A purple-scaled Wildclaw stands in the center, magic cards orbiting around them as they seemingly stare into nowhere in particular. Elsewhere is in the middle of an important vision. Their cards accelerate and decelerate at random intervals as they journey through their dreamlike trance. “The future of all our children?” Three more Wildclaws trod up to the smaller dragon. The speaker is Dusk, a seer of the past. “Hm,” Elsewhere hums in response, “I’m not getting much.” “Maybe it’s not for us to know,” Misshapen muses out of experience, “What did you end up seeing?” “They’re blessed by the stars, too. Well, elsewhere. A young Wildclaw had wandered far from home in an attempt to chase the stars. He adored watching the night sky twinkle with light during the bleak nights spend in the Parched Canyonwalks. He always felt so far from them, the lights that danced across the void... So he left to pursue them. He could always predict what his foes would do to try and get the upper hand on him in battle. He predicted where he could find food, shelter, water... all thanks to his obsession with the stars. By their light, he had become a Seer, able to tell the future in a multitude of ways. He wanted more. More stars to power his abilities, he thought, would be the answer to all of his life's problems. His constant struggle with survival left him yearning for greater power to overcome life's burdens once and for all. He'd heard about the Starwood Strand, a place where the stars had touched Sornieth and decided to stay.[/columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]As his mind floods with visions of the future, memories of the past start to disappear. All of those he's met in the past become silhouettes without faces, without names. Daily, his clan members need to remind him of who they are, and even who he is. With great power comes great risk as he threatens to lose sight of all he's ever known.[/left] ----- [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]Native to the Starfall Isles, the young Wildclaw had trained in the art of future sight for as long as he could remember. It did not come naturally to him, and he prides himself in being able to learn such a unique skill. He was always bullied by his peers, making fun of his "false" visions and dreamy personality. He never let it get to him, but with these revelations came a new name: Misshapen. [columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]When his training had reached a peak, he left to travel the lands, providing his services to creatures all across the Starfall Isles. He wound up scaring most folks he provided services to with oddly specific sights. This prompted Misshapen to question whether or not he should peer into his own future; what revelations could he behold? It was tough for him. He could see a multitude of random visions, but none pertaining to his own demise. He used to spend days in trance, attempting to reach his life's conclusion, yet none would present itself. It wasn't meant to be, he thought to himself one day, years later, as he accepted he would never know how to prevent the end.[nextcol][url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/69147385][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/691474/69147385_350.png[/img][/url][/columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]His visions ended up with him traveling to the Starwood Strand, and he discovered a group of misfits and outliers: the skyward watchers. He had known this part of his journey, where he'd join likeminded folks who took up residence among the stars.[/left] ----- [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]Visions of the past, of the Wyrmwound's many victims, scared him beyond disbelief. The ways that the Wildclaw of the land would push opponents into the disease ridden cauldron, only to die horrible, slow, painful deaths... Was this what was in store for him if he stayed? This was no way to live! So he ran, and ran, and ran, until he ran into the sky-- a land where the stars touched the earth. Time flies when you're lost within visions of the past. He was inspired by the night sky and the trees around him, as they were the only things there for him in his time of need, and used their gift to power his abilities. Dawn, as his namesake would lead others to believe, was named after the time of day where the millions of lights in the sky would disappear. He'd always dream of their return whilst they were away. Eventually, Dawn was found by scholars of the Astrolodome who were out on a field trip. They took him back and entered him in courses to strengthen his intellect and, in turn, his ability to see the past with accurate detail.[/columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]Dawn returned with his best friend, Dusk, to the Starwood Strand. The site of their original meeting place was the ideal place to start a family. Other stargazers gladly invited them into their clan and henceforth, the skyward watchers gained another pair of Seers.[/left] ----- [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]Dusk was sent to study at the Astrolodome the moment she could speak. Without parents' love as she grew up, she felt like she always had to present herself with kindness and acceptance for others who may also have suffered the same fate as her. Thus, she was always a popular kid; it's hard to not be when everyone regards you so highly. [columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]She put everything she ever had into her studies, and grew to love her foster parents who housed her during her time as a scholar. Never had she had the intent of returning to her original parents, and she dreamed of living out in the Starwood Strand, for the locale's beauty was, in her opinion, the grandest in all of Sornieth. That was her plan the moment she was able to venture out on her own. Visions of the past began as soon as her best friend arrived at the Astrolodome. Dawn was touched by the Starwood Strand-- the location where he was found-- and some of that magic rubbed off on Dusk as they spent more and more time together. She was an excited parent, and wanted to shower her children with love and guide them onwards under the sparkling sky.