just doin some heisterella magic ramblings

i’m starting to understand the magic system of heisterella (note to self: we do need an actual title at some point) and it’s going to be based around duality which works well considering almost all my magic will exist in physical objects that have been enchanted and thus, it’s very common for magic items to be made in pairs. *cough like shoes cough*

before the story begins, a huge accident involving the court magician and the queen leaves the young prince motherless. magic was outlawed in the kingdom as a result with all the enchanted items either smashed by order of the king or illegally smuggled out/secreted away. most of those items were made by the court magician herself who also disappeared in the accident. but unbeknownst to the public, the king kept a very powerful magic item for himself, one he couldn’t yet use. and now he’s had some kind of breakthrough which he plans to announce at a big celebration ball. my fairy godmother character (not actually a fairy or a godmother) wants to steal it before he has the chance to do anything with it, and she’s gathered as many of those remaining magic items that she could to pull the whole thing off.

did cinderella ever talk to her man about his faceblindness

#‘i met the perfect woman but it was a special occasion’#'so now wherever she is her makeup and hair are probably different’#'this is my nightmare’

rip prince charming, who had to let the whole kingdom make jokes about his foot fetish for the rest of his life because every blonde with an updo looks basically the same as far as he can tell

they call him prince charming because he’s always really polite to strangers to cover for the fact that he doesn’t know if he’s supposed to recognize them from somewhere and when you’re a prince that shit starts wars

best part of this post is all the people with prosopagnosia confirming that they literally never questioned why the prince was incapable of hiring a sketch artist even in versions without masks/glamours

Thanks to some awesome attendees from the Cure SMA Walk-n-Roll I finally have some pictures from the event! When I first arrived, Ben J, whom I’ve worked with at a lot of MUCH Foundation events, came to me and told me that a very special little girl heard Cinderella was coming and was very excited to meet her. He told me to look for the little girl dressed as Ariel in all her sparkly princess splendor. So I waited at the finish line and once I saw her I immediately went to her side as she called out for me. She told me her name was Gabriella and she was three years old. I stayed with her for over an hour just chatting about princess things. After she ate, we went for a stroll across the bridge in the park and when her head fell forward, her grandmother reached over and gently moved her head back. Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord… meaning little Gabriella can’t even lift her head or arms on her own. Her wheelchair is specially designed to only require a small amount of pressure on the controls so she can be independently mobile. Just one little touch had her racing down the sidewalk… she playfully chased me back to the pavilion after our stroll as her grandmother ‘ooed’, saying, “Look how Cinderella’s dress swishes when she runs! It’s so beautiful, just like in the movie!“ and Gabriella just smiled and laughed and told me to keep running so she could chase me.

I’ve done a lot of charity work in costume over the last ten years… but none has made as much of an impact as this. If you want to find out more about SMA, you can check out the Cure SMA website, and if you’re in Central Florida and interested in donating, money or time, costumed or not, visit MUCH Foundation’s website.
