Haruka would be the best parent out of any senshi, unironically. (Besides Mako ofc)

alevolpe

I got asked on twt to rank the senshi in terms of how good a parent they’d be.

Here’s the very brief explanations for each.

  1. Makoto: Mako’s the best mother and parent, hands down. She’s the only one of the team I see having kids no matter what, she wants to have kids. She already has shown signs of an outstanding and patient nurturer, and she also has amazing skills of a stay at home mother and caretaker.
  2. Haruka: Haruka is very affectionate and loving. She has a gentle nature despite appearances, so I think that translates really well as a parent. She’s not the most skilled at home ec, but she would learn new skills if it meant her child would grow up happier, esp if such skill is not compensated by her partner. She would go above and beyond to make sure her child would grow up loved and with the amazing childhood she herself didn’t have. Also she’s very fun and not too serious or stern.
  3. Artemis: Artemis I think would be an amazing father. He’s a great mix of serious and fun. He takes responsibility very seriously while also not trying to talk down to the person he’s responsible of (him and Mina feel on a very lvl playing field). He’s not afraid to show support or offer encouragement in a simple and direct way.
  4. Luna: Luna is pretty similar, tho what I think would keep her a level below excellent is her high expectations. It’s not something she can really control, but it’s quite rare for Luna to offer any real praise. She holds her children at a quite high standard (the same high standard she keeps herself), so often achievements are almost expected while failures are not so much stepping stones as they are a ‘must not’.
  5. Mamoru: Mamoru is a quite responsible and also gentle and loving man. He can be very fun and he’s also shown being able to take care of himself at a very early age. What keeps him below Artemis I feel is his own self doubts and personal struggles. They would not stop him from ever loving his child or being there for them, but I can see him being unsure of how to tackle situations that a more experienced and mature parent would know how to handle. He still tries his best always, and he (tries) to not get too stuck on past wrongdoings.
  6. Ami: Ami, I feel would be sort of partner dependent. If her partner doesn’t express a desire to have kids, I don’t feel like she would choose to be a mother. She’s afraid of repeating her mother’s mistakes, and she would hate to take in a life she’s not ready to properly provide for. That said, if she does have kids, then I feel like she would be a very good mother, if a bit of a busy one. She’s gentle, understanding, loving, and also very importantly respectful. She wouldn’t have a firmly high standard for her children, she wants them to succeed ofc, but she wouldn’t let the need for high achievement ever get in the way of her children’s happiness.
  7. Michiru: Michiru, I feel, is on a similar playing field as Ami. She’d be quite partner dependent, but I feel like she’d default as a mother more easily than her. The only reason I put her slightly below Ami is her standards. She wouldn’t be suffocating, but Michiru’s constant need for perfection from herself would inevitably bleed slightly on her kids. She would try HARD not to(cause she knows how badly it can fuck with a child’s psyche), but it’d be on an almost subliminal lvl where I feel like her children would feel her disappointment even if she doesn’t physically or verbally express it.
  8. Usagi: Usagi would survive it! lol It’s not that I think she wouldn’t be a decent parent, but I feel like she also has a lot of holes to fill in her parenting style and she really does need the right partner to fill those holes correctly to ensure her kids would grow up properly provided for. She can adapt, but if she has to do too much or try to balance too many things at once, she’d just crash. It wouldn’t be an ugly crash. She’d get back up and try again, but those crashes would ensure her kids would need to learn how to be self-sufficient quite early on.
  9. Rei: Rei, I think, would be an excellent auntie, but that’s it. She wouldn’t choose to be a mother, most likely even if her partner wanted to (depends). If she would then… I don’t think she’d be a good mother, sorry. She would hold her kids on an impossibly high standard because she holds herself to an impossibly high standard. She wouldn’t think it’s bad cause she wants greatness, and she knows her children are capable of greatness, much like she is. She’d fail to realize her selfl-projection would get in the way of her children’s happiness.
  10. Minako: Minako I just don’t see ever entertaining the idea of being a mother or having children. It sounds mean, but she wouldn’t let them drag her down. She’s not cut for it, and she knows it, so she’d rather keep that job for more apt people in society. She’d be a super fun aunt tho!
sailor moon headcanons parents talk also the reason I didnt inlcude Hotaru is cause I tend to default her as achild so it's really difficult for me to put in my mind the idea of her having children srry sort of same thing for Sestuna she's just so tainted by my hcs I can i can't really think of her as a regular human I guess if I rlly had to she'd be between Ami and Michiru usagi tsukino ami mizuno rei hino makoto kino minako aino haruka tenoh michiru kaioh mamoru chiba luna artemis also also yes ik Luna Mamo and Artemis aren't senshi. you got what I meant

Please tell us about Luna (and Artemis)!

