When a dragon enters Kujaku's studio, they find themselves briefly stunned by all the glamor and dazzle: cosmetics in glittering jars, glass shelves and ornaments, furniture richly upholstered in gemstone-colored leather. Kujaku herself stands nearby, next to a gigantic mirror. She swivels a deep, plush chair towards her client and motions for them to take a seat.
"I see beauty in your future," she says with a wink. "Let's make it happen, shall we?" |

STORY
Kujaku had always had an eye for beauty. As a child, she loved the glittering sky and foliage of the Starfall Isles; but as she grew older, she became more intrigued by the idea of creating beauty, rather than simply admiring what nature had produced. Even the plainest dragon, with the right care and clothing, could seem like a dazzling divinity. Could she spin the same designs for others someday?
She practiced with her friends: painting each others' faces and claws, copying designs from codices, sharing dreams and ideas, and laughing at the results. It became a game, Kujaku using her seer skills to envision how a friend would look with certain kinds of makeup and clothes. The other young dragons were happy to assist, waving apparel and sketches before the Wildclaw. "Maybe this one?" they suggested, holding up a sylvan headdress. "Or this one? Or this, or maybe this..." The visions were at first of her friends smeared with paint, prancing around in ill-fitting clothing. But as the years passed, Kujaku saw how their appearances improved: In her visions, they slowly started to become grander, more stylish. She looked closer, saw that the makeup had been applied with more skillful hands. "Can I do that, too?" she asked herself. "Or perhaps... "Will I do that, too?" Using her visions as a guide, Kujaku honed her craft. She didn't always have an eye for clothing, but she became more skilled at using cosmetics and body paint. The makeup, of course, would wash off after a while. Yet even so, for a few glamorous hours, her art would grant them the gift of confidence. A couple of Kujaku's friends had settled in the Sunbeam Ruins, and she soon joined them there. The brightness and bustle of Lanternlea Port suited her just fine, too. Her visions and art, and the way they're so closely intertwined, remain something of a puzzle. Other dragons have noted how interesting it is, that as Kujaku's makeup skills improve, so too do the images in her visions. More than once, scholars have asked her, "Are you really seeing what will come to pass? Or are you making it so?" Kujaku doesn't care. She didn't come here to debate with scholars, after all. Beauty has always been the goal, and with her sharp eyes and skills, it's one that she can attain—and help others attain—every single day.
