I'm not sure this review is real. Your name is not in our customer database or in our email support system. We have no record of you or any communication from you outside this review.

Our program is designed for adults learning guitar. There are other options specially targeted for children. I suggest exploring them.

That said, we have one of the highest ratings in our support service. Our teachers are highly responsive and available. This is one of the reasons our rating here and elsewhere is so high.

Highly Recommend

All the tools are available for you in the form of videos and instructions. Allen and his team are great to work with and provide appropriate feedback (positive or negative) to help you improve your playing skills. 'Open Mike' and 'Question and Answer' sessions are held monthly and are a great help is sharing your personal playing concerns and watching other play. Just by watching others is a great way to learn technique and form for playing classical guitar. I would highly recommend this for anyone trying to learn to play.

I would have been an even better teacher if I found this sooner!

I am a retired music (Orchestra) teacher. If I had encountered Allen decades ago I would have been an even better teacher. The material is extremely well thought out, comprehensive, and interesting. The "practice buddy" option brought me a new friend. The monthly opportunity to play for one another online is great, and a very supportive group. Includes a large database of well edited, graduated pieces to download. This is a truly remarkable resource!

CGS is a treasure mine of actually applicable material. I began the course several months ago and I find it to be very thorough and well structured, unlike other programs I researched which are less so. CGS suits me well, not only because Alan teaches step by step in levels that cover precisely what I need in order to progress, but the real gem is his attention to detail, especially how we interact and use our attention while practicing. I could almost say his is a "from the inside out" approach. I never, ever feel I'm wasting a second of my valuable time.

Structured guidance.

I was an absolute beginner with no expectations other than curiosity. It is a testament to the structure and content of the Woodshed program that I am still interested, practicing, learning and improving 18 months later.

Classical Guitar Shed's Feedback & Review

Classical Guitar Shed's training and online platform is very detailed and seems to cover all aspects of technical guitar ability and a wee bit of music theory. The best thing I've learned from Classical Guitar Shed is the basics. That is how to play Fingerstyle Guitar using the correct posture, arm, wrist, and finger placement. Because I've learned and studied the above the most, I feel quite accomplished that I've learned and implemented correct playing with both the left hand and the right hand.

A great resource

Learn to play the guitar as a beginner or improve your skills as a player in your own time and at your own speed. This is a great resource which I thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to further their skills.

A great way to learn classical guitar.ar

Enrolling in the Classical Guitar Shed has been a great investment. The online course study takes a student from the basics to advanced levels by following videos supplemented by interactions with teachers. I failed trying to teach myself but am advancing with CGS. The covers just about everything a classical guitar student needs to know.

Really very, very good

I've had a look at a couple of online resources for classical guitar and other instruments and I'm extremely impressed with both the approach and content that Allen and team bring with Classical Guitar Shed. I also teach and I've tried to embrace and reflect some of the approach and encouragement that Allen has in his videos to my own teaching. Really, very, very good.

I have been enrolled in the Classicalguitarshed.com program for 15 months. My experience is nothing less than positive. I get out of the program what I put in. If I'm available to practice and work on the skills, I grow quickly. If I can only haphazardly practice, I don't. Allen and staff a quick to answer questions as they arise. Allen's videos are extremely helpful as an aid to improving. I highly recommend for anyone.

A great help and experience... well worth it

Last year (2021) during the height of the Covid Pandemic I purchased a year’s subscription to the Classical Guitar Shed. This decision was based on the YouTube presentations that Allen Mathews posted. My experience with studying and playing classical guitar goes back fifty plus years and I would consider myself at the time I stopped playing an intermediate player.

Due to personal circumstances I was not able to pick up the guitar and play for almost half of those fifty years. Due to nerve damage I had extreme pain and disability in my left neck, shoulder, arm, hand and fingers. Than just a few months prior to joining the “Shed”, the majority of the pain started to dissipate and the sensation of touch started to return to my fingers allowing me to fret notes and chords. I dug out my old guitar from the closet and my old Aaron Shearer books from fifty years ago and slowly started playing simple studies. The books were ok, but, unlike riding a bicycle, returning to playing the classical guitar requires a little more concentration and thought.

I felt I needed more guidance in refreshing my memory in relearning the techniques required to reading sheet music and playing and so I started searching the internet and came across Allen’s methods. I can safely say that his “Shed” study levels and bonus pieces were a tremendous asset in learning. I would highly recommend trying out his courses to help you in learning the intricacies involved with playing the guitar. His staff was also a great help. When you needed tips and insights learning a technique or a study piece they were always fast getting back to you when you had a question.