Alright!

Luna as I mentioned here was a part of the rebellion group that included Beryl and the 4 kings back in the silver millennium, she was a crucial part of the operation as she was the only one with direct access to the Moon Kingdom and the Queen.

Though let me take it back a second and explain who Luna is. The name Luna isn’t her name per se, but more of a title/position in the royal court that is passed down. The role of a Luna is given to a human woman whose job is to be a caretaker, specifically she’s the caretaker for any reborn senshi.

Say the current Mercury does anything that gets her executed, the new Mercury will be reborn on Earth and it’s Luna’s job to take her from her human parents and raise her til the age where she’s mature enough to be independent.

Additionally, since it happens that a whole life of a Luna can pass by without her even needing to take care of any senshi ( read more on how old the senshis are here, in the comments) she also is entasked with small roles as advisor for the queen and mediator during Earth expeditions, both of these jobs are her responsibility ONLY if it has to do with the senshi.

Our Luna didn’t raise any of the senshi, they are all adults when she is given the title of Luna, despite that Luna still tries to be there for (most of) them like a mother would. She feels for them and understands the terrible situations they’re in. That said she’s not treated well by all of them, really the only ones that treat her nicely and with respect are Mars and Neptune, and in her own way Mercury.

Luna is very passionate, even in her current life, she’s very driven by a sense of justice, while also having a very compassionate heart toward the people she’s supposedly betraying. Though she’s never swayed to think that what she’s doing isn’t right, the people of Earth deserve better and for that, the Moon Kingdom has to fall, even if she knows it means most likely means the death of the senshi and the princess.

She’s eventually discovered and executed, Mars tipping off the Queen to her doings. Mars is a very interesting character in silmil and she’s def the most “lawful good” out them all, but with her future vision, she does what she has to make sure the pieces fall into place for a better future. She knew Luna’s execution was the only opening for such future, so she regrettably did what she had to do. There’s 0 animosity between them, more like a mutual respect and liability. They never talked about such issues openly between each other, but there was always a silent mutual understanding. Mars understood Luna’s actions and Luna’s understood Mars’.

Skipping to the current time, the same Luna that was executed was reincarnated into the body of a cat, my theory is that cats are nimble, low key creatures who are able to fairly easily integrate into society while still not being human and so that’s why the Queen chose such form. She didn’t want Luna to be a human cause she doesn’t need Luna to stick around long, cats live much shorter lives and she only needs Luna to care of the senshi during their ‘transitioning training’ period and then die, having fulfilled her purpose.

All Luna’s memories were erased, only keeping very foggy, but clear goals in her mind. Awaken the senshi, find the princess and stop the evil Dark Kingdom. I like to think Queen Serenity chose this past Luna to reincarnate instead of just getting a fresh new soul because Luna already carried that sort of experienced motherly vibe with her, making it easier the ease the senshi into accepting their new destiny, but also maybe as a sort of taunting punishment. This is your punishment for your betrayal, you’ll unknowingly help defeat the same group you were a part of all those years ago and that empire you tried to destroy, will rise once again, with you knowing no better and dying before even getting to witness it.

As for Artemis, my ideas with him are definitely not as fleshed out. I most often tend to see him as the royal advisor of the Queen, his name also being a title. He really believes the Queen to be a sort of superior being, but he does also have a deeper attachment to her, seeing the more human side to her, which no1 else really gets to see.

He’s a bit more on the cynical side when it comes to the Earth people. Not that he sees them as completely inferior, but he believes people like them need beings like Serenity to mantain peace and order, even if they don’t know better. Humans are inherently selfish and self-destructive, he witnessed it, being a human who grew up on Earth.

He regularly interacted with Venus, being another victim of her manipulations, even if not to the level of Serenity, and holds her to a standard higher than the other senshi, seeing the rest of them as unmotivated and ungrateful of being a part of the court.

Unlike Luna, he retained his memories when he got reincarnated. Lying and withholding information to the true extent of what the senshi, the princess and the kingdom truly entail to the future of the girls and Earth itself, even from Luna.

He believes he’s doing the right thing, that Queen Serenity knew better and that this is how things should be. Though in the back of his mind something doesn’t feel right, he feels hurt and betrayed. Why was he reborn as a cat? He understands why Luna was, but why him, he showed nothing but devotion and loyalty to the Queen. Did he really not mean anything to her or does she really know best and knows that Artemis’ fate is ultimately inconsequential to the rise of the new kingdom?

This conflict within him is a major part of his growth as a character, learning to unwind and truly rethink what being human means through the girls and especially through Mina.

