Bad experience with the Rolex watches and the seller

We purchased two Rolex watches from Bachendorf’s Jewelers in the Galleria Mall less than five years ago, and both recently began running several seconds slow per day while still under warranty. When we brought them back to the store for service, the sales associate treated us as though the watches were fake or stolen, was very rude, and immediately blamed us by suggesting we were not winding them correctly, not wearing them enough, or had possibly dropped them. After about 45 minutes of paperwork, she finally accepted the watches and told us they should be ready around February or March, which is an acceptable turnaround time, but her attitude and the way she spoke to us left a very negative impression of both Rolex and Bachendorf’s.

A Rolex Watch That Literally Fell Off My Wrist

Rolex has questionable quality. My 2024 Rolex Daytona doesn't keep good time and last night it suffered a bracelet failure and literally fell off my wrist without any warning. A Rolex watch is marketed as a lifelong, reliable companion, yet the bracelet failed unexpectedly and without misuse.

For a brand built on engineering excellence and durability, this is unacceptable. The inconvenience, the real risk of losing the watch, and the lack of basic robustness and proper time keeping are not what I expected from Rolex.

Rolex: A Brand That Lost Me

After nearly four years of waiting with two different authorised dealers in West Yorkshire, I’ve finally given up on Rolex.

We’re often told that a Rolex is a watch that will last a lifetime. For me, it’s taken almost a lifetime just to be in a position to afford one — I’m nearly 50 — and yet I still couldn’t buy one. Not because I wasn’t serious, not because I couldn’t pay, but because the opportunity simply never came.

What makes this harder to accept is seeing others acquire multiple Rolex watches, only to sell them on quickly for profit. Meanwhile, genuine customers who want to buy one watch to own, wear, and enjoy are left waiting indefinitely. It’s difficult not to feel that Rolex prefers dealing with established collectors — people who already have several Rolexes sitting in a drawer — rather than first-time buyers or those without a purchasing history.

That approach has completely drained my enthusiasm for the brand. I no longer see Rolex as the benchmark or “go-to” watchmaker it’s often portrayed to be. The experience has been a huge disappointment.

In contrast, my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.5 has served me flawlessly for many years. It’s a watch I was able to buy, enjoy, and rely on without games or empty promises. I can’t fault it in any way and would highly recommend Omega to anyone who values great engineering and being treated like a customer rather than an inconvenience.

Rolex didn’t just lose a sale — they lost my interest.

Unbelievable Rolex think they are so special that they can dictate when and where you can purchase a watch
I asked Goldsmiths if they had a certain watch in stock which required a yes or no answer. Instead I got a load of drivel and told they couldn't answer my question without me going to one of their stores
Definitely won't be wasting my time as my local dealer much more realistic and helpful

I’ve owned a Rolex Oyster Perpetual…

I’ve owned a Rolex Oyster Perpetual since 2015 and have owned two other Rolex watches in my lifetime. I found out about the waitlist when I attempted to purchase a Rolex for my wife a couple of years ago. It’s a nice watch, but not any nicer than the Omega watches I own and you don’t have to go through this stupid waitlist selection process to get one. I don’t know whose brainchild this was but they’ve ruined the company’s reputation and entire experience. Get real Rolex and fix this idiotic marketing before it’s too late. You’ve certainly lost me as a former loyal customer.

Penso che Tolex stia vivendo i suoi anni di gloria, gli anni passano e con il tempo anche le mode, in questi ultimi anni si vedono al polso molti orologi con tanta tecnologia, c'è la possibilità che in futuro il marchio possa perdere il pregio, molti giovani preferiscono avere un pc al polso che un semplice segna ore. I rivenditori sono maleducati, i ricambi sembrano introvabili. Lavoro nel settore dentale, una delle più famose ditte svizzere di mictomeccanica... forse la migliore oggi è praticamente sparita dal mercato, anche loro erano maleducati, ricorda Rolex... tutti sono necessari nessuno è indispensabile. Dico solo che la ruota gira per tutti....

I bought a lemon

I had a service of my Rolex watch with Rolex Service Melbourne in 2022. This cost me $1080.00. Believe it or not the watch was returned to them at least 10 times because it stopped every few days. The stock, arrogant answer is that the watch was tested on their testing device and found to be working to the expected standard. In desperation I complained to NSW Fair trading but Rolex maintained it's position. I can't even sell the watch because it would be dishonest and unfair to the buyer. Please help! What can I do? Lors de la révision de mon Oyster Perpetual, j’ai constaté que les cornes avaient été sévèrement abîmées lors d’un polissage. Certes, ils ont tenté de corriger le tir, mais les cornes ont sensiblement rapetissé. Le minimum aurait été de remplacer la boîte. Écoeuré, mon Oyster a fini au fond d’un tiroir. Depuis cet incident, je ne porte plus de montres mécaniques.

Awesome watches...

Awesome watches.... the build, the timing, the sound of the watch. The whole analogue engineering of it on th wrist... ........ I hear others' comments who cares if some losers behind the counter want to think they are superior, and this wait list. They were ever so nice in Cheltenham, England . I heard the wait list is about to end anyway...... I just love my Rolex.........Practical and beautiful, elegant and somehow part of me!

Rolex Monaco

Rolex Monaco, terrible impolitesse, des vendeurs tels que Kevin, petit bonhomme incompétent, impoli et hautain, n'ont pas leur place dans des tels magasin.
Dégouté de l'accueil, je recommande Rolex Nice pour leur professionnalisme et merveilleux accueil.

I had an unpleasant experience with Rolex Canada. I have a 1985 model 17013 OysterQuartz Datejust with life time free battery change guarantee. I have changed my battery every 4-5 years at a Rolex service centre with no problem. This year, I brought my watch to Rolex Canada at St. Claire, Toronto, but they accept walk-in as in the past and asked me to send the watch to them through a retail dealer which I did. They send me a quotation asking me to do a complete overhaul, recommended change of hands and crystal at a cost of C$1700. All I want was a change of battery. They didn't do it when I declined their suggestions.. They have already opened up the back of the watch for examination and change of battery would take them another 15 seconds. hey ignored my request for change of battery, which should be free for life-time. Rolex has tarnished their image of excellence as they do not live up to their promise.

Had the most awful experience at the Rolex store in Selfridges. Staff attitude absolutely awful you go in to enquire about a Rolex they come out with the most cliche of lines like you are looking at years, it’s a very sought after, spend history ,etc……!!! So many lies!its Really become a joke now the staff clearly don’t know the clients that come in to the store or they are totally clueless! People are not stupid people know the market and understand. Avoid this store unless you want to be lied to.

Appalling experience at Rolex Lisbon.

Appalling experience at Rolex Lisbon.. walked in my uncle who has an extensive collection of Rolex’s only to be sneered at by 5-6 staff that stood behind the counter whispering to each other at which point we decided to leave.. not a nice experience we may not be in dinner attire due to a day site seeing in Lisbon but we had money to spend… this needs to be addressed!!!
