Canceled My Plan Without Notice, Then Refused to Honor My Price
I've been a Ring customer and trusted their products to protect my home. Recently, my plan was canceled due to a credit card payment issue — and I was never notified. Not a text, not a push notification through the app, not a phone call. Nothing.
When I contacted Ring, they claimed they had emailed me 10 times. I never received a single one of those emails. No spam folder, no promotions tab — nothing. Whether it was a glitch on their end or emails that were never actually sent, the result is the same: I had no idea my plan was canceled, and my home was left unmonitored without my knowledge.
To make matters worse, Ring is now refusing to honor the price on my original invoice. So not only did they fail to properly notify me, but they're punishing me for their own communication failure by charging me more to get back the service I already had.
But the real kicker was the customer service experience. When I called to resolve this, the representative was shockingly condescending. At one point, they actually said to me, "You need to listen to me." I'm sorry — I'm the customer. I'm calling because YOUR system failed to notify me, and you're talking down to me? That is not how you treat someone who's been paying you to protect their home.
Ring had every means to notify me — app notifications, text messages, phone calls — yet apparently relied solely on emails that never arrived. That's a system failure, not a customer failure. And instead of making it right, they doubled down and treated me like the problem.
I'm now actively looking at competitors like SimpliSafe and Cove, both of which offer professional monitoring without contracts and without this kind of treatment. Ring has lost a customer — not because of a credit card hiccup, but because of how they handled it.
Do better, Ring.

My neighbor Mrs Linda has a ring doorbell camera and it can capture video and audio and motion detect and I feel like she's spying on me when I move or talk and it's an invasion of privacy and who invent ring doorbell should be fired because it's horrible like what's the point of having a ring doorbell camera if it meant to spy on people and invade their privacy like my neighbor Mrs linda and move objects and spy on people who move talk and record audio.

Terrible ai support. Took forever to get a real person. Cancelled my subscription and ordered a blink doorbell.
Will not spend one more cent on Ring
We have many Ring cameras and doorbells and have been paying their subscription fee for years. All this despite the company constantly discontinuing devices, bricking our perfectly functional devices with firmware updates and then not even replacing the device, instead offering only a measly discount. We have already, unwisely, replaced at our own cost two devices they bricked with firmware updates (working fine one moment, dead after update).
The most recent device to be sabotaged by Ring is our Doorbell Pro 2, which we bought brand new only 2 years ago, and is the most expensive Ring device we own. After a recent firmware update the doorbell suddenly started to act up and disconnect from Wifi for up to 24 hours at a time. For a Ring device this means zero functionality, no monitoring. Ring claimed it was an unknown issue that would certainly repeat, but this time, they said they would send a replacement. According to ring, however, our specific Doorbell Pro version has been "discontinued". Note that they do still sell a Doorbell Pro.
Instead of sending us the newest version of the Pro doorbell, they sent a lower level device as a replacement insisting it was "better". It is not, and it lacks features available for the current and "discontinued" Pro models. Ring insists the new version Pro is a "different" model, which happens to still retail for $249 - the exact price we paid only two years ago for the now discontinued version. The product they sent retails for less, is inferior to our old camera in many ways, and is bigger, bulkier, and requires drilling entirely new mounting holes. We have a brick home. That Ring doesn't make their products with universal mounts is insane, but that's the least of the issues.
After spending money on devices, which are not cheap, and paying a costly yearly subscription fee (which Ring claims offers device protection), Ring knowingly breaks their own devices. They then arbitrarily decide that the device you once owned is a 'different product' than their newest line of the SAME NAME, so they don't have to replace the expensive device they broke with a comparable product. Ring is deceiving and taking advantage of consumers. They do not value customers, regardless of how long you've been hemorrhaging money into their pockets, and to top it all off, they might share your recordings with various law enforcement agencies without your permission.
A horrible experience
A horrible experience. When the device works (in my case a Ring doorbell camera) it works very well.
HOWEVER, the customer support is beyond the point of being a joke. I've been out of town for a long time, the camera has run out of juice (run it off of the battery) so I charged it up and put it in.
No problem there, it turns on and lights up. But I couldn't get back into my account. I had forgotten my password. I reset it no issues, but when I go to log in it wants me to verify using a phone number.
I no longer have that number ever since I got a work phone over a year ago. So I'm stuck back at the first stage again.
I tried getting to their support, I'm met by an inept AI chat bot that offers solutions requiring more details then says "I can't help you with that". Like what?
So I go into the app and find numbers to call. I call the U.S. number first, "We're sorry, the number you're calling is no longer in use". What?!
So in a long shot, I try calling the number based in the U.K. (I'm desperate for help). But all that happens there is it rings once, then disconnects!
I'm paying long distance fees in an attempt to get some help.
I'm within an inch of ripping it off the wall and literally chucking it down the street. I will never buy another Ring product. There are others in the market that will pick up the slack.
Please do yourself a favor and shop around. Even if the device works, you will at one point or another have to contact support. Support that isn't there.
I even tried to get on the Ring forums, but logging in I need a one time code sent to my old phone number! UGH!

