wardrobe and why do you know precisely what shirts he wears to look cute
I like that in s8 when Wilson is giving himself the cancer treatment in House’s apartment, the pain brings out the worst in him and he says pretty mean things to House (admittedly it was a bit deserved) and then once he recovers he’s like “Is this how you always feel?” And it’s such a moment of sheer understanding, that yes pain really does bring out the worst in people — it means so much to me that they reached a deep raw understanding of each-other even if it was through pain.
