The blog of a weirdo author and perpetual pissant. He/They, 294 years old, ambiguously gay villain. Call me Kai. I dual wield sci fi and fantasy, but sci fi is my offhand weapon, with my charisma modifier stacked on top.

The way I see it, people generally don't care about anything unless it involves them.

They care about jobs and salaries and taxes, so they care about the government then.

Buuuuut, when it comes to things that don't directly impact them, they might say "oh that's awful" and they talk with one another and chatter about how wrong something is, but when the time comes for action, thye shrug and think that it isn't their business or just stop caring.

there's nothing wrong with being selfish, but why bother telling us you're pro-choice if when you can vote for someone that IS pro-choice and could represent you, you don't get off your ass and do the LEAST you can do and just frigging vote?

I'm pissed. All day I've been calling people about their feelings on the government (it's for a poll).

Do they care about social issues?

No, they care about the economy because it affects them. And even then, they don't care enough about the government to even know who's governor. All they know is that they care about jobs, taxes, and the economy. It doesn't matter if a homophobic, misogynistic, psychopathic conservative is governor UNLESS we or someone we know loses their job or if taxes are raised.

Then suddenly, THEN you get complaints.

From the people that had the choice to have someone different but didn't take advantage.

Nothing is more frustrating than apathy. At least your opponents CARE and are moving things. The common people who agree with you are more frustrating because they agree but they don't care.