Ring doorbell is awful company and doesn’t take accountability for their flawed system. There’s been no security breach and Wi-Fi breaches to the point a transmitter was used on my doorbell when my car was stolen. I called their customer service to see if they can assist me however it’s AI. It literally took me 30 minutes to get an actual person on the line by choosing an option that wasn’t even customer support. Once I finally talk to an individual, there is a language barrier from the customer service rep and she wasn’t helpful. I kept on saying I wanted to talk to someone higher up to assist me with my matter and she continued to have laugh in the background and ignore my questions anytime I would ask about talking to a senior representative or someone from corporate she would get silent for 30 seconds and I had to repeatedly ask her. “Are you there?” I’m completely switching over to blink. I literally got the ring doorbell to feel safe for situations of theft and my car literally got stolen in front of my house on their behalf. The customer service rep had no remorse didn’t even apologize. I’m so disappointed.
Service is garbage, scammers
Service is garbage. Most my cameras don't work most the time. They automatically sign me up for services I never agreed to every year. If you don't catch it immediately, you pay for the services you never wanted. Would never go with this company again.

Can’t install a security camera on a ceiling!
Mind blowing oversight to the software! WHY can’t you invert the video? It’s not hard, you should be able to do it in the App! It’s not possible to always install the security camera in a upright position, sometimes it makes far more sense to install upside down from a ceiling, after all it is for security, why not install it up and out of the way? Come on, it’s not hard to implement a software change to do this!

BUITEN CAMERA NIET GESCHIKT VOOR BUITEN
Ik ben een trouwe en tot nu toe tevreden Ring gebruiker.
Nu heb ik mijn systeem verder uitgebreid met 2 buiten camera’s. Helaas valt de eerste nu uit en is na meerdere pogingen niet meer werkend te krijgen. In het telefonisch contact met Ring blijkt dat deze BUITEN CAMERA NIET GESCHIKT OM BUITEN op te hangen.
Mijn voorstel om de camera om te wisselen voor een exemplaar die wel weerbestendig is vindt geen gehoor.

Does not work in cold weather Doorbell starts ringing none stop in the middle of the night when the temperature drops. Ring refuses to refund/replace doorbell. Call not returned from manager.
Ring sells out customers to the government
Ring has signed an agreement with flock to share our personal video data with ICE and other organizations to use our own information against us.
We have about 15 ring cameras on our property and I’m currently searching for replacement cameras. Don’t waste your money on a company that will sell you out.

Ich nutze insgesamt 3 Ring-Kameras:
• 2× Ring Innenkamera (Indoor Camera 2. Gen.)
• 1× Stick Up Cam (Akku)
Probleme mit den Innenkameras:
Beide Innenkameras gehen ständig offline, obwohl die WLAN-Signalstärke mehr als ausreichend ist. Eine erneute Verbindung ist oft nicht möglich, da die App fälschlicherweise ein falsches WLAN-Passwort meldet – obwohl dieses korrekt ist.
Wenn die Kameras sich doch wieder verbinden lassen, sind sie spätestens nach 1–2 Tagen erneut offline. Das macht sie für den Sicherheitszweck praktisch unbrauchbar.
Probleme mit der Stick Up Cam (Akku):
Die Bewegungsbenachrichtigungen sind deaktiviert, trotzdem hält der Akku keine 4 Tage. Das ist deutlich schlechter als erwartet und im Alltag sehr unpraktisch.
Fazit:
Insgesamt eine große Enttäuschung. Die Kameras sind extrem unzuverlässig und erfüllen ihren eigentlichen Zweck – Sicherheit – nicht einmal ansatzweise. Ständige Offline-Probleme, fehlerhafte WLAN-Meldungen und eine katastrophale Akkulaufzeit machen das System im Alltag praktisch unbrauchbar. Für den Preis absolut nicht akzeptabel. Ich würde dieses Produkt nicht noch einmal kaufen und keinesfalls weiterempfehlen.
Support Katastrophe
Support ist eine Katastrophe. Warteschleife bis zum abwinken. Telefonnummer hinterlassen, um dann von Ring angerufen zu werden. Kein Anruf, alles nur Marketing.
Und Ring gibt wohl Videoaufnahmen an ICE weiter? Spinnen die eigentlich? Ich kaufe mir jetzt was Richtiges...und drücke den Ring-Kram in die Tonne
Poor Piss Customer Service and Stupid AI system
Called to see what's going on with the app it is not allowing me to make an payment...I've been transferred and transferred by the stupid AI app that they use....starting to be trash I will start looking else where because this is terrible customer service at this point.
