Extremely overpriced, difficult to cancel, and underdelivers on features
I never write negative reviews, but this has honestly been the worst experience I’ve ever had with any service in my life. I gave Sprout Social every opportunity to work, but the combination of pricing, limitations, and contract practices made this an incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish.
To start, the pricing simply doesn’t match the value. Many competitors now offer similar or better functionality for far less, yet key features in Sprout are locked behind additional paywalls. Basic capabilities often require paying another $100+ per user, and some tools, like influencer discovery, can cost tens of thousands of dollars. At that point, the platform becomes hard to justify.
The sales experience is very different from the customer experience. Before signing, communication is frequent and helpful. After signing, responses slow down significantly, and getting real support becomes difficult.
There are also practical issues with day-to-day use. The upload quality when scheduling posts appears compressed, and posts often look noticeably lower quality compared to other platforms I’ve tested. The suggested workaround is to use the reminder posting feature, but that tool is difficult to navigate, hides posts if notifications are missed, and does not carry over information properly. Location tagging has also been unreliable, while working normally on other scheduling tools.
Sprout’s recent marketing heavily emphasizes AI, but the actual implementation feels very basic and doesn’t meaningfully improve workflows or results. It feels more like a buzzword than a real capability.
The most frustrating part of this experience has been their cancellation and renewal practices. The platform renews contracts with little visibility or transparency, and despite being told notifications were sent, I was never able to locate any clear notice or confirmation. I was told I was responsible for paying a full renewal cost for a service I had not even received yet, and that there was nothing I could do. To make matters worse, I was originally told by my sales representative that after the first year, the account would move to a month-to-month arrangement. That did not happen, and I was instead renewed into another annual term, which was never my understanding when I agreed to sign. Being locked into a renewal under those circumstances feels unreasonable, especially when no service for the new term has been received. Communication largely stopped despite multiple follow-ups, which made the situation even more frustrating. After researching, I found many other customers reporting similar experiences, including nonprofits and small organizations.
I’m sharing this review so others can make an informed decision, because I cannot recommend this platform to anyone. I regularly speak with other business owners and on industry panels, and I will be openly sharing this experience there as well. Many of the companies in my network operate on contracts far larger than mine, and I will be strongly advising them to consider alternatives based on what I’ve experienced.

They are the nicest people during the sales process, and the saddest and most desperate the moment you tell them you want to cancel.
They claim, and I quote, "we are committed to our customers, employees, community, and investors." - They way they act, they are clearly committed to their investors more than anything - we were able to handle ourselves but it shameful to see how they treat small businesses and how they rip them off.
Here's my 1 advice: never sign a contract with a yearly payment. Always monthly, and cancel your card once you are done with their garbage.

If you fail to give exactly 30 days’ notice, this company will not offer a prorated cancellation or any reasonable accommodation. I canceled through their own app within the window, but because I didn’t retain a receipt from their system, they are now attempting to charge me for an entire additional year.
To be clear: I followed up by email days later explicitly stating that I did not want to renew and wanted to ensure the contract was canceled. That communication was ignored in spirit if not in writing.
The customer service experience has been abysmal. Rigid policy enforcement is being used as a substitute for actual customer care, with zero effort to resolve the issue fairly or acknowledge clear intent. There is nothing customer-centric about this process, only a reliance on technicalities to extract payment.
For a software company that positions itself as a partner to modern businesses, this approach is short-sighted and deeply disappointing. Situations like this are exactly where companies prove whether they value long-term relationships or short-term revenue grabs.
I would strongly caution others to understand exactly what they are signing up for and how difficult this company makes it to exit, even when you act in good faith.

While the product itself is good
While the product itself is good, I strongly advise against signing up. I made the mistake of trusting a fast-talking sales representative who told me I could cancel at any time. To secure a specific rate, he signed me up for a 24-month contract but assured me this was merely a formality for their accounting purposes.
Later, I realized Sprout Social offered far more features than I needed for my small business, and I sought a more affordable solution. Believing Sprout Social was a world-class company, I attempted to cancel, only to be told that I was locked in and owed them for another 18 months. Their approach was essentially "too bad for you."
So, I'm warning you: while it's a good product, be certain about what features you'll actually use. It was overkill for my business, and I no longer trust the company. If you look at my review history, you'll see I've only ever given 5-star ratings until now. In my opinion, a good company makes it easy to join and easy to leave, encouraging customers to return willingly.
P.S. My plan included no front-end support, so Sprout Social incurred no onboarding costs when they signed me up.
Dishonest service, pricing and cancellation policies
We've been using SS since 2020 at a public office. Since then, the price has risen dramatically without any service improvement. This tool's become outdated. There are some cleaner, reliable and, above all, cheaper alternatives.
The time has come to cancel our subscription but it's been absolutely impossible. Their Customer Service is non-existent. They expect us to pay an aditional year subscription, which is simply not going to happen. Who can guarantee that you won't spend 3 months attempting to cancel without any success next year again?
Our recomendation: stay away if you're not a client, run away if you are... but if they don't let you flee, just cut it off. Don't feed a dishonest company like this.

