INTERVIEWER: There’s a bit in episode 2 that’s stuck in my brain, and it’s post the wraith, where he is really battling with what just happened, and I was wondering if that’s a common theme that he’s trying but the cracks are showing ‘cause everything he’s been through.
JOEY BATEY: I remember that. I asked to change the lines. There were jokes after that in the script as he emerges from the crypt. And I said, 'no, he nearly died, is it okay if I just play that?’ And [Lauren was] like, 'yeah, absolutely.’
Summary: At the start of this set, Petros tells Elizabeth that he’s dizzy, so she gently lays him down. He tries to make her laugh in that fourth GIF by telling she should be a nurse and not a nun.
A few hours later, Petros’s fever gets suddenly worse and he starts to shiver and hallucinate the sounds of someone knocking at the door. He tells Elizabeth to go check, she gets worried and tells him that it’s his fever playing tricks with him, but he insists they’re real.
She tries to coax him by having him drink some water which he barely drinks. He gets frustrated and tries to get up to answer the knocking but is too weak to do so. Elizabeth calms him down by telling him that he’s right, that there are sounds and that they’re going to be saved, which calms him down a bit.
In the GIF before the last, she asks him if he’s cold, which he weakly nods to, so she holds him to her chest to lend him some of her warmth as he shivers and slowly drifts off…
