My money was also stolen
My money was also stolen. This company is engaged in fraudulent activities. After obtaining bank card details, they withdraw money without authorization. No work or services are provided. I strongly warn others to be cautious and not to share any payment information with this company.

I received leads and I reached out to costumer right away with phone call and text message on multiple leads and didn't get any respond. This feels very unusual. I think this job leads are fake.

I would not recommend and only has 9 years looking up the liscense experience-not 31 years. DId not provide any requested credentials, false. address, mutiple false phone numbers, claiming other Andrew Klein license(s) in multiple states which is not this individual. Thumbtack never did any background check of any kind
Ongoing Fake Leads on Our Account
Ongoing Fake Leads on Our Account - Assist Appliance Repair
We’ve been a Thumbtack Pro for years, but since October 2025 to February 2025 the platform has gone downhill badly. Almost every “lead” we’ve received has been fake—nonexistent names, disconnected phone numbers, and no real customers. We’ve reported these leads and requested refunds as instructed, but many were denied without reason. To date, we’ve lost over $1,000+ on fake leads.
What makes it worse is the complete lack of support. We’ve reached out multiple times through phone and email, but Thumbtack employees have been unhelpful and dismissive. As a small business, every dollar matters, and being charged for invalid leads feels like exploitation, not support.
If this continues, we’ll have no choice but to seek legal action. Thumbtack needs to take responsibility, fix the fake lead problem, and stop charging hard-working businesses for invalid requests. Right now, I cannot recommend this platform to any professional.
Thumbtack is a scam
Im legitimately licensed electrical contractor and insured with 23 years of experience. I left thumbtack 3 years ago because their leads were expensive. The fees racked up very quick due to tire kickers, and people that would request for work but never responded to my messages. The refund policy is extremely strict and refunds were rare. When selecting the type of jobs that I'm willing to take, there are not a whole lot of options. It's as if this is intentional. There is a broad range of tasks and electrician will perform but also fine line with items we will not do either like fix a lamp that doesn't work which is ridiculous . We still get charged for customers that reach out with broken lamps or a shade . Customers would reach out to me with bogus requests and I still will get charged for it. These type of jobs are not even meant for licensed electricians. I rejoined January of 2026 thinking the platform may be different. Their leads are more expensive now pushing nearly $100 per lead. More tire kickers, I get requests for items I specifically list in my profile that I do not do but I still get charged for it and refunds are impossible. Aside from the increased cost, the only thing I noticed the platform updated is that they have AI record all phone calls and messages for their benefit, not the contractor. They want to have all the information readily available so that it can assist "THEM" with their refund disputes. They have not done any updates to make it work for the contractor. 4+ contractors are reached out to from each customer making each contractor pay for that lead and many times none of them getting the job.
Thumbtack is a scam. I will not recommend it
I spent $96 on leads and did not…
I spent $96 on leads and did not receive any quality responses. In most cases, clients stopped responding immediately after the lead was accepted. Support explained that charges are for the “opportunity,” not engagement, which means pros are still billed even when there is zero interaction. Unfortunately, this model places all the risk on service providers. This may work for some, but it was not sustainable for my business.
They dont handle their business…
They dont handle their business properly with excessive fees for leads and allowing people to post bad reviews even if they dont even have work done and they never give regunds even if the client cancels the job they are a poorly managed. Site that is not properly managed
Tried for 2 days to use Thumbtack app…
Tried for 2 days to use Thumbtack app it goes fine until it wants to verify my phone number and then it freezes, have tried to use it 20 times, same result
Unauthorized charges for one…
I am repeatedly getting charged for one way transfers- which we do not offer, never have, never will. My preferences have always stated that we need to charge at least 3 hours minimum. When I follow the process to deny the job and request refunds- at least half the time I am denied refunds. This is unethical, unprofessional and illegal. I have spent several thousand dollars per year on legitamite Thumbtack leads since 2019 and deserve this serious issue is rectified immediately by upper management. I will not purchase any more Thumbtack leads until then.
Worst platform ever for pros Boycott
They closed my account over a petty incident that was tooking care of i think it was personal they were racially profiling me thumbtack is ran by racist foreigners if you are a black owned business be real careful using thumbtack they are the worst platform to use Nextdoor and Angi’s and Google Buisinsess is better thumbtack you will be competing with so many other pros I suggest all pros to boycott this platform this platform will clash eventually
Be Mindful
Please be mindful when selecting businesses as a customer. Thumbtack charges each businesses you select a lot of money while encouraging you to select multiple businesses. They basically pay per communication. It’s extremely frustrating for the worker/company because you’re guaranteed to lose a lot of money. Thumbtack hide that truth because that’s how they make money. They’re getting away with thief. Such a shady and disgusting company. Hope they get sue asap
Highly disappointed
Highly disappointed. No refund for a lead sent to me with no phone number, just a name and a random job. Seems like they generate them and they sell them to you for a high price without even giving you info. Seems like fraud to me charging someone for 0 info
Legitimate Business.
I get most of my business from this one service. I will never deal with Yelp, and "Angi" is worthless since it changed hands. HomeGuide is a SCAM. Thumbtack is VERY honest and there is no question about what you will pay for leads.
Expensive and horrible customer service.
Incoherent leads and manipulative legal…
Incoherent leads and manipulative legal stipulations and customer service resolutions.
To avoid
Professional contractors please avoid this platform. The way how they pretend to put you in contact with customer is a scam. As soon as you you create your profile with skills, they will automatically send you so-called "lead" where phone number is hidden, and will charge you for each lead sent. You will be ripped of hundreds of dollar each week for nothing. One should consider a class action against this company.
Handyman who goes by the name of Misha…
Handyman who goes by the name of Misha phone 305 454 3197 advertises $50/hr to draw in possible customers looking for a good deal. Then, he switches to $80/hr claiming he needs a second person, even when the job is clearly a one person job, such as installing a toilet paper holder. Then he says that he actually prices a flat fee by the job, which invariably is way higher than $50, or even $80/hr. For example a job he estimated at 4-6 hours he prices out at $1,000. When I asked how he came up with that price, that his thumbtack profile shows $50/hr his response was that i should "FIND MEXICANS WHO WILL WORK FOR $1 AN HOUR. and that I should not "WASTE HIS TIME WITH EMPTY TALK". The texting then descended into vulgar language I cannot quote verbatim here but something condescending about my private parts. I have always had a good experience with Thumbtack. I just wanted to bring this to the attention of the Thumbtack higher-ups and see if this is the kind of vendor they want representing their fine company.
This company is a scam outfit
This company is a scam outfit. They take your person information on submit unauthorized background checks through chekr then tell you you submitted the background check on your end 14 years after you had an account and you haven't used their services in 14 yrs they submit a background check and lie and say you submitted requests. Their leads when I used them 14 yrs ago were awful. One of the leads I received 14 years ago cost me $10,000 in damages to my property. Do not use their services company is bogus and they are liars
Leads 3 thousand miles away?
I've gotten some good business from them which is why I still use them. But they keep upping their lead rates and they seem to be getting either desperate or greedy so I want to warn people to pay attention. They charged me this week for a lead for a job in Miami and I am in California. When I told them they charged me for a lead 3 thousand miles outside of my targeted preferences they sent me an email saying they couldn't refund it because it matched my preferences. If you use them watch it closely. A lot of times you pay for a lead and the person won't even talk to you and I sometimes wonder of they put fake leads on with the real ones.
