I called ATG tickets this morning to book to watch Burlesque in October. I spoke with Eva who was really helpful, polite and clear.
The whole call took less than 5 minutes and the tickets are sitting happily in my inbox.
Rang to book a show as had a Theatre Token that could not be used online. Call was answered quickly. Matt was very friendly and helpful and the process was smooth and quick. Tickets delivered immediately by email. Very happy with the service I received.
I needed to change the date of the tickets I'd purpose and they were so helpful. Really good experience. Thanks to Eva, Matt and Darren.

Unfortunately we had to request a change of seating due to mobility. I phoned and spoke to Rachel who could not have done anymore to support us at this time. Between Rachel and David from The Palace they have gone above and beyond their role to ensure my family still had the best seats they could offer, on the same day and David actually went and planned the route for my family to use so they could still enjoy their show.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to formally complain about what was, without exaggeration, the worst theatre experience I have ever endured, during today’s performance of Matilda at the Sunderland Empire.
There was no prior warning whatsoever that the audience would consist largely of school trips. The constant noise, persistent distractions, and repeated delays to the performance—both at the start and after the interval—made it almost impossible to enjoy the show. Children were talking, shouting, and making nuisance noises throughout, with no meaningful intervention from staff.
This was made far worse by the complete lack of ushers monitoring the stalls. There were audience members to my right, in front of me, and directly behind me who talked loudly throughout the performance—so loudly that we frequently could not hear the actors on stage. This behaviour went unchecked for the entire show and demonstrated a shocking lack of audience management.
The conditions inside the theatre were also wholly unacceptable. The stifling heat made both of us feel unwell and nauseous, adding significantly to an already miserable experience.
Before the performance even began, we were made to wait outside in the pouring rain for approximately 30 minutes, despite arriving promptly and allowing extra travel time due to adverse weather conditions. Making paying customers stand outside in such weather is plainly cruel and completely unnecessary. I cannot understand why the theatre could not have opened its doors earlier—particularly given the presence of large numbers of school groups.
For comparison, Newcastle Theatre Royal would never have tolerated such behaviour, nor such unbelievable disorganisation and noise. Sunderland Empire’s handling of this performance fell dramatically below acceptable standards.
This visit was meant to be a birthday surprise for my mam’s 60th birthday. Instead, it was utterly ruined and became a deeply upsetting and stressful experience for both of us.
Due to all of the above, I will never attend Sunderland Empire again.
I am requesting a full refund of the cost of our tickets, along with appropriate compensation to acknowledge the distress and disappointment caused by what can only be described as a day of hell. If I am not offered a refund, I will ensure my experience is made public via Trustpilot, social media, and the press.

I called to book tickets using a Theatre Token. Eva was very helpful and the process was quick and easy.
Johnny was a great help in getting me through the painful process of exchanging my tickets, which was impossible online via the website. Thankfully there are occasionally still humans manning phone lines who are able to help. Johnnny transferred everything over to a new date and was pleasant to speak with too. Thank you Johnny 😊
