There are things Amalia is distantly aware of. A gap in memory starting somewhere in the middle of their breakfast meeting. The presence in the back of her mind. The fear that both is and isn’t hers.
She knows Faustus on a second level right now. A layered image of him. The version she’s always known, and something else that feels familiar. When the presence insists she keep him safe, she doesn’t disagree. Faustus is a close friend, after all. And only two of them are making it out of this.
