been looking at thorntails (esp hatchling. where is that secondary-- I guess it is great for unfortunate g1 hatches. but I personaly could never buy gem secondary for permababy due to it, as much fitting it could be) and thinking of dusthide (female specificly, I had beef with one where I wanted bee but felt like waste of gems compred to some other projects that need gem gene) and makes me think how interasting would be to have dragon where secondary surface overpowers primary (in xyz scenario, I know some genes such as medusa on veil can do such effect)
cirrus is, I feel quite close to it, and faes (especialy female) a little bit too. I feel I might not even like this concept due to balancing reasons (one of reasons I like scrying cirrus and spirals is because of visual scatter of prim/sec haha) but would be fun anyway as most breeds go with more primary and less secondary coverage

female imperial don't feel like so tbh. we could still get dragon that pushes secondary more

I do agree that they need to do a much better job of balancing primaries/secondaries/tertiaries. It's clear that the dragon designs don't consider the genes at all.
Frankly, I think the solution to having a weak secondary that's below a certain coverage amount is to put the gem secondaries in the regular treasure marketplace for regular treasure prices. They don't deserve to be gem genes if the coverage isn't there. In the case of Thorns, gem primary is ok, but those gem secondaries should be treasure secondaries because they provide low value. I'll pay treasure prices, but you're right - gem prices are extremely inconsiderate for what you get.
(You might consider making a suggestion thread if you have an idea for a different kind of dragon that's mostly wing, or some way to balance the gem prices to be appropriate for the breed.)

I have heard suggestions for a giant manta ray dragon, which sounds very much like this

Aberration H-pose. Makes a great scry if you've got a matching secondary and tertiary, but a bad primary. Especially if you use Kumo or some other tert that covers much of the primary.

ridgebacks are really underrated when it comes to their secondaries imo. they're all wing. butterfly looks like it was made specifically for them
