MARI
She/Her - Diver - Lawful Good ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"I gotta recognize the weapon in my mind."
The ocean depths have nothing on what she sees in her dreams...
Mari's gift had always been through her dreams. As a hatchling, she would catch glimpses of the future as she slept and they always pointed to something that lay beneath the waves. And so the little wildclaw dove, she dove as deep as her body would let her and with time, Mari could be under the oceans for hours if not days depending. Each time she resurfaced, her eyes darkened and her dreams became more frightening, until that one fateful dive that left her changed forever.

STORY
Both of her fathers insisted that Mari go help the Fathoms and the water flight oracles search for what the pod believed to be clues to where the Tidelord had gone. Her gift would be instrumental in the search, she had the upper hand given she could see the past and the present along with the future. With both curiosity and resignation, Mari left the Starwood Strand to find the clan she had foreseen herself living with.
Once arriving, Mari threw herself into the surf to start the first of many dives she would come to love. Days and visions had passed, but nothing had been found. Her visions had begun to darken, showing her glimpses of her parents' transformations with screams and howls of pain as their wings became the trees that they are now. Each vision she had, only grew in intensity and woke her with a start. She knew she had to start making connections to the clan she was staying with or it would only get worse. Mari couldn't possibly accurately help the oracles or the pod if she was getting little to no sleep from the night terrors that were beginning to plague her. The wildclaw went to the clan's shaman Azrael to see if he had something that would at least maybe help her sleep at night. Mari steered clear of Aysu as she knew that following in Maximilian's steps would only spell disaster for her. She could not let what had become of her parents happen to her, there was no need to tempt fate. Azrael gave Mari a salve that was to be applied to her eyelids so as to coax her to restful sleep each night. With thanks, she happily took it and for the first time in a long while, rested easy. Mari continued with her dives, continued with the effort of clearing rubble from the oracle's heart, not noticing that her own eyes had begun to change. The whites of her eyes had turned black, stained from all of the nightmares that were being held back from Azrael's salve. On her last dive as a wildclaw, Mari dove into the depths determined to find what had been buried in the cave left behind by the maelstrom. As she dug, bubbles that whispered to her floated up, whispering to her to turn back. To stop. Ignoring the warnings, she pulled at the boulder that had given her trouble and became ecstatic when it rolled free. Not able to savor the moment further as the bubbles cascaded into her, Mari lost the fight against the undercurrent and was swept away deeper into the heart. Upon regaining her senses, Mari swam to a pocket cave that had been below the surface and gasped for air as she broke the surface. She hauled herself out of the water, confused as to why she felt heavier as opposed to how she was before today's dive. Her eyes had a hard time adjusting to her new surroundings but when she gazed upon the water's surface, she held her maw shut in shock. Not only had she finally noticed her eyes had changed, but she herself looked like one of the dragons that made the pod. Knowing she had to get back to the clan, as she couldn't understand both what had happened to her and what the cascade of bubbles had actually said, Mari dove back into the water and began to swim back to the ocean's surface. On the way up, she spotted a lone Fathom that to the untrained eye, seemed to be teleporting to and fro. Mari called out to them to have them join her as it wasn't safe. The fathom looked at her curiously for a moment then popped in next to her. Later, Mari would learn that his name was Afon and he too had come here under the pretense that he was needed, but hadn't figured out for what just yet. Mari simply smiled as the future had already told her why he was here. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ |

"Dragons with dark sclera arcane eyes get visions of the past, present, and future, but only whilst they are asleep. They tend to be nightmares.."