[/left] ----- [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]Oath gained their powers later on in their life. They were a rather unimpressive Wildclaw residing in the Shrieking Wilds, until they heard of a few others gaining the powers of seers by stargazing at night. It took years for the stars to bless them in the same way, and they almost gave up on their dream, and instead, started stargazing at night for the simple joy of imagining the wider world.[columns][url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/83658698][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/836587/83658698_350.png[/img][/url][nextcol] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]It came to them in a dream one night. They pictured the Starwood Strand, a location spoken of by a few members of the Shrieking Wilds community. There, they saw the two other seers training where their powers felt unlimited. That seemed dangerous. Their feet leading them onward the next morning, they found themself traveling to the Starfall Isles to see if they really had become a seer as well.[/columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]They found Elsewhere there, along with a few other members of a clan residing in the Starwood Strand. The other seer they had seen in their vision had left. Another named Misshapen had taken their place, and it appeared two seers of the past had turned up as well? all who used the stars to power their abilities. Oath felt at home among them and chose to stay. Folks they could relate with were all they had ever wanted, and what a loving group of dragons and beastfolk they had received.[/left] ----- [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]Solace had a special place in her heart for the stars she had often been unable to see in her youth. The glow of the lava in the Ashfall Wastes often made it extremely hard to see the night sky. Light pollution from the Emberglow Hearth broke her heart. She'd find herself running away from home at night simply to catch a glimpse of the stars and dream of constellations upon her return.[columns] [left][font=Sylfaen][size=4]She started getting visions of different locations in the world after enough visits to the outskirts of the Ashfall Wastes. There was one place in particular where she felt like she belonged: the Starfall Strand. Infinite stars dotted the sky and trees, and it felt like no more than a dream. How could such a place exist? As the nights wore on, she pictured a route to take to find such a place, and left on a long, arduous journey. Her wings gained the sheen of the stars on her travels, though her visions did not grow any stronger. She caught glimpses of other seers who resided in the Strand, and swore to train with them to one day rival them as an equal. Under Oath's wing, she continues to train to strengthen her abilities. Mayhaps one day, she will be able to view a vision in its entirety, rather than bits and pieces like she is able to now.[/left] ----- [center][font=sylfaen][size=5]Something stirrs within the Starwood Strand...[/size] [size=4]The trees appear to be moving. This is nothing like the branches of the Starwood swaying in the breeze; the trees themselves are walking. Step by step, long forgotten dragons return to the land where the night sky has settled. They had foretold new hatchlings would be arriving. With wings outstretched, frozen by opalescent bark, they walk into view. Two Wildclaws, afflicted by... something, stand proudly in front of the other seers. "Are we too late?" The Wildclaw with larger branches sprouting from his scales asks. Elsewhere knew these folks better than most. In the past, late at night, he'd whisk away to the depths of the Starwood Strand to train under the tutelage of Leonid, the dragon who had just spoken. Back then, Leonid's scales had just solidified. He was nothing like this walking tree he now sees before him, but Elsewhere can't recall who they were anyways. The others aren't happy to see them. As far as Misshapen, Dawn, and Dusk had been concerned, Proteus and Leonid had sabotaged their friend in the past, urging him to use more magic to power his visions than he previously had been. His memory is unstable as a result, and these two newcomers were to blame. Seeing as they were not welcome back, Proteus and Leonid turn to leave with a shrug. They could not spread their wisdom here. They can peer into the past, present and future at will. Their magic, like the other Starwood Seers, is powered by the stars and trees around them. After years of abusing the source, patches of bark had grown over their scales, and branches have grown over their wings. No longer limited by the locale of the Starwood Strand, they travel Sornieth, interfering with events foretold by their visions. The trees on their backs allow them to reach their full potential, even when far away from the land rich in Arcane magic. Their hatchlings are blessed by the Starwood Strand, magically and physically. They hatch from their eggs with patches of opalescent bark on their scales, but the affliction doesn't seem to be growing. Some are clairvoyant, and able to gain insight on events happening elsewhere in the world at that very moment.
