@Tanglefire
I'd like to use the two nests I just turned in to charge the shields fully, and then put the rest of my points into charging the regular cannons! Better to be safe than sorry'

Also Please rest if you have a headache... your brain is so much more important than dragon game I promise

Logan’s Journey

“Attention Eurydice, setting sail in five minutes! All — aboard — !”

Kyrenia put down the loudspeaker, peering down from her position atop one of the masts. Down on the deck The Eurydice crew were scurrying about, rushing to load the remaining supplies onboard and readying for the flight. Aegaeon had sent their best engineers, who had completed the final maintenance and were signalling green light to her from the docks.

Humming in rhythm to the crew reports over the intercom, she whipped out the pen that was tucked on her crest, excitedly ticking off the entire pre-flight checklist.

Food and rations…check! Engineering checkups…check! Scanning radars…check! The other captain…

Her pen stopped and hovered above the last checkpoint, which was bolded and underlined with red.

…Yes, where did her co-captain go?

She leaned forward with her telescope, searching for the guardian with no avail. A loud blare of a horn sounded nearby, as the docks control centre signalled for their clearance to take off. The brows began to roll up, as the silver vessel powered up its engines in a loud grunt. The mirror cursed slightly under her breath, leaping off the mast for a better search. As funny as it would be, the captain missing his own flight would be an absolute disaster.

“Wait!! Wait for me!! Don’t leave yet — !!”

Kyrenia turned midair, just to see her dear co-captain furiously flying towards the ship from behind. The heat from the back engines warped the air around him, turning the guardian into a desperate distorted blob in her view. She frowned, mind quickly estimating the distance between Llmabros and the ship.

Another horn sounded — the mooring lines detached. The Eurydice began to rise.

The mirror grabbed onto the nearest rope on the mast, swinging it towards the guardian and beginning to pull with all her might. Llambros barely managed to catch the toughened cord with his jaw, letting it pull him up the vessel and barrelling straight into his co-captain. The two landed on the deck with a loud thud, startling the crew around them.

The mirror leapt up, smoothening her ruffled uniform. “You’re an idiot! You nearly missed your own ship, Mr. Captain Llmabros!”

Llmabros laughed sheepishly. “I actually have a good reason for this.” He reached into his pocket. A small ball of turquoise peeked out. A Raptorik Freebooter. Llambros placed it on his head, letting it dance on his horn. “I saw this little one circling our ship continuously for the past week, like it wanted to come with us. But every time I approached it it started running! Well, today it finally let hold it!”

“You’re an absolute idiot!” Kyrenia laughed.
She made a little face at the familiar. “…No escape now, little thing! You’re stuck with us on our adventure!”

The guardian chuckled, getting up to head towards the pilothouse. The vessel had risen nearly to the clouds, sails billowing in the cold morning air high above. In the distance, the shoreline of the Starfall Isles glowed under the birthing dawnlight, lining the horizon with warm pink. Waves lapped gently below them, bidding farewell to the Eurydice with a trail of reflected starlight that was fading with the dawn.

Starfall Isles. Home.
Llmabros closed his eyes. Somewhere in him, somehow, the idea that home will always be waiting behind was reassuring.

He turned around to see Kyrenia and the rest of the crew smiling at him.

“Well, sail off, Eurydice!”

