Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. They only publish good reviews. We recently took a three night trip to San Blas that was highly rated. In reality there was no communication between travelers, drivers, accommodations, etc. Nothing was as described. Only through the kindness of one captain and a transport driver were we able to get back to Panama City.
Sadly San Blas islands have become a tourist dumping ground.

Welcoming atmosphere
Welcoming atmosphere. Arriving on the drive .valet greeted me with a warm smile ready to serve. Check in was fast . Unsure how to work the lights in the bathroom. I called the front desk . A very bubbly n professional but friendly lady answered her name was Kia she helped my work the hotel fancy light system. Kia also took my breakfast order the next morning. I will for sure tell friends and family where to stay when they visit

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They canceled our reservation last minute so we showed up with no idea we wouldn't have a ride. Then they did not refund the entire amount, so are currently waiting and trying to contact someone for our money back with currently no luck.
As a business owner
As a business owner, I find TripAdvisor to be one of the least reliable platforms when it comes to unbiased reviews. Their review policies appear inconsistently applied, if at all. We have received clearly fake reviews from competitors, and despite providing documented proof, TripAdvisor has refused to remove them.
Even more concerning, we have seen reviews posted by individuals who have never dined at our restaurant, which completely undermines the platform’s credibility. There seems to be no effective verification process, no real moderation, and no protection for businesses against false or malicious content.
Because of these repeated issues, I no longer consider TripAdvisor a trustworthy source for reviews. In contrast, platforms like OpenTable, which verify reviews through actual reservations, are among the few reliable review sources left.

BEWARE!!!! SCAMMM! We booked via TripAdvisor transportation from Nassau AirPort to Atlantis for 1/30/26 @ 5pm. When booking received it had been changed to 2/2/26 @ 5pm. Contacted TripAdvisor customer service and they advised there was no availability on 1/30/26 so they AUTOMATICALLY adjusted the reservation to 2/2/26. I advised that was unacceptable and not what we originally requested. Agent just kept parroting that there are no changes or refunds and refused to get a supervisor. BEWARE!!!
Great for Reviews; Sucks at Booking.
I’m a big fan of TripAdvisor hotel reviews. Unfortunately, I made a hotel reservation on their app. No confirmation e-mail, nothing on my account page, no nothing. Credit card was charged. AI search produced a help telephone number ( nowhere on the app.). 20 minutes, 2 agents ( both offshore), promised to email confirmation. Nada. Finales called the hotel itself and they sent confirmation email. Looks like TripAdvisor just fobs off hotel reservations to other travel apps. Don’t waste your time actually trying to book something on their site.

Staff very rude and aggressive. With threatening behaviour Over charging on services or exchange rates. Not honest.
It’s in the middle of nowhere and will cost you an arm or a leg each time you go down the road to do shopping or night out. Absolutely mind blowing experience or purchasing a nightmare.

Terrible. So uninterested in listening to our issues and problems with some reviews that are dating 10 years back. So completely closing the doors infront of our eyes.
First they gave us tons of work to get a solution on our problem and when I gave them what they wanted they still didn’t even wanna read. So said that this multimillion billion company have stolen the market so completely. Makes me so said that they want to hurt and destroy small businesses.
Nothing fair about Trip advisor
Trip advisor are not a fair mediator of reviews. A vendor is in an impossible situation where a review can be completely fake with a completely fake name but they are under no obligation to prove their claims so the vendor has to put up and shut up. Where is the fairness in that?

Once upon a time, long ago, TripAdvisor was actually useful—a place you could trust to choose a restaurant or a business.
Today? It’s more like a creative writing platform.
Anyone with five minutes, a fake email, and a bad mood can post a “review” about a place they’ve never stepped into. No reservation, no bill, no proof—just imagination and resentment. And voilà: instant critic.
What’s truly impressive is not how unreliable it has become, but that it still exists… and that people still take it seriously.

I've never liked this service, even though I've only ever used it to browse recommendations. But this time I had to make a reservation. It was terrible. The property didn't match the description at all. This is the worst booking service I've ever used. I have no idea how it's so popular
I booked JW Marriotte Hotel Marina…
I booked JW Marriotte Hotel Marina through tripadvisor. Fully paid a week ago and have confirmation number. I fly to Dubai with my wife and I was told, my name can not be found. The Hotel is sold out. Tripadvisor told me to wait for an hour to work with Hotel partner, and came back appologized and ask another hour. What is absurd is they offer me a hotel 30km away. I used to like Tripadvisor, but never again after my horrible experience. Finally canceled as I know they will keep me whole day. Shame!
Fake reviews
Booked a holiday based on TripAdvisor rating and realised 90% of the reviews were fake when we got to the hotel. Disappointed in TripAdvisor lack of ability or desire to ensure reviews are legitimate or use a simple weighting system to put more weight on people who have made multiple reviews.
Not a trusted source for real reviews
Trip advisor let's people that haven't stayed at a property to write reviews. They also let properties who pay them for a service to remove bad reviews. Read the reviews with a grain of salt.

I wrote a very negative review of a tour company that TripAdvisor had recommended. Their bot thanked me for the review but it never appeared. They "whitewash" their reviews! Don't trust a word they say!
Non-existent reservation and lack of information, missed tour and no refund.
Months in advance, I booked a tour from Buenos Aires to Colonia del Sacramento through TripAdvisor, operated by Colonia Express.
We only received a voucher, which clearly stated that it was not the ticket and that the ticket should be collected at the time of boarding. The problem is that, upon arriving at the indicated location and presenting all the information provided by TripAdvisor, there was simply no ticket or reservation linked to our name.
Because of this, we were not allowed to board, completely losing the tour. Our entire travel itinerary was organized around this tour, which ended up being wasted.
It is unclear whether:
• TripAdvisor only sold a "reservation" without generating the tickets, or
• there was a communication failure with Colonia Express.
The fact is that we received absolutely no guidance on how to collect the tickets, where to do so, or who to contact. I have used TripAdvisor before, and normally the guides contact you the day before explaining the entire procedure—which did not happen this time. The voucher we received was useless, and the reservation, in practice, didn't exist.
Furthermore, we were in another country, with communication difficulties, and we were treated hostilely on site. Even in this situation, the refund was denied.
Another serious issue was the time provided:
The voucher stated that the boarding deadline was 8:30 am, with a recommendation to arrive 1 hour earlier. We arrived at 7:40 am, within the indicated time, and were informed that boarding and the boat had already departed. In other words, the information provided was completely inconsistent.
The tour is poorly explained, not intuitive at all, there is no adequate support on site, and in the end, the consumer is left completely helpless. We lost an entire day of travel, in addition to the money paid, for a reservation made months ago that was not honored.
Given all these shortcomings, I request:
• A full refund of the amount paid,
• and a formal explanation of what happened with our reservation.
The minimum expected is respect for the consumer and responsibility in the sale of tourism services.
