It's also not really a theory and more of a genuine interpretation of this ending. Conformitygate is about a story that failed imo. The only 'theory' part of it was the hope of a secret episode. The hope the story didn't actually end in failure. Alas..

Yeah, it was basically 2 hours of the Duffers rubbing their dicks about how smart they think they sound while the cast and crew were flashing "help I'm under duress" signals while being clearly forced to glaze the Duffers and I especially caught Millie being rightfully pissed as fuck about her ending in the table read and Noah almost broke character at one point in the middle of being forced to glaze the Duffers' nonexistent writing skills. It's very much not worth it. It was a slogfest already by the 8 minute mark and it was everything I could do to get through it (paused multiple times and got up to do other shit before I finally locked in for the last hour just to get through it). And then I wound up on Twitter, so delirious by the end of it, that the second I ran across one of the Stranger Things accounts posting a picture of Finn and Noah in the documentary they accidentally labeled "Finn and Mike last day on set" or something like that, I started laughing so hard I was crying and couldn't see for about 30 minutes straight. Don't waste your time, for your own sake LMFAO

Just because what you wanted didn't happen, doesn't mean it's queerbaiting. It is now being used an excuse when the ship you want didn't get together. Queerbaiting has to do with marketing.

If this is about Stranger Things, y'all are being ridiculous and annoying. Why are you siding with the homophobic writers and clowning on the queer community of this show who has been genuinely and terribly hurt by it.

I genuinely don't get this behavior. From Tumblr of all place... This isn't even about the ship, it's about what it meant for the queer characters. For the characters in and out of the love triangle. It's about Will, it's about Mike, it's about Jane and Robin and Vicky. It's about all of them. They were all done dirty by this. Will was tortured non-stop for being queer throughout all 5 seasons, with no pay off. Mike became an uncaring asshole for no reason. Jane got the worst bf she could find who kept stunting her growth and turned her into nothing more than a concept if a hero, instead of a person. And Robin and Vickie... Man..

People kept clowning on us for 'not caring about the lesbian couple' before the finale. (which was totally untrue...) As if that couple was not solely used to queerbait further the mlm ship through their dialog and cinematography, and make the queer guy give up on his own queer relationship after they gave him false hope. And then, once it was all done, the lesbians were totally discarded by the show and broken up. Off screen. Barely a mention of it. They never got their date despite talking about it in all their scenes together. But don't worry, the straight couple went instead. So happy for them..

Let's not even talk about the actual textbook queerbait coming straight from Netflix and the writers account for a decade. Going as far as selling merch of something that doesn't even fucking exist in the show. 🫩

Let's not forget the infamous funko pop of Mike holding the painting representing Will's feelings which were used to fix his love interest's straight relationship. And making it Mike's whole brand too...

Queerbaiting has never been about basic queer rep. (many queerbait shows has it, supernatural and Voltron included). It was always about baiting queers to profit out of them without taking any real risk..and that's exactly what happened with Byler and Rovickie. They built it up. In the narrative, in the cinematography, in the color coding, in the dialog, in the merch, in ads, in everything. And then back off of everything last minute.

And ya know the real difference between us and shows like supernatural? Why there was such a big fuss ? Because we didn't fucking know they actively hated us. They built up this show as a love letter to the weirdoes, to the abused, to queers, the nerds and outsiders. And we believed them. We trusted them. And for it, we got betrayed in the most cruel manner we would never ever have thought off.

They told us queer love wasn't serious, unlike straight love. That unending queer pain is realistic. That we should be happy with our lone self, and thankful we're even accepted at all.. That to break the cycle of abuse you need to kill yourself.... And this just.. Came out of nowhere. This was not what it was building up to. But it happened. So yeah, pardon our crash out ! We were in a bit of a shock, you see. Not just "disappointed our ship wasn't canon".

So you can honestly fuck off with all that. Thank you and everyone who side with that kinda post for siding with homophobia. I'm sure that will help clear things up about what is "real queerbait" ... 👍