Stay away unless you want a subscription you can't cancel
Echoing everyone else, Sprout is extremely difficult to cancel and makes you jump through so many hoops, there is no button to simply cancel, etc. We notified over a month in advance, and they took forever to respond, and finally told us that we couldn't get out of a contract that a prior employee had signed that we were unaware of. Despite our tight budget, team turnover, and good faith attempt to notify them, Sprout threatened to send us to collections if we didn't pay for the next full year. Writing this review in hope that other businesses don't fall into the same trap, and waiting for the federal government to regulate subscription services that don't provide an online cancellation option!

Typical SaaS Scum
There is no simple way to cancel a subscription. Clicking on "deactivate now" does nothing (which you would think goes against the FTC Negative Option Rule, but I guess they don't care). They do not let you cancel even if you request to cancel prior to the renewal date. Their communication is great when they are doing their high pressure sales, but customer support is non existent. When they do reply, it is clearly just a copy and paste script with no real help.
If you are a small non profit with a tight budget, do not use this service. Other than it being insanely overpriced compared to other products on the market, they will make it impossible to cancel your subscription and are not willing to work with you and your circumstances.
It has been nearly a month and we are still waiting to speak with a real person to sort this situation out.

Disappointed
My team was unable to cancel the service before or after the renewal date despite multiple attempts. Very disheartened to see this platform push auto-renewals on teams, especially small ones with budgets that matter.

Estaba probando la aplicación comparando con otros competidores y la verdad es que es una M13RD4.
A pesar de ser el dueño de la cuenta, simplemente no tengo el botón para poder eliminarla. Quizás por una falta de permisos o porque aún está la suscripción de free trial activa.
Si quieres quitar la conexión con tu cuenta de IG simplemente NO puedes si es la única que hay.
La interfaz es confusa y muy poco user friendly.
Los precios son completamente disparatados, NI LOCO pagaría este producto.

Sprout Social's cancellation policy is unreasonably rigid and fails to prioritise customer satisfaction. Despite attempting to cancel, we missed the deadline by just three days and were forced into another full year of payments without any flexibility. This lack of consideration for loyal customers is unacceptable. Businesses should be wary of subscribing, as Sprout Social prioritises strict policies over reasonable accommodations. If you're looking for a platform that values its users and provides better value for money, consider alternatives that offer fairer terms and stronger features.

Missing there are many. Especially adding music to your posts, confusing posting and scheduling also fails very often, overpriced
Sprout offers a 1 month free trial including most features. Sounds good right? Well, when your rep reaches out /she was really nice/, and you decide to sign up, they charge your card immediately and if you ask about the free trial? Well, it’s an “I am sorry, once you sign up for a subscription there is no more trial”. The so called special lower price is $499 if you go with a monthly payment. The platform is good but you need plenty of time to learn it. Scheduling was confusing, you can’t post on Instagram through Sprout to create a reel the way you can on IG. You can’t add music while posting, it has to be edited with Final Cut or similar creating a video and then post it. I lost my card so the second month I did not pay on the date I supposed to because my new card did not arrive on time. I started to receive messages daily, sometimes twice like “if you don’t pay by the end of the month your platform will not allow your team to access features”,.. my plan started in the 12th but o was cut off by the 24th. Plenty if daily warnings etc. so second time I didn’t pay on time to see how “customer service” works. Same thing happened. I ended up cancelling my subscription because there are alternatives. After cancelling I asked for the report on the accounts I used Sprout on but they said: Sorry to inform you but data can be downloaded only while you are a member… so I paid $1000 ISD for two months and having no data available. While the features are good, my overall experience is negative and won’t recommend Sorout as I found alternative options for way less. Make sure you ask about the ful 39 days trial because you will be learning a full 30 days to be able to use the platform efficiently. I do not have time to spend on endless tutorials and constantly reach out to their support team /you will too/. The reps were really nice but the platform does not worth the money.

Sprout Social made managing our social channels easy and efficient. The intuitive interface, reliable scheduling, and accessible dashboards saved our team time while giving us peace of mind (no missed posts!)
Their responsive support and dedicated success team made it one of the better Enterprise platforms I've used to date.
The only area for improvement is, of course, more robust analytics, especially where LinkedIn is concerned.
Other than that, great product and platform!

Not being able to edit a post after…
Not being able to edit a post after submitting it for review is very difficult. Having to make a copy of a post in order to edit it is a waist of time and makes me just give up entirely. This month my company had requested lots of edits and adding this step was near impossible for me so I hardly have any postings for this month. If you can fix to make it more streamlined to be able to edit post easily that would be fantastic
