Chronology
The EU LCS 2014 Spring Split was the third split of the European League of Legends Championship Series, organized by Riot Games. The season took place from January 14 to April 17, 2014, with the regular season held in Berlin and the Playoffs hosted in Cologne, Germany. Ten teams competed in a quadruple round-robin Best-of-One format, followed by a Single Elimination Playoff. The top five teams automatically qualified for the Summer Split, while the bottom three were sent to the 2014 Summer Promotion Tournament. The split featured a $100,000 USD prize pool, with the champion also earning a spot at the 2014 All-Star Event.
Before the start of the season, several roster and organizational changes took place. Alliance acquired the EU LCS spot of Evil Geniuses, Millenium took over Team ALTERNATE’s position, and Team ROCCAT took over the position from Kiedyś Miałem Team. Supa Hot Crew joined the league after defeating Meet Your Makers in the Spring Play-In tournament, which was created following the removal of Lemondogs on January 8, 2014, due to their failure to submit satisfactory paperwork. The Play-In, held on January 11, 2014, determined the final participant for the Spring Split.
