Mega Man X [Note 1] is a singleplayer side view scrolling platform game developed and published by Capcom. It is the first entry in the Mega Man X series.
Originally released on SNES in 1993, the game was ported to DOS by Rozner Labs Software Group and released by Capcom USA on March 10, 1995 in North America. The DOS version was used as the basis for the Windows version, developed by XLsoft and released by GameBank on May 25, 1996 in Japan. CYBERFRONT Corporation later re-released the game at lower price with GameBank's permission.
The Windows version cannot be run on modern Windows OS from Windows Vista onward, even with the compatibility mode setting. The original SNES version was later included in Mega Man X Legacy Collection.