Regarding their relationship, I really do not ship Luna and Artemis. Through the majority of the first arc Luna is left in the dark by him and lead to make decisions that ultimately will cause the girls more harm than good. They are coworkers at best and even after stuff get a lil cleared out, Luna still holds a huge resentment toward him never really gets resolved (in my hc, Luna doesn’t live past the 2nd season, sorry, ik, I love her too).

This is long I know , sorry. LOL, but hopefully it clears some things up and of course all I write int his asks is still a draft, so stuff might change.

ask me stuff silver millennium luna artemis Longest ask by far? … Prob not lol

artemis-is-an-idiot asked:

❤️, 🔻 luna and artemis?

I’ll premise by saying that I don’t really ship Artemis and Luna, despite liking both of them a lot and their bantery relationship, it wouldn’t feel very organic for me to do a jointed hc.

  • Luna ♥ - family headcanon

Unlike the reincarnations of the senshi, I do believe that both Luna and Artemis share a very similar persona as their SilMil selves.

For Luna her devotion to family and duty is one of her strongest attributes. She was chosen early on as a caretaker for many children that were to grow up into soldiers for the Queen and the main ambassador of Serenity. She knew it wasn’t a merciful faith, to be born a senshi that is, so she chose to dedicate her life to giving many of them as good a life as she could possibly offer.

Even after death, the love persisted, although it was not the love for the previous soldiers she cared so much for. No, she never regained any memory of her previous life. It was the love of a dedicated mentor, a friend and a mother.

She’s very much a mother figure for the team she was assigned to, but especially for Usagi, Ami and Rei. Her family and her duty. Swallowing the guilt, she looks on lovingly and admires how far they’ve gone. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • Luna ▼ - childhood headcanon

I think SilMil Luna had a pretty unremarkable childhood. Despite being born in a wealthy and powerful family, she was never blind to the hardships lower class citizens had to endure every day. She’d pass by slums and decaying merchant tables everyday, everyday she witnessed the inequity the Moon Kingdom had caused.

Her first time on the Moon she was left astonished. Even living in one of the wealthiest sections of her region, she never had seen such haunting perfection. No stone out of place beneath her feet, not a section of the road left unlit, not a wandering thought in the guards’ eyes, no dark corner hiding the mistakes of their society.

Despite only humans walking among her, nothing ever felt more estranged from the concept of humanity. Luna never felt more terrified.

  • Artemis ♥ - family headcanon

Luna struggles a lot with separating family and duty. She knows that given her situation, the two must collide at times, but I see Artemis being at peace with the idea that the two can be one and the same.

He retains all his memories from his past life, he’s aware that the people he loves and cares for are here for a reason, a reason beyond being there for him. It’s bigger than him, than any of them.

This is prob my wildest hc and it might change with my narrative moving forward, but for the time being I see Artemis as one of Queen Serenity’s sons.

Unlike Priness Serenity, who I hc as very self-centered and almost uncaring to those she deems will not give her attention, Artemis did love his mother. He was not blind to her faults, but he could truly see the suffering the Crystal was putting on her, a corrupting force slowly fracturing an already broken will. He believed in his mother’s ideals of an utilitarian society, although he knew the approach was a far cry from what it should have been. Serenity wasn’t human. She could never understand they lacked the ability to peacefully maintain such order.

After his death he had a lot to reflect on. He wasn’t angry. He understood that ultimately he was just a tool. He wasn’t meant to live as long as them, but why a cat? Was it a punishment? Left to live only long enough to guide them to the right path, but not long enough to let him witness their future. Luna was a traitor, as so her punishment was clear, but for him it felt even crueler. Left with the memories of what was and the inability to see what will be.

He chose to believe the Crystal had chosen his destiny. That it wasn’t her. That despite what she had become, at least some of her smiles were the token of a mother’s genuine love.

  • Artemis ▼ - childhood headcanon

Gotta admit I haven’t thought much about either Artemis’ or Serenity’s childhood or what type of mother Queen would have been to them, but I know for sure that she didn’t treat them equally.

Not saying one was neglected or tortured or anything like that, but she definitely knew that a man couldn’t be the next in line for the throne, so she couldn’t dedicate the same amount and type of attention to him as she did to Serenity.

He saw his mother as very loving, despite her being rarely if ever openly affectionate, especially as the years went on. He grew ever so hesitant to bother her, all his questions about life left unspoken, his needs and interests always taking backstage when in her presence.

Despite the two emotionally growing more and more distant, as he grew into a bright and diligent young man, he never left his mother’s side. Eventually earning a place as one of her trusted advisors.

P.S. sorry it took me so long to answer this. I genuinely don’t have an excuse.
