One of the worst customer service…

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. KES Lighting sent me a duplicate order due to their own mistake. I contacted them immediately to report it, expecting a simple and reasonable resolution.
Instead, I was met with aggressive and unreasonable demands to pay the full price within a week for an order I never placed and did not authorize. Despite clearly explaining that this was their error, customer service was rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to take responsibility.
Rather than fixing their mistake, KES Lighting attempted to pressure me into paying for it. This is not how a legitimate, customer-focused business operates.
Be warned: if KES Lighting makes an error, they may try to shift the cost onto you instead of owning it. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Unhelpful! Money grabbing.. read the fine print

Damaged wall light

Ordered wall lights and centre light. Initially only wall lights received but order status said both had been delivered. This was quickly rectified however one of the wall lights were damaged. I have provided photos via customer service email on the 17/12/25 and have since requested a response but have not yet had one.

Not customer Friendly

I would be very careful when buying from this company as they don't like to give refunds.
Check their terms and conditions as they only want to give you a credit note if your don't like the goods that have been sent. I'm now having to make a claim via Paypal/credit card to get my monies back even though i returned the goods by hand in perfect condition.

I strongly advise against buying from…

I strongly advise against buying from this company. Their customer service is not only unhelpful but shockingly rude. When I received a defective item and reached out for support, I was met with dismissive and disrespectful responses and many messages were simply ignored.
They hold your money, refuse to take responsibility, and even make customers pay the full return shipping cost. After checking more reviews, I realized this has happened to many people.
They knowingly send out poor-quality products and treat customers terribly.
This has been one of the rudest and most disappointing customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

You mention checking more reviews and finding similar experiences. We'd respectfully point out that we also have thousands of 5-star reviews from satisfied customers who've had excellent experiences with both our products and service. We're sorry you weren't one of them.

However, we need to address your claim that we "knowingly send out poor-quality products" - this is absolutely untrue and has zero foundation in fact. We would never do this. It sounds like you've been unlucky with a defective item, which does happen occasionally across any business, but that doesn't mean we deliberately send out faulty goods. That suggestion is completely unfounded.

Again, we're sorry you felt ignored or treated badly. That's not the experience we want anyone to have.

To day KES lighting had a County Court…

To day KES lighting had a County Court Judgement applied against them due to the fact they don’t recognise the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Please be aware if you purchase from this company your rights are that you can return with in 30 days and you are NOT required as the consumer to inform them within 48 hours of delivery. This does not apply on a business to business basis.

Let's provide some context that you've conveniently omitted from your review.

First and foremost - we absolutely recognise the Consumer Rights Act 2015. To suggest otherwise is demonstrably false.

Your claim that we require customers to inform us of their intent to return within 48 hours is also complete nonsense. That appears nowhere in our Terms & Conditions. You've either invented this or fundamentally misunderstood our damage reporting policy, which is an entirely separate matter.

You didn't request a return. You reported damage to one chandelier 20 days after delivery - after it had been stored on a building site. You refused a straightforward replacement part that would have resolved the issue in minutes, and turned down a goodwill cash offer during mediation.

The reason you refused these solutions? You'd already purchased a replacement chandelier elsewhere before the case even concluded. You had no interest in resolution - you wanted to pursue a claim for money you'd already spent.

What you've also failed to mention is that you attempted to claim for a second, perfectly undamaged chandelier during proceedings. The judge scolded you for this. Hardly the behaviour of someone on the moral high ground, is it?

You've also refused to provide the invoice for your replacement chandelier, despite us requesting it multiple times. If you paid what you claimed, why wouldn't you simply provide it? Your reluctance invites obvious conclusions.

Yes, you won your case. But framing this as us refusing consumer rights when you never actually requested a return is disingenuous. You've chosen to share only the parts of the story that suit your narrative.

Most people would take their win and move on with their lives. The fact you're still here posting reviews says everything.

Beautiful light fitting, great customer service

Beautiful light fitting, I was really impressed. It looks stunning in my bedroom, I'm really pleased I chose to buy from this company. The light fitting looks expensive although it was far from it, the cheapest I found online. Customer service is very responsive. A couple of the glass tubes broke whilst fitting, at no fault of there's. Replacements were sent without any issues.

Bought two lights which arrived in perfectly packed box. We saved it stored safely away for the electrician to mount them. When the electrician came we found out both of the lights were completely shattered. Customer service is refusing to replace them or give a refund as we notice the issue after the 7 days period that they strategically don’t clearly disclose. Now we have to buy another set of expensive lights and cover the cost of another call out to the electrician- absolutely shocking! Don’t use this company, completely unprofessional!

