feel like ppl are getting meaner and it's weird to see

how do you mean

bro forget this post for a second - i opened this app today at 9am and the first post i saw was you reblogging some horny shit about “sliding in and stretching her real good”. 9am on a wednesday. what was that all about?
Some of you think of Cops as kind of a symbolic figure representing "telling you what to do" & you're Posting things like "acab includes fandom discourse" and I thuink the 80% white website needs to remember the reason why we hate cops is because they kill people
We hate cops because they're a weapon for enforcing the state's interests through violence. Like, they kill & imprison people. The antis don't have a Quite Literal boot on your neck please god log off or talk to a Black person or something
To be SO fair like really generous there is something to be said for unlearning the habit of figuratively "policing" other people especially in the context of, like, not being a fucking snitch, "kill the cop in your head" etc etc, but can we not completely lose the plot re: what cops Are
slightly furious reminder that fish do in fact feel pain and do in fact experience fear and distress when in pain since people seem to love spreading the myth that fish don't feel pain. what is it with people assuming a creature is incapable of feeling pain or emotion just because it doesn't have complex facial muscles. come on gang
As my main income, I work with fish in a specialty pet store that's privately owned (so I'm allowed to say no and be stern to customers when it's needed).
You learn really quickly that not only do fish have individual personalities and emotions but they also have memories and recognize people! There are certain fish who will only come out for me and hide for everyone else. The pufferfish spits at me because she gets pissy that I haven't fed her. The flowerhorn bites everyone but me and my coworker when we clean his tank. I trained a fire eel to come up and eat directly out of my hand.
Fish are beautiful complex creatures and I thank the universe everyday that I get to work in a place where I'm encouraged to tell animal abusers to fuck right off.
Fantasy worldbuilding concept:
- Magic can be used to repair equipment in a manner akin to the mending cantrip from 5e, but it's considered profane black magic for reasons that surely have nothing to do with the fact that the lead manufacturer of leather armor in the realm is close personal friends with both the witchfinders and the king
The initial plan for this was for this to boost profits since leather can't be repaired in the same way steel armor can (at least not up to the standard of durability the original piece had), facilitating the need to replace armor pieces for much higher prices than repairing them would be
However since then leather armor sales have actually sort of nosedived, since while leather armor was useful for heavy adventuring work in the days of magical repair, it's also tragically frail compared to steel and it's just not really financially viable to replace your armor every few quests.
Since you can no longer magically fix your shit on the fly, You're really much better off with steel nowadays, or just using whatever you find in dungeons
This nosedive in profit has forced leather armor to spike in price for the manufacturers to stay afloat, and the original market for it (adventurers who wanted a cheaper alternative to steel) can no longer afford what was once the "cheaper" option
Nowadays the leather armor industry stays afloat almost entirely by wealthy collectors who prefer the aesthetic or well-off adventurers who place much higher emphasis on their mobility than the average person
Or wide-eyed newcomers to the scene they can sucker in with a fabricated mythologized image of a heroic level one adventurer that's been unfeasable-at-best to achieve for nearly a decade now
Yes some languages like French or Thai or Japanese have nonsensical or weird spelling but you can already read English so you should be used to that by now
Look at Thai. This script is very old. Many of these sounds don’t exist like that anymore. Do not panic. You know how to read knife. You are battle hardened already.
Japanese kanji have many different sound and meaning. Too many. However, you can already deal with things that don’t make sense. You have conquered deer and dear. You have learned to deal with phishing and fishing. You can do this.
French have many silent letters, but so do we. Grab French by the throat. Choke it to death to assert dominance.
okay, I’ll bite. What’s media
media is when one guy is chasing another with a knife but a tv camera zooms in so it looks like the guy with the knife is being attacked by the guy who’s actually running away. that’s media.
Christ that’s fucked up. Is anyone doing anything about this?
villain going to the goon shelter to pick out a new henchman
this energetic and diabolical boy was rescued from a goon hoarding situation… he loves pulling levers, gloating, and turning cranks with great abandon. prefers to be the only goon. needs an active lair with plenty of enrichment.
now this fella comes with some baggage. his previous villain was going to have put down when he refused to perform unsedated human vivisection as a form of torture. one of our agents intercepted the execution and brought him to the goon shelter. would thrive in an environment of G or PG-rated villainry.
on the other hand, if you’re looking for something a little more… advanced… then this fine lady over here would make a great challenge for an experienced villain able to set firm boundaries. she will NOT be released to first-time villains; proof of prior henchpeople must be demonstrated before adoption approval. high prey drive. under no circumstances should she be left alone with children or small animals. must sign waiver releasing the goon shelter from responsibility if her behavior is deemed excessively depraved.
These two are pair-bonded and may only be adopted together. Up for anything, they are fiercely loyal to their employer provided their needs are met and they are permitted to hold hands. They look alarmingly similar to one another but it is undeterminable whether they are close blood relatives or lovers who choose to dress and style themselves in identical ways. Habit of finishing each other’s sentences with rhyming couplets; we have not attempted to train this out of them. Will answer to whatever names or titles you give them so long as they are complimentary and/or rhyme.
Will you help this goon find his forevil lair? He’s been returned to the goon shelter six times now but we refuse to give up on him. A vile little rat of a man, he’d be the perfect accomplice to someone willing to overlook his unfortunate heterosexuality. If gay-coding is not your style and you don’t expect it from a henchman, please consider giving this little guy a good home in your dastardly schemes.
This guy is not your typical goon. He was rescued from a high-kill shelter after being deemed unfit for henching. His deep baritone voice, his darkly handsome good looks, and his flair for the dramatic have made prospective employers pass over him time and time again, making him the longest resident of the goon shelter. But don’t judge a book by its cover—while his appearance and demeanor suggest “villain”, his real passion is taking orders and faithfully serving a master. If you’re secure in your villainry and not prone to jealousy, he may just be what it takes to turn your base into a lair.
i got a 100% on this bostonian-to-english quiz but i grew up near boston..... i'm curious what you guys get. there's a couple things in here i didn't even know are regionalisms + a couple things i hadn't heard before but could parse pretty easily from context. tag/reply with what you got and if you're familiar with the area or not!
Folks are really out there arguing that generative AI represents the death of truth in advertising like we haven't spent decades watching TV commercials pour motor oil on pancakes because real syrup doesn't look like what people expect syrup to look like.
I think what the present discourse about generative AI in advertising really highlights is that a concerning number of people genuinely have no idea how far removed your average TV spot is from the reality of whatever it's trying to sell you. Like, I don't just mean camera tricks and good lighting – I mean that more often than not, the thing on screen simply objectively does not depict the thing you're buying. We're trading one maliciously deceptive simulacrum for another.

