Friday
Fasci did have a tendency to brag if she was proud of herself, and Aysha liked to gossip, so Dicentra's little mission to help clear the ruins was now common knowledge in the Meristema Clan. Dicentra didn't mind her family knowing, she had just appreciated not being constantly checked up on and to be given the space to make mistakes and learn from them.
Thankfully, it was the end of the week and the family could see Dicentra had managed fine, she was trusted to continue her work and they kept away from the site. She told them she didn't want th to visit until it was all finished - she wanted to see their pride in her completed efforts.
Dicentra had been a little irritable with Fasciatia but it didn't last long, they were too close for bickering and grudges. They'd hatched on the same day and been together ever since - Dicentra knew they couldn't keep a secret, but they weren't mean spirited either.
Besides, today was the most fun - decorating! All the hard labour was done and now they just had to make sure everything looked its best. As Dicentra arranged pretty knick-knacks she had taken from the Meristema hoard, (with permission, of course), Fasciatia gathered pretty rocks and stones.
"Hello Dicentra, I thought you might be able to use these."
Dicentra turned quickly, slightly startled as she hadn't heard anyone approach.
"Oh! Hello Musa."
Although Musa was a member of the Meristema Clan, Dicentra wouldn't say she
knew her, although she seemed like a nice dragon. They just hadn't spent much time together. Yet here she was, with baskets of flowers.
"They're beautiful, thank you."
"My grandmother is one of the gardeners, you know."
"Of course I know!" Dicentra protested, even though she had forgotten Actia was Musa's grandmother. Actia was a serious yet patient and gentle dragon, and Musa's parents were quite the odd couple. Musa herself carried some of their eccentricities from the things they taught her but had her own peculiarities with her strange powers of sight.
Musa stayed to help with the plants, which Dicentra could understand, but then she remained after that too. She always asked what Dicentra thought was best, what her opinion of an arrangement was. It was nice, but Dicentra couldn't understand it. After all this time, Musa had just appeared out of nowhere.
And yet... it didn't feel awkward. It felt as if they
were friends. They could make each other laugh and Musa always seemed to know what to say.
"Hey!" Fasci yelled, poking her head through the window. "Will you stop flirting and help me out here?"
Dicentra squarked and stumbled over her protests, but Fasciatia had already gone back out of sight (after a quickfire wink). Musa giggled and nudged Dicentra playfully.
"Come on then, let's see what your cousins are up to."
