Victor "Fayde" Zuev (born August 1, 1999) is an American player who is currently playing for GamerLegion.

Biography

[edit]

Dota Pro Circuit

[edit]

Fayde began his career in 2019, playing in various amateur and semi-professional leagues such as NADCL. In 2021, he began his professional career with Team DogChamp in the Dota Pro Circuit, then bouncing between Division I and II with teams such as felt and 5ManMidas. In the final season of the Dota Pro Circuit in 2023, he helped establish felt as a mid-table team in North America, and one of the most consistent offlaners in the region.

Apex Genesis

[edit]

However, with the end of the Dota Pro Circuit, the North American scene shrunk dramatically, and Fayde found his opportunities limited, with the region largely reduced to attempting to qualify for large tournaments, with the near-impossible task of beating the established teams Shopify Rebellion and/or Nouns Esports in the same qualifier. In March 2024, he joined Apex Genesis, a team of, on paper, the strongest talent available in the region outside of these two teams. Fayde was the first target of Apex Genesis' owner, Eagle.[1] After a shaky start and a number of reshuffles, the region firmly established itself as the third strongest team in the region, but still unable to overhaul the top two.

In June 2024, Apex Genesis qualified to Elite League Season 2, a tournament that Shopify Rebellion chose to miss, and Nouns Esports were invited to, opening up an easy qualification route. This was Fayde's first LAN tournament. However, the team performed poorly, finishing joint 12th-14th. They also qualified to PGL Wallachia Season 2 in similar fashion, but finished joint-last.

Qualification to FISSURE PLAYGROUND #1

[edit]

In December 2024, Fayde and Apex Genesis took part in the Americas Qualifiers for FISSURE PLAYGROUND #1, a pan-American qualifier that featured Apex Genesis as the sole North American team, with multiple established teams such as M80 (formerly beastcoast), Team Waska, Hokori and FUSION. Apex Genesis, however, were a cut above the region, including M80, whom they beat in the Upper Bracket Final, and met once again in the Grand Final.

Notably, Apex Genesis deployed an unusual strategy in the Grand Final, where Fayde would play Night Stalker, while laning support Speeed would play Venomancer (with Plague Carrier) but start jungling from the start. To make up for playing 1v2, Night Stalker's Night Reign Facet allowed Fayde to mitigate the impact, whilst allowing Speeed to jungle at remarkable speed, effectively becoming a fourth core. Apex Genesis ran this strategy in games 1 and 2, running over M80, forcing them to ban the strategy in game 3. In game 3, Fayde played an excellent match on Beastmaster, making good use of the map as all three cores suffocated M80 into a convincing win with a 22-3 scoreline. This marked Fayde's and Apex Genesis' first qualification to a Tier 1 tournament.

The roster was signed by the returning Wildcard organization soon after this. At FISSURE PLAYGROUND #1, however, the roster's lack of inexperience was laid bare, with Fayde unable to bring much momentum for his team against the strongest teams. Furthermore, opportunities to gain more experience were limited by Shopify Rebellion's dominance over the region, ensuring that Wildcard could only attend tournaments where Shopify Rebellion were either invited to or opted to skip. Laning became an issue for the Wildcard offlane duo in tournaments such as FISSURE Universe: Episode 4, but Fayde's performances improved markedly in FISSURE Universe: Episode 5 Play-In, where Wildcard secured a credible 5th-6th.

In Esports World Cup 2025: North America Closed Qualifier, they were brought back down to earth with five straight game losses to Shopify Rebellion, failing to qualify for the event. Wildcard bounced back in The International 2025: North America Closed Qualifier, first beating Shopify Rebellion 2-0 in the Upper Bracket Final, Wildcard's first series win over Shopify Rebellion. This was followed-up by a nervy 3-2 win in the Grand Final, with Fayde going deathless on Bristleback, providing the perfect platform for Yamsun to dominate on his Terrorblade. This marked Fayde's first qualification to The International.
