IAAI misplaced my wire transfer into another account - their error - and then charged me storage fees while they try to fix the problem. Two days later I am still trying to pay for my vehicle with the funds already sent in. Their local offices are great but their national buyer services department is beyond unhelpful.

Don't place bids

Don't place bids. Lately, the system has been automatically stacking bids. If you place a bid, they'll automatically approach the maximum stack to take all your money. I've been buying on this auction for seven years, but now they've turned into scammers. They also claim the title is clean, but a month after purchase, it becomes a total loss (salvage).

Bought a car from Charlottes Salvage on…

Bought a car from Charlottes Salvage on Synetiq auctions a few years ago. Bidded 3 hours before at £1430 and was the highest bidder at £720 until 10 minutes before the auction started. Then at 10 minutes before auction end, the bidding went up in £10s none stop within 10 seconds all the way up to £1420 and then stopped. Won that car and thought this is too dodgy. I rang Charlottes Motors who claimed they don't have an idea. But it was definitely 1000% an inside job.

Scammers like everyone else

Scammers like everyone else. Broken engines but hidden from you with their trickery. I bid there super low assuming the worst and then it works.

Be careful

Be careful, they sell cars that in the photos uploaded by the auction actually hide their damages, then hide behind the terms and conditions, I bought a car and the photos did not show the damages and the description did not describe anything, I call this a scam

I bought a car from IAA UK in…

I bought a car from IAA UK in [month/year]. The auction listing and VIN data showed the engine code as CUNA (GTD spec, 184PS), but when I collected the vehicle it was fitted with CRBC (150PS).

When I raised this, IAA told me they rely on VIN database information, do not guarantee listings, and offered only to relist the car for £99. I was disappointed as I relied on the listing when bidding, and their terms even state they cannot exclude liability for misrepresentation.

This is simply my experience, but I would advise future buyers to be cautious and carry out their own checks before bidding.

You’re better off going somewhere else…

If I could give this auction zero stars, I would. I do business with all the major auto auctions and this one by far is the worst. The customer service is lacking. Every time I call in to buyer’s services, I have to hold for an hour or more just to get a representative on the phone and my issue may or may not get resolved. In the office, the reps are slow, rude, and provide inconsistent information. I have stood in line at the St. Louis office several times and watched as no one was being serviced, but all the reps were sitting at their desk pretending to be busy. The fees are already higher than most, but in addition to the regular buyer/seller fees, there is a a plethora of additional fees. The high fees would be irrelevant if they actually provided help and good customer service. The “deals” are not really deals by the time you pay all of the additional fees you could’ve purchased a car without a salvage title. Once my account expires, I will not renew unless something changes. All of the employees need to undergo customer service training.

Misrepresented Vehicle Condition

I bought a truck that was advertised to start and drive, but it did neither. I also paid $1300 for delivery through their delivery service. The driver told me the Idaho branch forklifted it onto the truck because it would not start, and then delivery to my house proceeded. An auto shop told me the engine was bad. When I contacted iaai.com and the branch, they said that I agreed to paragraphs 6 and 7, which says no guarantee on the condition. They misrepresented the vehicle and were not helpful in resolving the issue. I feel like I have been scammed.

Have been with IAA for 10yrs + and this is the year of disconnect! As of Feb 17th 2025 there is NO Customer Service phone connect at all! They have made my account "Inactive" for who knows why?? Seems like after the company was acquired by Richie Brothers, it went to hell in a hand basket. As a Licensed Business, I have been treated like a general public buyer!! I am OUT!.