Please!!” The poor aether, just here as an intern, was practically tearing up and shaking in panic when Llmabros opened the door. The Raptorik Freebooter, which was riding on his shoulder, jumped at the sight and started squawking at the intern, which unfortunately gave them an additional fright. By the time he had reached the bridge, Kyrenia was already there and frowning at the control panel. The standard radars were showing up completely blank on the screen, almost as if they were shut off. The status reports, however, all lit up green as normal. The guardian looked up. Outside the window was what appeared to be dense fog that surrounded their entire view. The gloomy grey seemed to be creeping in from all sides, its darkness stretching onwards into the unknown. “Wicked clouds,” he remarked, starting to understand why the intern was so panicked. “…Should we slow down? While I don’t expect anything at our altitude out here, we might ram into something at this rate.” “Not that we can find any crystals with this visibility as well,” the mirror turned to face him. “The clouds tend to be less dense near the sea level, if we want to try.” She suggested. Llambros paused to consider for a moment, before nodding in agreement. Losing their ability to navigate was otherwise too much of a risk. He pulled onto the descent lever, hearing the ship give a low hum before they began to lower. “We’ll then be prone to hostile attacks from the sea though.” “I’d take monsters over a crash any day.” Kyrenia stuck out her tongue. Their cannons were charged, and so were their shields — it shouldn’t be that much of a concern either. “I’ll make you a good seafood boil out of them.” Llmabros was about to laugh, when the ship suddenly lurched with a loud groan. [emoji=nautilus size=1] ???? [emoji=nautilus size=1] Kyrenia grabbed onto him instantly, both falling low onto the ground to steady themselves. They waited for any other crashes or collisions, but nothing answered. Silence. Exchanging a quick look and recognising the alarm on each other's face, the two captains rushed out of the bridge. The Eurydice had indeed reached her appropriate height, hovering at around twenty metres above the turbulent waves. The clouds had also thinned down here, the radar lighting up again as they began to map out their near surroundings. Something, however, felt deeply wrong. It was too quiet, so quiet that…it was completely silent. No crashing of the waves, no whirring of the engines, no flapping of the sails in the wind, not even any cries from their crew. Almost as if all the sounds in the world had been swallowed. The two Aegeons scanned their surroundings, dropping into defence positions. Down below the waters foamed and lurched, as if a storm was constantly brewing in its depths. Though no light could be seen with the thick clouds above, the waters seemed to glow, tinted in an eerie blue-green colour that disappeared when stared at for too long. The haze no longer completely obscured their view, but it revealed all but pitch black in their path ahead. And then they heard it. A very faint sigh. A call, they knew somehow. But it was a call that definitely wasn’t a sound made by a dragon. Someone, no, something is calling. The Eurydice sailed on in the darkness, silent. Llambros awoke to one of the junior crew members banging on his door.

“Captain — please wake up!! We’re losing visibility fast!! Please!!”

The poor aether, just here as an intern, was practically tearing up and shaking in panic when Llmabros opened the door. The Raptorik Freebooter, which was riding on his shoulder, jumped at the sight and started squawking at the intern, which unfortunately gave them an additional fright. He proceeded to spend the next fifteen minutes trying to calm down this poor aether that was convinced that they were all going to crash and die.

Well, they weren’t that wrong. Losing navigation sight is dangerous on any sort of flight. The guardian thought as he finally headed to the front of the Eurydice. He just didn’t think it would be that bad…could it?

By the time he had reached the bridge, Kyrenia was already there and frowning at the control panel. The standard radars were showing up completely blank on the screen, almost as if they were shut off. The status reports, however, all lit up green as normal. The guardian looked up. Outside the window was what appeared to be dense fog that surrounded their entire view. The gloomy grey seemed to be creeping in from all sides, its darkness stretching onwards into the unknown.

“Wicked clouds,” he remarked, starting to understand why the intern was so panicked. “…Should we slow down? While I don’t expect anything at our altitude out here, we might ram into something at this rate.”

“Not that we can find any crystals with this visibility as well,” the mirror turned to face him.

“We’ll then be prone to hostile attacks from the sea though.”

“I’d take monsters over a crash any day.” Kyrenia stuck out her tongue. Their cannons were charged, and so were their shields — it shouldn’t be that much of a concern either. “I’ll make you a good seafood boil out of them.”

Llmabros was about to laugh, when the ship suddenly lurched with a loud groan.

????

Kyrenia grabbed onto him instantly, both falling low onto the ground to steady themselves.