We are sorry you've experienced damaged items, but we need to address several inaccuracies in your review.

Our returns policy is clearly disclosed in multiple places, not "strategically hidden" as you've claimed:

- Highlighted in our Terms & Conditions, which you confirmed you'd read and accepted at checkout
- Sent to you via email with your order confirmation
- In the footer of every page across our website

The policy requires customers to inspect items within 48 hours of delivery specifically because we cannot determine whether damage occurred in transit or during storage - particularly when items are left unopened for an extended period, as in your case.

This isn't a "7 day period" - that's our B2B returns window, which is separate from the damage inspection requirement.

We understand this is frustrating, but the responsibility to check goods on arrival is standard practice across the industry and exists to protect both parties. We've packed your order properly (as you've confirmed), but we cannot accept liability for items that weren't inspected until your electrician arrived, which could have been days or weeks later.

We're not "completely unprofessional" - we're following clearly stated policies that you agreed to at purchase.

You ordered using a business delivery address and a business invoice address. You're now claiming this wasn't a business purchase, which is demonstrably untrue based on the information you provided at checkout.

Business orders are subject to a 7-day returns window, as clearly stated in our Terms & Conditions - the same T&Cs you confirmed you'd read before completing your purchase.

Calling us "scammers" and threatening chargebacks and Trading Standards because you didn't read the policies you agreed to doesn't change these facts. Your credit card company will see that you received the goods you ordered and that we've applied the terms you accepted at purchase.

We're not arrogant - we're simply holding you to the agreement you made. If you're frustrated, that's understandable, but directing that frustration at us with false accusations isn't acceptable.

Our policies are transparent, fair, and clearly communicated. We'd appreciate you removing the defamatory language from your review.

Edit - No AI here Natalie, just the the facts. You ordered the items to a business address and also used a business address as the invoice address. Or did someone else magically type in those addresses when you were filling out the details at the checkout?

No one is pulling a scam on you, you're just upset that you cannot return goods as it falls outside of the T&Cs so you're resorting to the classic tactic of shouting 'scam' - always the last refuge of someone who's pulled all of the other levers and still hasn't been able get their own way.

We've been in business for 40 years. Would that have been possible if we were 'pulling a scam?' We have absolutely zero interest in trying to defraud people of refunds - thousands of pounds a week are sent back to customers (the ones who actually act within the parameters of the T&Cs.)

As regards 'see other negative reviews' Yes - we have negative reviews, of course we do. All businesses do. We deal with hundreds of orders a week - sometimes we get things wrong, sometimes our Customer Service could sharper, sometimes suppliers or couriers let us down.

There are a myriad of things to deal with when running a retail business and unfortunately there are occasions where people could have a better experience. When that does happen we try our best to fix it.

You haven't referenced the 1,618 people that have given us a 5 star review have you though? Because it doesn't fit your libellous narrative. You not being able to get a refund for not paying attention to T&Cs and the fact that not all of our reviews our 5 stars (same as every other business in the UK) does not equate to us being a 'scam company'

After chasing multiple times, I was told I’d have to wait another 5 days, still with no guarantee of delivery. Due to this negligence, I had to pay extra costs to my electrician and even suffered a week’s delay in opening my restaurant — a huge setback.

The staff showed a “don’t care” attitude with absolutely no problem-solving. Honestly, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had, and I would strongly advise others to avoid KES Lighting & Home.

I bought a beautiful light fitting on…

I bought a beautiful light fitting on the 1st August, I lost my dad on the 9th August so delayed the electrician, he came yesterday and he said it’s going to be too long even with adjustments, I rang KES who asked me to email, I got a reply saying I’m unable to return passed 30 days! So I emailed back asking if I could swap for an alternative NO RESPONSE, so disappointed, this light fitting was £300!

However, our 30-day returns policy applies to all customers and is clearly stated at the point of purchase. While we sympathise with your situation, we cannot make exceptions to this policy, as it would be unfair to other customers and unsustainable for our business.

Regarding the swap request - we apologise if you haven't received a response. Unfortunately, the same 30-day window applies to exchanges as well as returns, so we're unable to accommodate a swap at this stage.

We understand this isn't the outcome you were hoping for, but the policy is in place to protect both parties and ensure fairness across all orders.