Red sentences are true. Lies cannot walk on them.
Yellow sentences are electric. They will shock you.
Green sentences are alarms. If you read them, you will have to debate against me.
Orange sentences are orange-scented. They will make you smell delicious.
Blue sentences are filled with water. Swim through if you like, but if you smell like oranges the piranhas will debate you.
Also, if a blue sentence is next to a yellow one, the water will also electrocute you.
Purple sentences are slippery. You will slide to the next one. However, the slippery soap smells like lemons, which piranhas detest.
Purple and blue are safe.
Finally, pink sentences. They don't do anything. Read them all you like.
How was that? Understand?
If i could go back in time and interfere in Beatles history i think the only thing i'd do is make comments to paul that would result in him recording maxwell's silver hammer even more. We'd get to the point where it sounds like the official version and i'd casually be like Hmmm paul i don't know don't you think it still sounds a bit unpolished? I think if you just did it a few more times you'd get something really special but it's not there yet. Up to you though paul of course, you're the musical one here haha! And slowly i would drive him even more insane until john and george and ringo teamed up to kill me for real
a man will be like "this female character is taking back her power and agency! girlslay!" and its her choosing to kill herself for the largely male cast
i am glad people are finding solace in richard siken's redefinition of love as a purely mutual emotion or state of being, but at the same time it's driving me up a wall for the simple fact that it is a redefinition & people are treating it as an uncovered "true" definition. "love" describes a whole range of emotions, many of them negative; this no true scotsman version of love is a different concept entirely, both from how the more generically expressed "love" is experienced and from what "love" as a term has meant colloquially & i'm honestly not sure who or what it serves to narrow the definition in this way. to engage in a little bit of reductio ad absurdum, it's like someone who's only had a mcdonalds cheeseburger said "cheeseburgers are all gross" and the answer was "that's because you haven't had a real cheeseburger"
