Out of all the things that I want answers for, this fricken mixtape is the thing that keeps standing out to me, we never see it in season 5, it could be Jonathan's tape that he made for Will in season 1 but it's never mentioned in season 5? WHY is it above all the other items we saw the party use in the final episode, why are they pushing merch of it with the release of season 5 if we never saw it?? Was it planned to be a big thing and the duffers, in duffer fashion, just forgot about it? I'm losing my mind.
Cannot overstate how wild it is that this hasn't appeared in the series (yet!) given how much branded or licenced merch it was on.

Daily reminder that OUT OF ALL songs that exist on earth Mike Wheelers first song on his OWN official playlist was “Smalltown boy” which was basically the hymn for queer community in 80s.
Okay, the song is a banger and you most def should have included it.
Although There’s like 14 other characters that got their playlists too… Mike was the one who got it and not just this, the Queer hymn is an introduction to music associated with Mikes character. Wow, okay.
Then they tell us we’re seeing things…🙄
I had been saying for a long time that the playlists weren't spoilers. They literally picked songs based on the titles, not the themes. And Mike is literally a small town boy.
But this isn't even an "I told you so" because I utterly hate the fact that I was right about it. I really was hoping to be wrong.
As the playlist nerd, I have to disagree heavily!!! ^^
There was a lot of themes and events forshadowed in Will, Eleven and Mike's. Season 5 included. Notably, the running away theme in Mike's playlist. (which appears in 4 songs) Which first appears in the play with Jopper and Creelby. And finally in vol 1 with Mike. Which didn't work out for any of them, now that I think about it. Like running away might not be the answer huh.
There's also a song that appear twice in Mike's playlist because they picked a pride theme version, it's Don't You Want Me by The Human League and it's the 11th song (and 33)! It's a break up song BTW. Which also forshadowed s3 break-up and Mike's insecurities. The song also appeared on Steve Playlist but not with the pride version. So it was definitely intentional.
I'm sure people have forgotten since, but there was a little arg on the radio show last month that lead to a break-up scene in the movie Pretty In Pink. Guess who had on their playlist, If you leave by OMITD from Pretty in Pink. Twice. (the 18 and 43 song).
That's right, Mike again.
Random tibit but someone noticed the orange Mohawk is probably based on the album cover of You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive.
Which not only appears in Mike's playlist but also play in the Rink'o'Mania scene.
Sure it lead to nothing for byler ... But just like they set it up in the show, this shit was definitely intentional. I refuse to believe otherwise. 😩
