Wow, talk about a book that can hit you with every emotion possible. Starr's character was so well written that every time she had to interact with her high school friends I cringed at their responses. This is an incredibly powerful book, not just for its political message but for the internal conflict Starr is struggling with. The story was so much deeper than that initial conflict, it really dug into who Starr is and why she feels guilty even though the reader is screaming at the pages "You have nothing to feel badly about! You did nothing wrong!"
Though I know there are other authors out there with stories like this to tell, it's so great to see this sort of coming of age story receive the commercial success it has.
I wish Angie Thomas nothing but success and good fortune in all her future endeavors.

I agree with your opinion. Because I learned lots of things in Starr and her friends’ talking and also I cringed at their conversation.
I felt a lot of complex emotions that I don’t know how I could feel that.
And I also thinks this book helps us awaken some strange emotions and gives us some political message about the discrimination.
During reading this book, I screamed and cheered Starr up, as you said “You have nothing to feel badly about! You did nothing wrong!”
Oh! i agree with you. In this book, i can feel not only some social issue but also Starr's school life. But i think that the discrimination and her school conflict are related deep. Her main conflct is with her friend, Hailey and she usually says some racism words without considering. It was the biggest fundamental problem, I think. If Hailey thought more, there would not be any conflict in her school. Also I can see conflict in her mind and I think the author descibes her condition very well. I could feel her suffering just by reading it. I want to the author towalk in the street full of happiness. And lastly thank you for your first comment.
Hi! Hello! I love your coment that mentions about the Starr's personality or behaviors. I also thinks Starr is a girl who can be loved by everyone! Of course, she got some complicts and confused about the decisions that she will decide, but finally she overcome all those thing very well. I can say that Starr's growing up (both of phisically, mentally) is one of the point the book gives us enjoyment.
And when it comes to the Starr's school life, I also mentioned about it at my review, we can find many situations of discrimination not only for color of the skin, but also for the nationality like Maya, the Chinese Starr's friend in Williason, has exprienced. Like that, this book makes us think with various perpective. Especially about the social issues. That's also the reason why I like this book.
I'm glad to meet(?) person who has the same thought with mine. Thank u, if you read my response.
