I dropped my Max Bill watch on a carpet, flat on its hard sapphire crystal domed glass, which gragmanted into tiny pieces. Requested a quote form Junghans, DE, to have it replaced with an authentic original identical sapphire crystal glass. They sent me a quote with a full list other extras, including a full service of the watch and replacement of the strap (not requested). Quote stood at €706!
After much negotiation ( & translation from German into English), apart from the glass, only the second movement dial needed attention. Both glass and the dial were replaced for €373.50 - still considered very expensive. It took six weeks to execute and return the watch. Generally satisfied with the job.

Nice design, but expensive, terrible reliability and aftersales support.

I like the elegance of the watches and the convenience of radio controlled accuracy. But I have experienced a combination of terrible reliability and poor service which is totally innappropriate for the high cost. Timex do better for a fraction of the cost. After one watch, I thought I was unlucky, but all 3 of my Junghans watches have gone wrong multiple times (I'm a slow learner). Never again. I had thought a mega solar would be maintenance free for ever, but the batteries don't last that long and when they need replacing they insist it needs a new movement which is barely cheaper than a whole watch and takes months to get replaced.

Very disappointing product and support, Avoid.

My partner gifted me the limited edition Junghans Max Bill 60 Mega for my 40th birthday in January. Since then, the watch has been returned twice for repairs. Most recently, just days after receiving it back when the crown fell off. Junghans has refused to fix it, claiming it was accidental damage, which I strongly dispute.

I own several other watches, including ones I wear far more regularly in much more "rough and tumble" situations, and I have never experienced this kind of issue. For a watch that cost well over £1,000, this level of fragility is completely unacceptable.

Junghans' handling of the situation has been dismissive and unhelpful. Given the supposed reputation of the brand, this has been a thoroughly disappointing experience. I no longer feel confident wearing the watch at all, given how easily it seems to fail, perhaps their expectation is that this special edition never leaves it's case?

At this point I don’t think I have any other option than to sell it on the secondary market and invest in a brand that stands behind its products. I’ll be actively discouraging others from buying Junghans in the future. A watch at this price point should come with both durability and a brand that takes responsibility. Unfortunately, this offers neither.

Avoid.

Edit. After a follow up from Junghans directly in response to this we're in the exact same situation. A case where I really wish we'd checked the Trust Pilot before purchase. Save your cash and buy from a more reputable brand.

I bought a Max Bill Chronoscope that…

I bought a Max Bill Chronoscope that was one month old from a shop on Chrono24 and when I received it there was a mark on the backside of the watch and the second hand wasn't aligned in the middle. I contacted the shop and they promised to take care of the seconds hand and I didn't even mention the scratch on the backside because it was a worn watch. When I got the watch back, the backside was completely scratched up and this shop didn't take responsibility for it. I reached out to Junghans and a very friendly representative named Cristina sorted everything out for me. I got a new back cover and they aligned the seconds hand. This is far better treatment I've gotten from any Rolex ad in the past.

Cannot synchronise Junghans Solarwerk watch with Junghans app in Sydney Australia. Watch was purchased at Brinckmann & Lange Frankfurt International Airport 3-09-24. They knew we were going back to Australia. Sent three emails to Junghans, received one reply asking for photo of watch back. Sent this to them. No response from my follow up email.

I treasure this watch

I saw the Max Bill Junghans watch in the window of Max Affolter on January 26, 2013, in Zurich. I’ve worn it every day since (I'm writing in 2024).

I ever and always aspire to be more like my watch: Handsome and accurate.

Impossible to communicate with

I have had a Max Bill watch for about 5 years, and I have had the glass repaired twice, since it scraches VERY easily. I now needed it replaced again and wrote to then about replacing it with saphire glass. I have been trying to communicate with them for the past 8 months but they rarely reply to messages or then reply only after 3-4 months. I have sent off my watch to Germany, and it should have been delivered 1.5 months ago, but I still haven't heard anything, so I am quite worried about my watch.

Exhaustive informations

I was looking for informations about a particular pendulum clock of the first half of XX century in my possession. In no time Junghans answered me a long kind exhaustive letter with the link at the appreciable work they did with their online archive.

Customer service was informative.

I own many old Junghans and my experience has been mostly good, I contacted them with unusual questions about some old alarm clocks and they responded in a detailed and friendly way, I beilive that the many negative reviews are mostly because of the shortage generated by the so called "pandemic", I will probably get a brand new watch as soon as I get the money.

Info in ten days

I contacted them through the contact form asking for a manual i hadn’t found online and received the PDF 10 days later. One is never sure to receive an answer through those forms, so maybe 10 days sounds long, but i was delighted.

Great Junghans archives!

I contacted Junghans to identify an old mantle clock of theirs and found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful. Having identified it, they kindly put me in touch with their UK service centre, whom I've now contacted. Great that they have good archives and could identify a 60 year old clock but also they were professional and very helpful to me.
