Aprylic supplement

The company I have no issue with. This review is for one of their products, Aprylic, which is basically MCT oil for dogs and cats designed to improve brain health in particular. I have been in regular contact with the UK company and they have been most helpful, this is about the product only.

I started giving it to my dog when he was diagnosed with dementia. Initially the turnaround was marvellous, I couldn't praise the product highly enough. In fact I was so impressed I got a human version for myself. I was severely unwell with ketoacidosis from the first dose and it took me about 4 weeks to get well again, particularly with gut issues.

My dog however, seemed fine until some 6 weeks in when he started to develop quite severe tummy trouble. Upset tummy constantly passing streams of mucus.

I didn't initially associate this with Aprylic and started eliminating other things on a turnaround basis, but he didn't improve. I therefore stopped Aprylic and within a couple of days his tummy was fine. After several days however, he started getting anxious again so I reintroduced Aprylic. Again within a day or so, although his mood was better, his tummy was upset again.

The vet could find no alternative explanation so I tried this stop start routine a couple more times, with the same result so I am now certain it was the Aprylic.

Such a shame as it did work really well on his mood, just not his tummy, so if you are minded to try it, go ahead as I'm sure not all animals will have the same reaction. But monitor closely and be mindful if any problems occur.
