Warnings

SafeDisc DRM does not work on Windows Vista and later (see Availability for affected releases).

Grand Prix 4 is a singleplayer and multiplayer racing and simulation game in the Grand Prix series.

The upcoming digital re-release is renamed to GCR4 (Geoff Crammond Racing 4).

The game has difficulties running on Windows 7 and later.[citation needed] Like its predecessors, Grand Prix 4 has a dedicated modding community, adding cars from numerous seasons up to the current F1 2024 season into the game.

Issues unresolved

Slower gameplay

Grand Prix 4 has a "Processor Occupancy" pop-up that can be triggered by holding O in-game. If this value goes above 100%, the game will appear to slow down.

Issues fixed

Crashing

Sometimes, the game will crash. This is due to using more than one core.

Restrict the game to CPU 0

Running game on modern 64bit Windows OS

Use Windows XP compatibility mode
  1. Right-click GP4.exe, go to Compatibility tab, set compatibility to Windows XP SP3. Apply.

Mods

Much like its predecessors, Grand Prix 4 continues to have a relatively large modding community with a wide variety of mods including new car liveries and new tracks.
Installing carsets and tracks requires the latest Grand Prix 4 update, the Grand Prix 4 Car Set Manager, which is downloadable as part of ZaZ tools here, GPxPatch, and a no-CD patch.
Most mods are available from GrandPrixGames. The F1 season mods are available from Fongu's blog and GP4 downloads.
Antivirus software may detect the ZaZ tools installer as a virus. The installer is safe; whitelist the file.
